A Weekend Suggestion

JESUS is the LIGHT of the world.

John 8:12 New American Standard Bible
12 Then Jesus again spoke to them, saying, “I am the Light of the world; the one who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.”

Luke 23:44-45 Complete Jewish Bible
 44 It was now about noon, and darkness covered the whole Land until three o’clock in the afternoon;
45 the sun did not shine. Also the parokhet in the Temple was split down the middle.

parokhet – veil (curtain)

And the LIGHT of the world became DARKNESS so humanity could come out of their darkness and walk in the LIGHT.

May I suggest a weekend project?
Would you be willing to pray and read some passages of Scripture?
Would you be willing to read and see how it is that the LIGHT of the World secured our Deliverance?
Would you be willing to read the passages with fresh and yielded eyes — would you be willing to SEE, really see what it COST GOD to save you and me?

Suggested Passages:
Matthew 27: 45-54
Mark 15: 33-39
Luke 23:39-49
John 19:25-30

A New Want To

I found this in my draft file.
It appears to have been there for a while, like sometime between June of 2020 and January of 2021.
I’ve read it and guess what, it’s still true! So I thought I’d add a bit more and press the publish button.

Sin.
It’s been on my mind heavily, lately.
Mine and yours.
The ‘yours’ meaning what we see every time we turn on a digital media screen or perhaps just walking public streets.
Seriously, have you noticed all the sin (evil) paraded in our world?
I mean people tell lies like it’s the truth.
Womb Babies are killed like they are nothing – a vegetable or less.
People kill. They steal. They destroy lives, families, marriages, property, industry, education . . . on and on goes the destruction.
That reminds me of Scripture. Something YESHUA said when He was speaking of Satan.

10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.  source  John 10:10

Sin destroys.
But we still do it.
Why?
Why do people sin?

I’ve heard for years that people are not sinners because they sin; they sin because they are sinners.

I have no doubt it is true.
People sin because we are sinners.
And here it gets really ugly. We sin because we like it!
Oh more than like it, we cherish it!  That’s why we keep doing it.
Only when we see the ugly, awfulness of our sin do we even get the inkling that we might like to stop. The only thing is we can’t.

We do not have the power to stop sinning even if we had the want to!

Don’t believe me? Try it!

Pick out your favorite sin, oh what the heck, make it easier, pick out your least favorite

and NEVER do it again.

Our flesh is totally depraved it cannot NOT sin.
BUT when JESUS makes us a NEW CREATION we CAN.
As we yield to HOLY SPIRIT, we can lay down any sin we want to.

Now we must ask, how’s our want to
And if we don’t have a new want to; it just may be that we are still lost in our sins – no salvation has occurred.

Does this mean we become sinless on this side of Heaven?
NO.

But it does mean we sin less than we used to.
It means day by day or perhaps year by year, we see ourselves more and more choosing to obey our Father.
We see ourselves conforming more and more to the Image of JESUS.

Romans 8:29 For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters; source

Snow

Snow.
I am giving thanks for snow today; not that I see much of it here in L.A.

But all the same, snow.

At this time of year and in certain movies snow is honored and nearly worshipped.
It seems to make all things alright.
It seems to be the thing that makes the season of Christmas, Christmas in the movies.
The final touch, we might say.

If only people would let snow speak to them.

Snow.
Made of exquisite individual flakes.

I have a link for you and I hope you will read it.
The Science of individual snowflakes is cause for awe of GOD our Creator.

How do snowflakes form? Get the science behind snow

Would you please consider this with me?
Snowflakes.
Individual.
Unique.
Yet each and every one of them is a six-sided snowflake. No two alike but all with the same makeup.

Sound familiar?
Humans. No two alike but all with the same makeup.

At the center of each snowflake, as white and bright as they are, is a tiny particular of pollen or dust.
The very center of the snowflake is not white at all.

Neither are we at our centers, White.
We are dark and desperately need the WHITE (Righteousness) of JESUS CHRIST to make us fresh and new.
Shall we say like freshly created, untouched snow, glistening and bright?

O to be that! Untouched by sin. Clean, white as dazzling snow, and bright.
We can be; we are IF we are IN CHRIST JESUS

Snow.
I hope going forward when you are privileged to see snow you will remember what you have read here today and that you will be sure you have given that dust particular at the very core of you to JESUS and if not, that the very next time HE offers to make YOU whiter than SNOW that you immediately respond: YES!
