Time Passing

Sunday evening is winding down and I’m here for a quick hello I think. Another full weekend at the Thompson house – so blessed and grateful.

Can you believe it? September 26, 2011. More and more I am thinking about the passing of time and how precious and purposeful ABBA intends for our lives to be. What is that line? We’ve only one life, it soon will be past, only what’s done for Christ will last. Either I did not know or I’d forgotten whichever the case, this poem is new to me tonight. Please use this link – click HERE and take in C.T. Studd’s poem: Only What’s Done for Christ will last.

I think one of my favorite stanzas of the poem is this one:

Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, “twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

See that line bringing Thee pleasure on Thy Throne? I like imagining myself doing that. Do you?

A verse to ponder today:

Micah 6:8 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

Wise Woman of Abel

Perhaps you will find the Wise Woman of Abel to be of interest. She is my Gal of Scripture for tonight (Thursday).

Read her story:

2 Samuel 20:14-22 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
14 Now he went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, even Beth-maacah, and all the Berites; and they were gathered together and also went after him.
15 They came and besieged him in Abel Beth-maacah, and they cast up a siege ramp against the city, and it stood by the rampart; and all the people who were with Joab were wreaking destruction in order to topple the wall.
16 Then a wise woman called from the city, “Hear, hear! Please tell Joab, ‘Come here that I may speak with you.’”
17 So he approached her, and the woman said, “Are you Joab?” And he answered, “I am.” Then she said to him, “Listen to the words of your maidservant.” And he answered, “I am listening.”
18 Then she spoke, saying, “Formerly they used to say, ‘They will surely ask advice at Abel,’ and thus they ended the dispute.
19 I am of those who are peaceable and faithful in Israel. You are seeking to destroy a city, even a mother in Israel. Why would you swallow up the inheritance of the LORD?”

20 Joab replied, “Far be it, far be it from me that I should swallow up or destroy!
21 Such is not the case. But a man from the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against King David. Only hand him over, and I will depart from the city.” And the woman said to Joab, “Behold, his head will be thrown to you over the wall.”
22 Then the woman wisely came to all the people. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it to Joab. So he blew the trumpet, and they were dispersed from the city, each to his tent. Joab also returned to the king at Jerusalem.

So what’s the first thing you notice about the woman?  No name?  Yeah, me too. So this is what I think she has no name because you can be her. Any woman in Christ Jesus can be a woman of valor, a woman of courage, a woman of wisdom, a woman who does a whole lot of good for her community, for her world. But I said most all that on September 20, 2011 post didn’t I? Check me out HERE.

Much later.

And I am back from my class.  The HOLY SPIRIT so loves us women! He gave us such a good time. I am certain you guys have experienced the same in Bible Study as He loves you all too. :)

We decided in class tonight, with or without a name, we want to look up this Women of Abel when we get to Heaven and spend some time getting to know her better. We determined that she is a women of courage as well as wisdom.

And we decided in these New Testament times any walls upon which we will stand and roll heads will surely be spiritual in nature rather than physical as our Gal of Study’s situation tonight.

Ephesians 6:12 New King James Version (NKJV)

So tell me Wise Woman of _______________, got something rebellious hiding out in your ‘city’ that needs its head to roll?  Yes? Then set your heart to know The Holy Scriptures, sharpen your Sword, climb up on that wall and start wielding It. (You too, Guys.)

Pray for Dear Ones depending on you.

Owning Our Own . . .

As I was praying and working on my praying cards (which are index cards, some folks have individual cards with my desires for them and Scripture to pray over them) today a particular need came to the forefront – tithing. Not a favorite subject of many. But it is what it is – an act of obedience, a crucial one.

For sure, GOD does not need one thin dime from any one of us but we so need to give it. And how much? ALL of it! The tithe (10% of your earnings) is only a start. We should be faithful stewards NOT owners of all the monies in our coffers. You see owning our own money will make us very poor indeed.

Hear the Word of the LORD:

8 “Will a man rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.
9 You are cursed with a curse, for you are robbing Me, the whole nation of you!
10 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.
11 Then I will rebuke the devourer for you, so that it will not destroy the fruits of the ground; nor will your vine in the field cast its grapes,” says the LORD of hosts.
12 “All the nations will call you blessed, for you shall be a delightful land,” says the LORD of hosts.

Did you get that?
And now here it gets uncomfortable for me just on the outside chance that not all The White Stone’s email subscribers are (Faithful) Stewards. Truth is if you are not the Faithful Steward as described above then you are the Robber described above. And did you also get that those outside the Faith see Faithful Stewards (Tithers) as Blessed People. Perhaps one of the reasons folks remain lost is because so many who profess the name of JESUS are Robbers of God. Pretty sad, isn’t it?

You see being a Faithful Steward (Tither) is all about faith and trust. We either believe GOD is faithful to His Word to us or we don’t.

I have one more Text to share before I close today.

18 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the Most High God.
19 And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the Most High God, possessor of heaven and earth:
20 And blessed be the Most High God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
via Genesis 14 KJV – And it came to pass in the days of – Bible Gateway.

Do you see it? Do you see that Abram gave tithe with a willing, grateful heart? Do you see that he gave because the Most High God had been good to him?

Has the Most High God been good to you?

And now since for sure none of The White Stone subscribes fit into the not a Faithful Steward company, this nugget is for you.

Blessed be Abram of the Most High God.  (Spoken by Melchizedek to Abram)
Blessed be Kathie of the Most High God. (Spoken by GOD to me)
Let me tell that does something for me!!!

Go ahead. Try it on! Fill in your name.

Blessed be _______________ of the Most High God. (Spoken by GOD to You!)

Settle in under that today.

Please pray for the folks who need us. Click HERE for their names.

Today is praying for you specifically by name and matter, if you’d like to email me with your request, I’d be pleased to pray.

Nothing Like I Planned

I’m checking in for a quick Tuesday morning hello since I did not sit to write on Monday. :( One of Monday’s activities was a Memorial Service. Kathy was only 54 and a young 54 at that!  Her husband, Mike, for a long while now as the HOLY SPIRIT reminds you please pray for him.

It is a cloudy, misty morning here in Lower Alabama – quiet too. I am taking a break from preparing for Thursday night’s Bible Study. You may recall I named it Gals of Scripture. And so far it has gone nothing as I had planned.

The first Thursday night I was home with hubby freshly home from an unexpected hospital stay — so no class that night. All and all it was a great experience – I am speaking here of the hospital stay – yes, seriously. And he is doing great now – still recovering but doing so wonderfully.  And we are so grateful.

The next Thursday which was last Thursday I had expected to present Rahab but the HOLY SPIRIT said no it will be Eve. And I agreed with Him. Good thing, huh? And at the conclusion of last week’s class, I suggested that perhaps Rahab would be this week’s Gal of Scripture. She’s not.

I got my change of direction just a bit ago. This woman is not even given a name in Scripture which tells me she can be any woman. Any woman who will choose to be can be a woman on point for JESUS. Any one of us (men included) can choose to be wise and stand on the wall for JESUS. It’s the only wise decision to make. :)  Shall we chew on that today?
