From a Decade Ago

The colors are long gone now but this message is just as fresh — from March 1, 2011.

If you like click HERE and read from a decade ago.

Here’s a start, to see if you might be interested.

I am flat-out enjoying the new colors in our hall bath. I often stop in passing, lean my head against the door facing and just smile.

As I begin to write I am fresh from cleaning the miniature roller I used this morning for some touch-up and I have an application to share with you. It is by no means new but I have to have something to write about for our Tuesday time together.  🙂

I noticed it takes a lot of water to get the paint roller clean. Even when the roller looked clean and white again and I thought I might be finished, with just a little squeeze I knew there was yet paint hiding deep in the roller.

Is a picture forming for you?

The rest HERE.

I Reckon, Again.

I used to on occasion re-post my older devotions; back then a blank day of posting just couldn’t be. I’ve had many blank days since September 16, 2015.
So just for the good of it, here’s a repeat.

I reckon.

That’s what I heard Charles say. Charles Billingsley. I was watching/listening to a You Tube. Charles was in concert at a church in Macon, Georgia. And right about 30 minutes in he was encouraging the congregation and he said reckon. And I was off!

Reckon. (Click here for Webster’s definition)

Some would say that’s a pretty southern word. It’s a godly word too. The Scripture passage I was thinking of was Romans 8:18. There Paul utilized it as an accounting term. Reckon. Count it. Count it as so. By the way in the KJV you will find Reckon 33 times. Here’s a link in case you want to check it out. HERE

Romans 8: 18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. [source]

And so we count and if we count it so, I reckon that reckoning will change how we live. And I reckon, I need to do some reckoning.

I reckon. Seriously smiling here. :)

Now. One more thing and I’ll press publish.

That Charles Billingsley you tube? You got an hour and 28 minutes?  I reckon it’s worth every minute I’ve invested. Perhaps you will too.

And a bit (translation: a few minutes) before the I reckon, he sings a song, and a certain portion of the lyrics is this: You wrapped my soul inside Your Arms.  I don’t know about you but upon hearing those words I was wrapped in love this morning; and not just me but I saw in those words my Girls wrapped in His Arms too. Don’t you reckon some worship was going on? :)

I reckon I better close this epistle. :)

Again – Mother’s Day

It will soon be Mother’s Day.

I wrote a piece in 2012 and five years later it still works for my soul. Perhaps you will gain something from it too.

Please follow this link – HERE – and be directed to the post entitled Momma.

And if you are game to read two in one sitting here’s an excerpt and a link to Pondering(s). It was written February 5, 2009 – just a few days post my Mother’s Home-going.

Pondering(s)

When I made up the bed today, I remembered Momma and how she thought it was such a ‘high up’ bed and she would giggle and grunt as she climbed up into it. For a moment, I thought to be sad and even cry again but then my thoughts turned to how much giggling she is doing in Heaven. That she is seeing and experiencing much much greater fun than anything here. And that comforts me.

So, the prayers of the Saints are working. I am beginning to think less of me and what I am missing and am choosing to praise and give thanks to our God for what Momma is enjoying and that on a day certain I will see the glories of Heaven with her. To HIM be the Glory!

I got a perspective on a familiar verse of Scripture today. I don’t think I will ‘evangelize’ it but it felt good for me.

Thank you for indulging me today.

May the LORD comfort and strengthen you.

Reaching Back

Good Monday misty morning!

Slept late. Coffee in hand. My oldest GRAND is still here! Life’s good!

I’m reaching back this morning to bring an offering to today’s page.

IDOK DEVOTION FOR WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 5, 2007

A word from Max Lucado from his book The Great House of God: We avoid pain and seek peace. God uses pain to bring peace.
Hosea 14   6 His branches shall spread;
His beauty shall be like an olive tree,
And his fragrance like Lebanon.
Lebanon is a wooded mountain range on the northern border of Israel and my thoughts are wooded with olive trees. Olive trees are a staple, the giver of life-sustaining gifts to Israel. And to that we can add that Lebanon in the Hebrew language means to be white, to be made white, purity, to show whiteness, grow white.
Beautiful description of Jesus, isn’t it? And of us – as we ‘grow’, like Him, ‘become white’, ‘pure’ in Him. Oh! Yes! Lord Jesus spread Your Branches over me!!!
7 Those who dwell under his shadow shall return;
They shall be revived like grain,
You know the story of grain, don’t you? That it must fall to the ground and die in order to live and bring forth fruit. What better picture could we have of what we must do today if we are to ‘grow white’.
And grow like a vine.
Their scent shall be like the wine of Lebanon.
8 “ Ephraim shall say, ‘What have I to do anymore with idols?’
I have heard and observed him.
I am like a green cypress tree;
Your fruit is found in Me.”
What a STATEMENT! Now that I have HEARD His Voice, now that I have OBSERVED His Ways, how could I anymore bow to idols???!! How indeed!!
9 Who is wise?
Let him understand these things.
Who is prudent?
Let him know them.
Oh yes! We are ONLY wise and ONLY prudent when we ‘grow white’, when we nestle under the Shadow and Wing of the ALMIGHTY and LIVE THERE.
For the ways of the LORD are right;
The righteous walk in them,
But transgressors stumble in them.
See that?! His Ways ARE RIGHT, always. And we do well only when we walk and live and breathe in them. Amen. Make it so in us Lord!
And back to today; if you have few more minutes – a song.
