Day 23

Day 23 of The Giving of Thanks.

Hearing.
Actually, all our five senses. Seeing. Smelling. Tasting. Touching. Hearing.
The ability to hear.
What a gift!
Whether it be the slightest of sounds like a larger than usual earring smoothly gliding over your neck, the chime of the Grandfather clock standing stately against the wall, the squeal of a two-year old that you love more than your next breath, the yelp of your Lab as you step out the door, the chirping of your phone, that special one or two sounds because it’s your Girls calling, or even a YouTube streaming a favored song.
Let me not be remiss here – I must mention spiritual hearing – hearing the Voice of GOD – sweetly, correctively, encouragingly, or declaring to our cold, afraid soul, His warmth and security.

John 10:27  (NKJV) 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. source

Ecclesiastes 12:13  (AMP) 13 When all has been heard, the end of the matter is: fear God [worship Him with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is almighty God] and keep His commandments, for this applies to every person. source

Now for a favored hearing from YouTube.
It’s special.

On her 12th Christmas, Baby Girl gifted me with the playing of Fur Elise on our old upright piano. This Momma cried happy tears that Christmas morning.
This is not Baby Girl’s playing but it’s still a pleasure.
Enjoy. :)

Time

Time? What time is it for you?

Ecclesiastes 3  (TLV) 1 For everything there is a season
and a time for every activity under heaven:
a time to give birth and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted;
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build up;
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance;
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek and a time to lose,
a time to keep and a time to discard;
a time to tear apart and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak;
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.  source

Is there something you need to do while there is still time? Something you know the Holy Spirit through His Word is calling you to do?
No time like the present.

Quest

Your purpose and my purpose on this earth is to know GOD and to make Him known.

That’s it. That’s the total of it. And that is only the beginning.

To know Him and to make Him known. That is why we were born. To know GOD and to make Him known.

Where do we even begin to know this GOD?

Praise and Thanksgiving is a grand place to start.  Starting with the things we do not understand and the things we hate. Not praising Him or thanking Him that they happened BUT that He has not forsaken us and He has not messed up. Start there.

Positive confessions are a MUST! Turn those negative thoughts and fears into out loud praise and positive confessions from GOD’s Word and we will see.
Watch Him turn your night into day in the middle of dark morning hours when all the world is asleep and you are awake in pain and gripped with fear.

Our very quest to know Him with our praise and thanksgiving and positive confessions of His Word in the midst of evil will make Him known to us AND make Him known to others through us.

The quest is on!

John 17:And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.  source

Ecclesiastes 12:13 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. source

At this writing I am waiting on my copy of The Quest by Beth Moore. I am thinking this study will only advance what the Holy Spirit of God has already started.

A Flower Box Lesson

For you to see my point in this pic, let me explain.

Our sunflowers are spindly. More than I think they should be. Anyway a week or more ago I noticed one had fallen over; it had a pretty severe bend in its stalk but I decided to leave it rather than pull it up. Good move! :)

Notice its fall was cushioned by a friend. And notice too if you will, resting there with its friend, it began reaching for the sun. It’s green again, putting on leaves and I believe it just may bloom!

I see two parallels, perhaps you see others.

One. When we fall down, look to the Son right where we are and begin to grow again.

Two.  Be a friend. Comfort the fallen. Lend them strength. Encourage them in JESUS. Help them look up and begin to grow again.  And won’t you be so blessed when they bloom?!

Ecclesiastes 4:10  (NIV) 10 If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up. source
