Just Go For the Relief

I think I don’t have a lot to say tonight for Thursday morning.

Mark 15: 23 and they gave him wine spiced with myrrh, but he didn’t take it. source

JESUS is a Man of His Word.

Matthew 26: 29 I tell you, I will not drink this ‘fruit of the vine’ again until the day I drink new wine with you in my Father’s Kingdom.” source

Do you see it?

Until the day I drink new wine with you in my Father’s Kingdom.

Even in indescribable physical pain, He refused what could have at least dulled the throbbing a little.
Why?
Perhaps there are reasons far deeper than I am presenting here but Keeping His Word is pretty big to me.
You see I think we fallen humans often dismiss statements we have previously made when those restrictive conditions later get in the way of our comfort and we just go for the relief.
GOD doesn’t do that.

GOD keeps His Word period!
Aren’t you glad?

Who’s Your Teacher?

It’s a rainy day here in LA.
Drizzle, drizzle, on and off all this day.
A little cool.
That said there’s nothing about it gloomy.

You see today, as I type is Tuesday and like every Tuesday for almost a year with only 2 weeks missed has been prayer day for me and my dear and treasured sister a whole state away.
If you do not have a weekly prayer partner I highly recommend you ask The LORD to bring you one.

Does it take discipline and dedication? Absolutely it does!
But then all things godly do, wouldn’t you agree?

Mark 14

In the house of Simon the leaper. What a way to be identified!
Simon the leaper. But he had been healed!

The woman with the Alabaster jar of perfume.
She came to the house. Just brought herself right on in there.

And then what?
(Please be reminded this is only 2 days, give or take a few hours, before crucifixion day.)
She didn’t just remove the cork or whatever type of spill preventative accompanied the jar; she broke it.
She reserved nothing for herself. She poured it all out for JESUS.
Do you need to cease reserving something for yourself and instead pour it all out to JESUS?

YESHUA received her worship – every ounce of it and He took up for her when she was attacked for wasting the perfume. Do we not yet know that nothing we give to JESUS is ever wasted?! To this day we still talk about this lovely woman and what she did for JESUS.

But it was the last straw for Judas. That very day he sought out the Religious leaders to make a deal for the delivery of YESHUA to them.
The disciples prepared the Seder meal. The last time they would eat with Him until after His resurrection. (John 21:9-14; Luke 24:38-44)
And the last time they would share a cup of wine with Him until . . . well, we are not there yet. (Matthew 26:29)

I hope my few notes here will encourage you to read Scripture; to pour over it until Holy Spirit speaks, until He is your TEACHER. (John 14:26)

May I please encourage you again to read the Chapters listed in the sidebar?
May I also encourage you to find someone who will daily read along with you?
Make notes, share your thoughts with your reading partner. Pray with your reading partner.
Even if you cannot daily share your thoughts, at least once a week pick up the phone and share the week’s thoughts together.

Consider this with me: could it be the lack of unity one with another in the Church today is because the majority of us are not reading Scripture daily, nor sharing what we are reading with one another, and we are not praying together?
Please give it some thought — please give it some prayer.

We have the GOD-given RIGHT to live Right in this Wrong World.

He Lived Where?

Mark 2

Born in Bethlehem
Escaped to Egypt
Raised in Nazareth
Lived in Capernaum

From just this information, are you able to identify the person?

Mark 2:1 After a while, Yeshua returned to K’far-Nachum [Capernaum]. The word spread that he was back,
and so many people gathered around the house that there was no longer any room, not even in front of the door. While he was preaching the message to them,
four men came to him carrying a paralyzed man.  source

The word spread He was back.
This is important to me.

Needy people, sick people, honest-seeking people, curious people, and Pharisee People — they all heard He was back, and immediately they came.  Ponder that for a bit, let it simmer, and taste how delicious it is.

The GODMAN. He was (and still is) the most loved and the most hated of people of all time.

Matthew 4:12 When Yeshua heard that Yochanan [John] had been put in prison, he returned to the Galil [Galilee];
13 but he left Natzeret [Nazareth] and came to live in K’far-Nachum [Capernaum], a lake shore town near the boundary between Z’vulun [Zabulon] and Naftali [Nephthalim]source
[added]

So The LORD had a place in Capernaum.
We could study The GODMAN endlessly and we would never come to an end of Him.

We have the GOD-given Right to LIVE RIGHT in this WRONG world.

Don’t be One of Them

Matthew 4

So much! Where do I even begin and just think I see only a tiny portion of what is there!

Over and over in this chapter, I see an enlightening glimpse of the love JESUS has for us.
Just think of it! The GOD of the Universe, The Creator of it all HUMBLED Himself becoming a MAN to die on an execution stake!  See Philippians 2:8.

Why?
Because that was the ONLY way to SAVE us from our sins, hell, death, and the grave.

This gets me!

Verses 3 – 10

The SCUMBAG of the Universe shows up. (And scumbag is way beyond non-descriptive of his evilness.)

The Tempter came and said to him, “If you are the Son of God, order these stones to become bread.” source

The GOD of the Universe lowered Himself, allowed Himself to take on a human body with its limitations, moreover even to hear the voice of and even interact with that vile scumbag, even to be in his loathsome presence and put up with the proud arrogance of this personification of evil.
WHY?
Why would He do that?
Only one reason!
It had to be done in order to save wretched people like you and me!

O the love of GOD for us!!!

And as you read the chapter, please take note of verse 17. JESUS proclaimed the same message as did John.

17 From that time on, Yeshua began proclaiming, “Turn from your sins to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!”  source

What does this mean the Kingdom of Heaven is near?

My simple understanding of it today is when any human hears Holy Spirit speaking; when He confirms to a human – you are undone, you are a sinner in need of the Savior. Turn FROM your sins and TURN TO ME.

When a person knows that they know, and they don’t even know how they know, they just know they know. And what do they know? They know they need to be forgiven and JESUS is the only One who can forgive them, THEN The Kingdom of Heaven has come near them in that moment.
They do not need to let that Holy Opportunity pass them by!

Don’t be one of them!
