As A Nation

Warning — Not Politically Correct Stand Going On Here.

I have purposefully taken a low-key position in media venues for many months now as to political issues. However with some trepidation I am weighing in today.

Do we really as a Nation want a hedonist prone Supreme Court to bang their collective gavel and declare to the world that the United States of America hereby decrees and sanctions that that which GOD Himself has pronounced to be unholy, to be holy?

Humanity has been gifted with a free will. We daily choose our sins with or without the Supreme Court’s ruling, but have we considered what the consequences will be if this People, AS A NATION, from the Supreme Court declares another unholy act to be (lawful and) holy? Do we really want this Nation to say, Hey, GOD, You got it wrong! You are unenlightened, backward, unkind and stupid and we can decide for ourselves what is holy? So back off Buster, we are running this Nation the way we want and to hell with You and all those that choose to follow You. Is that what these now pending questions before the Supreme Court are about? Peel back the layers and I think you will find it is.

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, . . . via Psalm 33 NKJV;CJB - The Sovereignty of the LORD in Creation - Bible Gateway.

Is there space for repentance AS A NATION?  I don’t know. But intercessory prayer couldn’t hurt!

Day 33 of 2015 – Any move of GOD begins with His people faithfully praying ~~~ Kathie

A Gift

I started in August of this year working on a gift – a gift to JESUS that I have pretty much kept to myself, sharing mostly only with JT, Little Girl and Baby Girl. A particular gift of obedience in a particular area of struggle.

The Scripture does say:

For although physical exercise does have some value, godliness is valuable for everything, since it holds promise both for the present life and for the life to come. via 1 Timothy 4:7-9 KJV;CJB — Bible Gateway.

And so I leaned on that heavily. :)  And exercised little.

The Scripture also speaks of feasting:

17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness. via Esther 9:16-18 KJV;CJB –  Bible Gateway.

And I did. :) Often.

But that led to self-condemnation. Lots of it. Which led to more feasting but not much rejoicing. And then there was pain. Physical pain. And the Doctor said, “Kathie, it would help if you took off a few pounds. You’re not a lot overweight but just a few pounds would relieve that hip-joint some and you HAVE to MOVE. You either have inflammation in that joint or the beginnings of arthritis. You got to move, Girl.”

And so I took him seriously but I needed help. Lots of it. So I asked ABBA for a new mind about this thing. And He went right to work. Slowly but surely.

I heard things like: this self-condemnation does not produce godliness, it is in fact, pride – stop it!  I finally believed He cared how much I weighed, how much I exercised and what I ate, not because He was displeased with my size, not because large or small decreased or increased my value to Him, but because of the affect it had on ME! I learned that caring (in balance) for my body was an act of worship; an act of obedience. When the exercise increased, the portion sizes decreased, and healthy food choices became the norm, the self-condemnation ceased. And not just in the area of weight but other areas too. I felt accomplished. I felt successful. The defeat cycle ended. My love and respect for HIM grew! Communion with Him grew! I was, AM in AWE of Him! The smaller I get the Larger in my eyes HE is. That’ll preach, if you think about it. :)

Food does not boss me around anymore. I tell it what to do! {Phil.4: 13 I can do all things through him who gives me power. via Phil 4:13 KJV;CJB – Bible Gateway.} Same with my lazy bones! They get out of bed, hit the road for a walk on an average week of at least 5, maybe six days and 3 days a week we go to Curves.

I’m sold on Curves! It works for an older woman like me. I’ve dropped 3 pants sizes since August and not ONCE have I had sore muscles from the work outs there. And I’ve learned if a particular machine does give you medical difficulties, skip it and go on to the next – it all works out. Just don’t give up.

Now, how do I land this puppy?

Doing what is good, what is right, however insignificant it seems in the scheme of forever, matters to DADDY GOD. Trust me on this one. HE IS INTERESTED.

So if your jeans (or dress, or skirt) size is causing you to condemn yourself, get a revelation: HE loves you just like you are but obviously you don’t! So do something. Either accept that size (especially if there are no medical or good health reasons to change it) and give Him praise or surrender it for reduction or increase as the case may be. Either choice is an act of obedience and He will reward you for faithful obedience!

And that’s my Gift. Strange isn’t it? I had to do it for Him before it worked out good for me. :)

Happy weekend my Friends.

Day 346 of 2014, a day to give Thanks!

Cool and Not Cool

poor excuseFrom 92 Moose, Central Maine's #1 Hit Music Station Facebook page
(an acknowledgement, not an endorsement)

This appeared in my Facebook feed this morning and it brings one of my pet issues to mind: modesty.

Correct me if I am wrong but the woman’s attire has little, if anything, to do with rape. Rape is about power and control. Rape is what sin-sick men do in an attempt to satisfy a perverted need which is not primarily related to testosterone.

Similarly, immodesty is an attempt to satisfy a valid need that has been perverted; the need to be appreciated and noticed; to be valued. When I see a woman dressed immodestly my first reaction is grief and sadness. Sad that whether she is conscious of it or not she is saying my body is all I have to offer you; it’s all I have to be proud of.

I shall now brave the flack: The showing of cleavage, thighs and more is common in this culture and in summer months the excuse it is hot is as good as any other; but it is still an excuse. Not only is it an excuse it is a fallacy that wearing little more than bra and panties in the heat of the sun will make one cooler. Give me a calf length full flowing cotton skirt and a white cute kicky blouse/shirt (no cleavage showing) and I guarantee you I will be cooler than the one in a tank top and shorts. Sun beating down on bare skin is not cool – in more ways than one.

So why do women dress with cleavage, thighs and more exposed? You tell me.

I am not advocating that it takes head to toe garb to be modest. Modesty does not start with clothing, it starts with the heart. It starts with a woman or girl determining that JESUS is the one I am to please. HE gets to decide what I walk out the door wearing.  I wonder how many Christian women look in a full length mirror before they leave the house and ask HIM is this modest, LORD? Does this speak well of You and me?

I tell you from experience, you ask Him honestly and sincerely for clothing guidelines – He will give them to you.

There are some women at First Baptist Church of Satsuma, the local congregation of which I am a part, who carefully dress and some who don’t. One in particular who is younger than me even, every Sunday she is dressed modestly and attractively – she sings in the Praise Band. I have not told her; perhaps I should. She blesses me greatly!

Want a public figure as an example? Beth Moore. I have yet to see her dressed in anything but modest and flat-out cute clothes. And no she does not shop at high $ stores.

So there’s my soapbox for today.

1 Timothy 2:8-10 The Message (MSG)

8-10 Since prayer is at the bottom of all this, what I want mostly is for men to pray—not shaking angry fists at enemies but raising holy hands to God. And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions but doing something beautiful for God and becoming beautiful doing it.

Day 119 of 2014, praying for revival in the Body of CHRIST.

ABBA, You know my heart; You know where I have come from; You know the hot pants and heels I once wore; and in Your Grace, You redeemed me; I can never say thank You enough and I pray for others to be redeemed too in Yeshua’s Mighty Name.
