Pants!

If you all knew on our wedding day my husband to be then left his suit pants hanging separate from his jacket (not inside as is his custom) on the door frame of his bedroom instead of bringing them to the church, you would think today’s story is nearly as funny as we do.

So. Today hubby picked up his suit to take it with him and he checked for his pants inside – they were there; we both grinned. We exchanged our ‘see you in a little whiles’ and I followed him out the door. He went right and I went left to check the tomato bushes. It was a short check – good thing. As I turned toward the back door I saw. Yes! pants on the ground! With a giggle already bubbling I scooped them up waving them over my head racing for the front yard.  As I reached his car, I said, “you are just set on losing your pants, aren’t you?” His smile is priceless!

Folks, embrace the laughter! Relish together the moments as they come to you and then cherish the memories! It makes life GOOD.

It’s Just A Song

We sang it this morning in closing. I listened. I read the words. I wondered. Can I sing this?

Songs are important. Songs are never just songs. They are messages from the Songwriter.  That’s why I am selective with the songs on my listening list. It is my stewardship to regard the message of the song – does it speak well?  In some genres, they are prayers or praise, some not; but they are never just words put to musical notes.  Like the last one we sang this morning.

Refrain:
I surrender all, I surrender all;
All to Thee, my blessed Savior,
I surrender all.

I surrender all. Do I? Have I? Will I?

All?
All the Ill thoughts toward another, toward ourselves?
All the resentment for what he or she did?
All the anger and bitterness at the unfairness, the injustice?
All the hostility for the wrongness of the situation?
All the grief for who or what died?
All the wounds? All the hurt? All these horizontal relationship hurts, all these earth related trials and sufferings – have we? Have we surrendered them to JESUS? No? Then we lied this morning when we sang that we did.

Too hard? Too harsh?
There is a remedy. I’ve used it more than once and the last time was probably not the last time.

Abba, I am willing for You to make me willing to surrender this thing to You.

Generalizing

Dangerous. I know!

I invested exorbitant time generalizing generations today for my Facebook feed.  So why let it go to waste, I might as well share here too.

Pondering today. Just general observations from recent and current Generations. Mothers and Daddies took their children to church and practiced Scriptural obedience, not perfectly, but gave it a good faith try back in the 1940s and 50s – Generation one herein.

Those children born to generation one herein aged. They got married. This second generation, they went to church most of the time. Read their Bibles often. Prayed regularly. Morally lived pretty good. They had children. They even had some home devotions with the children – well, the Mommas did.

Third generation. These children of the Children of the second generation stay out of church most of the time except for weddings and funerals. They have a Bible, somewhere. Read it seldom. Not much real praying, not even grace before meals but occasionally ask for others to pray for them on social media when troubles are heavy.

Fourth generation. Some have Bibles, usually given to them by someone in generation two. Majority have a world view that would stagger generation one. They are not sure how to pray, who or if there is anyone to pray to. A majority of these fourth generation children hold out their hands demanding they be filled. Some of the older ones of generation 4 have married already, some are having babies already (5th generation).

Yes, these are generalities. Thank the LORD for every exception! And for not the exception, it’s not too late! All living generations can repent and we NEED TO and yet make a difference for other generations. We cannot change what we have done or what we did not do. BUT, we can now, today! bring the transforming Power of the BLOOD OF JESUS into these generational blood lines and set captives free before death claims us. That’s it.
