It’s the Saturday before the 25th, that day in December when the world celebrates the Savior.
But I did not come here today to bemoan or applaud the day, just to hopefully catch your attention and say hello. You know, since I’m not usually here at the screen on the weekends.
I took this picture this morning. It speaks to me. I can remember just a few short seasons ago, this Bradford Pear was sitting in a bucket waiting for room to grow. I am mindful that with time and nutrition, almost all things grow. I believe that. Do you?
Time is time. We all have some allotted time, and we all have access to the greatest of nutrition, don’t we? Scripture, of course! How’s your appetite? Growing like a bucket tree set free?
The last enemy will be destroyed. And that last enemy is what? Death. Scripture convinces us that there are certain things that must come before this last enemy is destroyed. It is for us to trust our LORD, walk obediently, and not fear the Ride until then.

The verse says in part: but to us who are being saved . . . I’ve been thinking about it today. Did you notice it says being saved? Not past tense but present tense participle. There’s a reason for that. It indicates ongoing actions. It expresses actions that are in progress at a specific time I’ve heard it said this way most of my life: we have been saved, we are being saved, and we shall yet be saved. Got that?
I get it this way. I have been saved (delivered) from the kingdom of darkness into GOD’s Kingdom of Light by the blood of JESUS The CHRIST. Presently, I am being saved from myself; my mind, body, and emotions are being transformed to practice holiness, and I shall be saved from the very presence of sin at the death of my mortal body and/or when JESUS returns for us. (Oh, by the way, all phases of Salvation, past, present, and future are by the Blood of JESUS The CHRIST.) So, tell me, is that good or what? And can you say the same?
