Protecting One’s Domain

Do I have a treat for you today? My beloved has written a Word for us. I think you will like it.

This morning as I was reading my daily devotion, a thought came to me which of all things came from my friendly four-footed creature, better known as my dog, Sara.

The devotion I read this morning was about the pet of the writer, (a dog) which was chewing up a particular pillow on the couch. She would come home

for a number of days and find the pillow chewed apart and cotton all over the house. She would pick up the loose cotton put it back in its covering and sew it up.

This went on for several days and she realized that her sweet pet was going back to the same pillow and figuring out where the weak spot in the pillow

was and proceeded to rip it apart day after day. Enough is enough. Throw the old pillow away, buy a new one. Did it and the problem solved.

Now how does this relate to my dog? You see my Sara does not like foreign creatures in her domain. ie. possums, armadillos turtles, squirrels, and even snakes inside her living quarters.

The way she handles these creatures is to put them to sleep permanently or bark enough until I come outside and chase them away or move them to an area where they will not be a temptation to her anymore.

If only we as individuals would take a lesson from the devotion I read or my Sara to remove those things in our life that is a temptation to us.

It is just as easy as getting rid of that old item in our life we keep going back to and keep chewing on, or do not let new sins creep into our domain.

Let us take that simple step, throw that old pillow away, and enjoy the comfort of that new pillow, (life) that has been purchased for us.

Next, if a new temptation tries to sneak into our domain (life), put it to sleep or keep barking, (praying) until you get help to put that out of your domain.

It is a simple thing, and He has told us that there is nothing too big or too small that He can’t take care of for us.

Thanks, Sara for the lesson today.

A Puppy Dog

I am smitten with the beauty of it. img_8633The bluest blue, dotted with white and sprinkled with green. So much so that I came in to pen this post for you.

It is not quite two o’clock in Lower Alabama and the skies
are a feast for the eyes.
I noticed as I was strolling the yard there was nary a breeze. Since coming in though I see Old Glory giving me a wave or two. img_8638A gorgeous September day! And we could and probably should stop right there but we generally don’t; we go on to say But it’s hot! And so it is. img_8637

Yep! striking somewhere between 90 and 100 degrees. I’ve often done this: see the exceedingly good things surrounding me and then let a but it’s hot turn my sunshine to rain, BUT today I think I’ll just enjoy this puppy dog flying high. img_8624

Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. source

Amen and Amen!

Pups

This excerpt from my You Version Reading Plan prompts this post.

Two puppies were thrown into a backyard wading pool by their playful master. One yelped hysterically while the other romped and played in the cool water. The master observed that the difference was not in the pool but in the pups.

Same pool. Same water temperature. Same environment, but what a difference!

Lets say we are pups.  How will we respond when we hit the water today? How have we already responded thus far?

The pups’ master in our little story we assume loved his pups; he is characterized as playful; meaning throwing them into the pool was a benevolent act. An act not to harm them but to give them an opportunity to enjoy being a puppy. Perhaps he had a plan; a plan to take them on a journey that included a much larger body of water – the pool was preparatory.

We have a Benevolent Master and He has a plan: that we enjoy being a human AND He definitely has us on a journey and He definitely prepares us for the next large body of water. Question is . . .

Which pup am I? Which pup are you?

The MASTER speaks:

John 10:10 The thief comes only in order to steal, kill and destroy; I have come so that they may have life, life in its fullest measure.

Be Hidden in CHRIST,

ABBA, thank You for this story, thank You for the prompt, thank You for the lesson; thank You for forgiveness since I already messed up BUT in this moment I can begin again and not only me but all of us; thank You for being more than benevolent toward us! I pray for each person who comes here to read and pray or just to read for whatever reason; I pray, HOLY SPIRIT, all will experience You as a benevolent, playful, serious, all-wise, loving, kind, perfect Master, Savior, Friend and ABBA.  And with our praises and our thankfulness we come with our petitions for Others and as we bring their names and faces before You we trust You to do all things well concerning them. {Jamie, Terri, Jill, Nicole, Dori, Kerri, Lance, Anna, John, Valerie, Perry, ________} And we pray for Others to receive strength to repent and believe on and in JESUS name.
