Ray Stedman

I am directing you to the words of  Ray Stedman today.  To pique your interest this is just a portion of what he said:

“What will you be like if you are godlike? Will you be strong? Yes, of course. There is no strength like God’s strength. Will you be filled with power if you are godlike? Oh yes, but be careful. It is a different kind of power than the world desires. It is quieter, less apparent, but far mightier. Will you be happy if you are godlike? Oh yes, but a different kind of happiness than the world is seeking after. Will you be wise and kind? Of course, wiser and kinder than you have ever been before, because that is what God is.”

and read the whole of it. The title is Be Godlike. It is worth the read.

ABBA, many things on my mind this morning, things to do and time slipping away; and more than that people with huge to them problems, troubles so big they don’t know what to do, hope is waning; HOLY SPIRIT, please help them hear You and believe You; help them trust You, help them live GODLIKE. I know, You know it is the only way to survive in this hostile world. Thank You for our IDOKs, each and every one of them, wherever they are in geography and wherever they are in fellowship with You, I pray for them to receive strength from You today; to receive hope, and, ABBA, those with sickness, disease and illnesses of every kind, please heal them. And we are mindful of others, we are remembering their names and faces in this moment, thank You for Your kind attention to them and their needs; and I am mindful, ABBA, that were it not for JESUS this prayer would be meaningless and unfruitful but because of Him You hear and You act. Amen and amen.

Surprise!

Perhaps I could say the extent of my surprise is indicative of my degree of having given up.

This is the 3rd Spring for my little lily. She has been faithful to push through the winter soil for three seasons and with each appearing she gave only leaves.

But this morning? Surprise! Delight and amazement and with much praise and gratitude I found this:

Certainly, the expected glory will surpass the present beauty but how foolish it would be of me to not celebrate what is while I wait for what is to come.

Can we get a life lesson from that? (You are invited to share your insights if you will.)

Dear Ones

I am frustrated this morning. Wednesdays are my days to pray for you by name  but truth is I am in need of you to pray for me.

I refrain from watching ‘lame stream media’ (borrowed from Sarah Palin) because I know it is lethal to me. The lies, the reprobate babbling that is spewed there just brings out the worst in me.  But even Fox in their effort to be ‘fair and balanced’ is overload for me this morning. Case in point: Alan Colmes. Gracious! Is he really that blind? How much kool-aide has he drank?!

See what I mean?  Frustrated!

This is going to be a long political season! I can see right now I am going to need Scripture more than ever to make it through November with any semblance of charity and mercy.

Truthfully though, I can say I wish no harm to the victims of reprobate thinking, but charity is not coming easy.  I add to my frustration imagining that I could surely reason with them; ask the right questions, draw the proper contrasts and their eyes would open.  Silly me!  (Bring every thought captive, Kathie!  2 Corinthians 10:5 )

Only Almighty GOD can witness the sin, the evil, the reprobate thinking, the malicious deeds of the masses and be not frustrated.  Oh I must draw close under the shelter of His Everlasting Wings for strength, for comfort, for love and mercy.

Psalm 91
2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him will I trust.”

4 He shall cover thee with His feathers, and under His wings shalt thou trust; His truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flieth by day,
6 nor of the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor of the destruction that layeth waste at noonday.

9 Because thou hast made the LORD, who is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation,
10 there shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
