Whipping Up Mayo

This post is written with no specific one in mind.
This post is not for everyone.
It’s just me wanting to share something that to me is good and good for me.

I’ve gained a few pounds since the beginning of the year.

I gained those pounds emotionally eating – even eating when I was not really hungry and eating things I did not need.  A few days ago the magic number flipped a switch in my thinking.

That number was not going to stand period the end.
And tonight while I was whipping up some mayonnaise for tomorrow’s potato salad I realized I really wanted to come here and talk about this.

For me eating what I do not need is a spiritual thing.  When I eat more than I need or when I eat foods that are not helpful to me, it wounds my soul.

When I surrender to those not good for me now food images dancing in my head, I feel bad — physically and emotionally.
Whipping up the mayo tonight, I recognized, hey, wait I’m a happier soul these recent days.
And I know why!
I’ve been saying NO.
No to certain foods.
No to amounts.  And No to the times I eat.
When I say no. I’m not going to eat that and you can’t make me. It’s a really nice spiritual high.
I like it.  And I’m grateful.
It encourages me to know I CAN say NO to anything I need to say NO to.

cookiesThere is indeed VICTORY in JESUS!

That’s it. That’s all I had to say.

Thanks for listening and being a means to hold myself accountable.

Love, Kathie

Not Obligated

“You are not obligated to act on every suggestion made by others. Concentrate on your family’s future well-being.”

If I could recall the name of the Author I would surely state the name but I failed to make note of it. Even so, does that statement grab you? Obviously, it did me as I am sharing it with you. Now this was written to parents of young women in the throes of a crisis pregnancy; but I think I could apply it to other areas. How about you?

Further, in some quiet moments with ABBA this morning I confessed to Him that I have some daily hindrances to healthy living. He agreed. I came away with this: There are daily hindrances to healthy living – mind, body and spirit – and when I make friends with those hindrances they become my excuses. It smarts but I think it will be helpful when I call it to remembrance with my next hindrance to healthy living – mind, body and spirit.

This summer cold or whatever that has attached itself to me is hanging on long. Your prayers to kick this thing would be appreciated.

Be Hidden in CHRIST,

Paint on the Wall

I saw two pictures today.  Splotches of paint on a wall. From picture one I thought that’s a huge paint sample to throw on a wall; there will be some wall painting going on right quick.

And then I saw picture two.

Picture two changed my mind about picture one. A lot.

Perspective.

So important!

The first swatch of paint looked like a brush stroke made by a woman taller than me, or perhaps, an adventurous preschooler with a chair; but when compared to the light switch plate in picture two – well that swatch of paint was not nearly so large.

Here’s my thought.

When life throws paint on our walls it can seem overwhelming. It’s just too much!  A touch up will never do. But …

A little perspective will bring abundant relief.

A little comparing of the circumstance; a little pulling back of that camera eye to get a glimpse of our ABBA’s resources and strength and that wall is not going to take near the work we thought at first blush.

13 Be strong, and let us show ourselves courageous for the sake of our people and for the cities of our God; and may the Lord do what is good in His sight.”

2013 is on its way!

Blessings of Joy and Peace,

Dewy Fresh

When my beloved shared his Guidepost devotion with me this morning, I became eager to get to our screen to share it with you. It is last year’s read but dewy fresh to me this morning.

“I used to like the saying “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!” But after an experience our daughter had one year, I’ve changed the words slightly.

Nikki was five then and looking forward to the pet show her kindergarten teacher had announced. She couldn’t wait to show off Purry, our black kitten, and to admire her classmates’ pets as well. Then life dumped a whole crateful of lemons on Nikki in the form of chicken pox. Spotty and itchy, she felt too miserable to enjoy staying home. Even the little “get well” toys we gave her couldn’t sweeten her forced vacation.

When she returned to school, I hoped she wouldn’t be too dejected after hearing about the fun she had missed. Instead, she came home bursting with pride and handed me the cause of her elation. It was a shiny gold foil medallion with two blue construction paper ribbons dangling beneath. The inscription on the foil said, “First Prize for Most Invisible Cat.”

Do you know someone too discouraged today to see a bright side? I suggest that when life gives your friends lemons, you help them make lemonade! Nikki’s teacher provided the “sugar” with a few scrapes of paper.

How can I help?

How can you?

‘Ain’t’ that good?!!

I am praying for the Kirk-Dossett Family today. John was out for his regular walk this Tuesday evening and instead of walking back to the house to join Debbie for supper, he joined JESUS. It has been an engulfing shock to them, so if you will join me in praying for them all.  And I still have many, many others on my ‘LORD JESUS, please help list’; as perhaps you do too.

DADDY GOD, thank You for always hearing my prayers. Thank You for the prayer conversations of this morning already; and it is my request to continue them. Debbie, John III, and all the family. Thank You, HOLY SPIRIT, for laying them heavy on my mind, asking for strength for them, for peace, comfort and consolation, carry them, O LORD, through these days and weeks of fresh mourning. Kerri, Dori and Pam – remembering them too; precious women needing individual, for different reasons Your touch in their lives and upon their very beings. Others too, ABBA, fresh on my heart I bring for Your Will to be done.  Israel. Protection and peace for them; for the subduing of all their enemies. And, ABBA, I am asking You for mercy on America. We the people, many of us, those who You have saved, we desire this Nation to stand with Israel, to support and help Israel; we do not want America to turn Her back on Israel so I pray that You will overrule the numbers here that are anti-Israel and cause us to be a steadfast ally with and for Israel. And I pray You will stop Iran from getting this weapon of mass destruction. I am mindful that Your Word describes destruction is coming upon this world typical of nuclear warfare but I am asking You for more time to advance Your Gospel; for more people to be saved and for more Christians to get serious about You and obeying Your Commission to us.  And for the day before us, thank You that You Got This and we are safe in JESUS name. I pray for each one who comes here to read and to pray that each will sense Your Manifest Presence today, and be corrected, be encouraged, be renewed and revived to good works in Your Name.Thank You, ABBA.

Today I Will Make A Difference

Such wisdom can be found reading any of Max Lucado’s books and I got this via email today. I had to share it because I believe someone else needs to hear it besides me. Enjoy!

Today I Will Make a Difference

Today I will make a difference. I will begin by controlling my thoughts. A person is the product of his thoughts. I want to be happy and hopeful. Therefore, I will have thoughts that are happy and hopeful. I refuse to be victimized by my circumstances. I will not let petty inconveniences such as stoplights, long lines, and traffic jams be my masters. I will avoid negativism and gossip. Optimism will be my companion, and victory will be my hallmark. Today I will make a difference.

Be sure to pop on over to Heart 2 Heart for the rest. And perhaps you will check out some other of Kat’s postings.

A brief update and I will call this a post for Monday.

Summer is going well. GRANDS and I are enjoying each others’ company. I’m not getting a lot of writing time as you are well aware; not doing a lot of reading either but I believe a lot of ‘spiritual gardening’ is going on. I believe Jesus in me is making a difference.

Please continue to keep up your praying for our PFT and for me, if you will. I have some ‘wonder if I should-s’ and some ‘could it be-s’ taking up some thought and prayer space. A prayer or two for me to clearly discern ABBA’s Will would not be wasted. Much JESUS love and thank you-s to you all.
