Day 5

Passion Week.

Today (day 5) is a day so full it cannot be contained in one day, it spills over into the night.

It was Preparation Day for the Passover.

Matthew 26: 17 Now on the first day of Unleavened Bread the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the Passover?”
18 And He said, “Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, ‘The Teacher says, “My time is near; I am to keep the Passover at your house with My disciples.”’”
19 The disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.

Look at 19. They did as Jesus had directed them!

Let that sink in.

Here’s a link to

Matthew 26

for your convenience.  All Text references are linked for your ease of reading.

And in the PM the Passover began at 6 o’clock.  Dr. Younce’s chart [Italics and Text references I have added] reads:

1st cup  (see Luke 22:17-20)
LORD’s Supper (see Matthew 26:26-29; Mark 14:22-25; Luke 22:14-23; I Cor. 11:23-26)
Wash Disciples’ Feet (see John 13:1-20)
Dismissal of Judas (see John 13: 27-30)
Upper Room Discourse (see John 13:31-14:31)

And what a rich discourse it was! Such as
‘Let not your heart be troubled:
In My Father’s House are many mansions
I will not leave you as orphans, the Helper will come

Get up, let us go from here.

MIDNIGHT (comes and He is still teaching. He has had little precious sleep this week, desiring to give His all to His disciples before He gave HIS ALL.)

Teaching on the Way to Gethsemane (See John 15 and 16)
(His) High Priestly Prayer (See John 17)
(His) Garden Prayer (See Matthew 26:36-46; Mark 14:32-42; Luke 22:39-46; John 18:1)
(His) Arrest (See Matthew 26:47-56; Mark 14:43-52; Luke 22:47-53; John 18:2-11)

John 18: 3 Judas then, having received the Roman cohort and officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.
via John 18 NASB – Judas Betrays Jesus – When Jesus had – Bible Gateway.

Really, you need to read the TEXT and watch Him interact with them. He is AWESOME!
They came after Him with lanterns, torches and weapons!
Yep! it’s a dark world out there without Him and lanterns and torches and carnal weapons, give humans no hope.

1st Religious Trial (See John 18:12-14, 19-23)
Peter’s Denials Begin (See John 18:17)
2nd Religious Trial (See John 18:24; Matthew 26:57-68; Mark 14:53-65; Luke 22:54, 63-65)

Friday was (is) approaching!

ABBA, this is more than a soul can absorb in one sitting, much of the Scripture Text even I have skimmed as this post was written; so much to read and see and experience, so HOLY SPIRIT, let me not just be a writer of this blog post but a reader and doer of Your Word contained here.  And I pray that too for every dear soul who comes here to read and pray.  And for every heavy heart that finds his or her way to this page, I pray You will encourage them and You will reveal to them how they can triumph in and over their pain, illnesses, diseases, broken relationships, estranged loved ones, needs, wants, lacks and all things that they bring in heart here.  LORD JESUS, thank You for being our GOD, our Savior, our LORD and Coming KING. Amen and . . .   .

Day 4

Passion Week

For my posts this week I am following a chart provided to me by a dear Sister who received it from a local theologian (Dr. Dale Younce), as well as my copy of The Reese Chronological Bible. And these sources indicate that Day 4, Wednesday, compared to previous days was relatively quiet in the early hours of the day. However,  in the PM Religious Leaders got down to some real plotting to kill JESUS.

Mark 14:1-2 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
Death Plot
1 Now the Passover and Unleavened Bread were two days away; and the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to seize Him by stealth and kill Him;
2 for they were saying, “Not during the festival, otherwise there might be a riot of the people.”
via Matthew 26:1-5; Mark 14:1-2; Luke 22:1-2 NASB – The Plot to Kill Jesus – When Jesus had – Bible Gateway.

And then came the scandalous anointing.

Mark 14:3-9 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
3 While He was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper, and reclining at the table, there came a woman with an alabaster vial of very costly perfume of pure nard; and she broke the vial and poured it over His head.
4 But some were indignantly remarking to one another, “Why has this perfume been wasted?
5 For this perfume might have been sold for over three hundred denarii, and the money given to the poor.” And they were scolding her.
6 But Jesus said, “Let her alone; why do you bother her? She has done a good deed to Me.
7 For you always have the poor with you, and whenever you wish you can do good to them; but you do not always have Me.
8 She has done what she could; she has anointed My body beforehand for the burial.
9 Truly I say to you, wherever the gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be spoken of in memory of her.”
via Matthew 26:6-13; Mark 14:3-9 NASB – The Precious Ointment – Now when Jesus – Bible Gateway.

Research provided the value of ONE denarii at the time: a day’s wage for workers and Roman Troops. Yet this bottle of perfume was not a day’s pay it was 300 days’ pay! And she did not withhold a drop of it! She broke the vial and gave it all! Can you imagine the holiness that would permeate this land if all who name the Name of CHRIST as their Savior were as generous as this Woman?  Can we even fathom how much she loved Him?  Can we even get a glimpse of what this meant to JESUS in His sinless humanity? He knew her heart; He knew her motives; He knew the love she was demonstrating.  In my sanctified imagination, I think the aroma of this costly oil remained in His hair, in His beard (what they left of it), and as He was beaten and mocked and as He walked to Calvary and as He bore my sin and your sin and her sin, He remembered her love for Him. It was a solace to Him.

YES! She did a very good deed indeed! I want to talk with her and thank her one day, don’t you?

ABBA, I am so grateful to have this account of this Woman who loved JESUS so much; grateful for the account to read and more grateful that she actually did it. I am looking forward to talking with her and thanking her someday. Thank You, HOLY SPIRIT, for recording this for us. And today, HOLY SPIRIT, reveal to us more and more this Sacrifice that You made for us, JESUS. Help us give ourselves more and more in love with You, JESUS. Thank You, for every step You took, LORD, for every Word You spoke, for every deed You did not just in this Passion Week but for all eternity. Thank You, LORD, thank You. Amen and . . .   .
