That Just Might Be

It’s a rainy Tuesday afternoon. The view out my present window is more than pleasant. It’s a gift. I am grateful.

I have some thoughts I recorded on Sunday. They are still strolling around in there. So, I am here to share – I think.

The initiator of this line of thinking was a few words from a sermon I heard – basically the premise was we need to work to build the Kingdom of GOD. That I can agree with.
And even as I do I am mindful that Folks could ask, how.
Sermons often tell us to serve; some sermons even suggest we serve in the nursery, take cupcakes to a neighbor, and the like.
I agree with that too. But does not GOD expect more?

I think He does.

Let me tell you what came to mind that we might consider service in The Kingdom of GOD.

Let us go to Galatians 5:22-23.
I am confident you know the passage.

Galatians 5:22-23  (NKJV)
22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,
23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. source

When I choose to love instead of hate that just might be Kingdom Work.

When I choose to refuse to give up on joy when devastation is beating down my door.
When I choose to remain in peace when war is raging all around and I actually want to join up.

When I choose to let it go when I have been wronged again by a brother or sister; when I avenge not but leave that to Father, while I pray for Him to bless them.

When I choose to be kind, doing what is helpful and needful even when a brother or sister has actually maligned me.

When I choose goodness, to do it and see it when that is not what I want to do or see.

When I want to let it slide just this once but instead I choose to be faithful.
When I choose to keep choosing faithful obedience to Thus Said The LORD especially when NO ONE is looking.

When I choose to respond gently even though I want to go in with words flying and sword-wielding.
When I choose to tell my flesh, my wants, myself, NO. Saying to myself, I shall obey Holy Spirit.

This I believe is how we serve GOD.
Day by day.

Obedient Choice after Obedient Choice.
Working in the nursery and baking cupcakes may be included.

Carpet Color?

Have you as I often heard or even said yourself, we can agree to disagree?”

I have come to think that is not Biblical.
I have yet to find an address in Scripture that says we are allowed to agree to disagree.
Example.
Paul and Barnabas had such a disagreement they parted company.
They did not agree to disagree.
Their disagreement had to do with John Mark. (Don’t you just love that name? John Mark. Sounds like his mama could have yelled that out the backdoor so well.)

Paul did not want John Mark to go along on their next missionary journey and Barnabas did.
Check it out
HERE.
Sometime later Paul changed his mind about John Mark. (2 Timothy 4:11)
So perhaps he and Barnabas came to a time they could keep company again even before they got to Heaven.
I hope so.

It is the will of the Father that His children be of one accord. (See Acts 2)

Scripture asks us this question:

Amos 3:3  (NKJV) Can two walk together, unless they are agreed? source

In the Body of Christ, we don’t get to agree to disagree over Sin.
We don’t get to agree to disagree over Scripture.
We get to come together in one accord and pray until we KNOW what GOD has said and we both agree with HIM which puts us in agreement with one another.

Red carpet or Blue carpet?
Really? Are we going to divide the Body over that?!
For these kinds of matters to bring us to hot words and slamming doors means we have far, far, far uglier problems in our hearts than carpet color.download (6)
