This chapter is too full for me to fully know today but may I share with you what I see thus far?
This passage so brings JESUS to mind.
It reads like Him.
It describes Him.
It describes perhaps 730 years before He came to earth what He would endure on our behalf.
Look at verse 4 with me, please.
4 Adonai Elohim has given me the ability to speak as a man well taught, so that I, with my words, know how to sustain the weary.
Each morning he awakens my ear to hear like those who are taught. source
And what did JESUS say in Matthew 11:28?
Who else but He could say this: 28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. source
Do you remember what the counsel said about Peter and John?
13 Now as they observed the confidence of Peter and John and understood that they were uneducated and untrained men, they were amazed, and began to recognize them as having been with Jesus.
source
The learned men were amazed at the unlearned men and why were they amazed?
They recognized they had been with JESUS.
Yes, our JESUS was well taught by HOLY SPIRIT every jot and tittle of the Pentateuch, the Historical Books, the Writings, the Prophets.
JESUS knew His Father’s Word.
We have that privilege too — to be taught by HOLY SPIRIT.
Verse 5 speaks of one who neither rebelled nor turned away.
Who could that be but JESUS?
Hebrews 4: 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
source – New American Standard Bible 1995
Verse 6 tells of one who offered his back; who was insulted and spit upon.
Again. JESUS.
Matthew 26:67 and John 19:1 – Read HERE.
Verse 7 tells us He said no insult would wound him.
Now we know that must be JESUS.
Read with me my confirming New Testament verse.
34 Yeshua said, “Father, forgive them; they don’t understand what they are doing.”
source
Who else but JESUS would not have been offended at the insults, the cruelty of man against Him?
Verse 7 further reads:
This is why I have set my face like flint, knowing I will not be put to shame. source
And what does the New Testament have to say about this?
Luke 9:51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem, (KJV)
We need the Old Testament and the New Testament if we want a full picture of JESUS.
And fortunately, we have access to both.
We have paper and ink copies; we have internet access to multiple translations; we even have access to Scripture on our phones.
We have access. We have no excuse.
