On Purpose

It told a story. A story of a boy and girl gone sour.
A story of drowning sorrow and chasing blues.

I still hear it — I don’t want to hear it but it comes uninvited.

Songs matter.
Lyrics matter.
Music matters.

The words live on after the song is played.
So be careful what the lyrics say.

Do the lyrics give you hope?
Do they encourage you to live healthily, and wholesomely?
Do they let you know there is GOD; that He cares and He will help you?

No?
Then why listen  — on purpose?

  1. Oh my! This is so true. Makes me think of a line from a childrens song:

Be careful little ears what you hear. For the Father up above is looking down in love. So be careful little ears what you hear.

We would be wise to filter what we listen to with the knowledge that God the Father is watching. What are you listening to? Does it honor God? Does it bring you closer to Him? How do you feel after you listen to it? Does it change your behavior? Where do your thoughts go after you listen to it?
These are serious questions to ask yourself, on purpose.
Thank you for the reminder to protect the beautiful ears God gave us so we can live a holy and righteous life.
