Mirror – Beautiful

1 Chronicles 17

Did you know that 1 Chronicles 17 and 2 Samuel 7 are companion chapters?
I didn’t until today, specifically.
Today, as I began to read I said to myself, wait this reads like what I read a few days ago.
So, I checked, and yes 1 Chronicles 17 and 2 Samuel 7 mirror each other.

Even though the information mirrors one another, the account was fresh today.
A different portion lifted off the page today.
Here, let me share it with you.

I encourage you to either pick up your own copy of Scripture or use this LINK and read verses 16 – 27.  Beautiful.  Absolutely beautiful.

David got the news, you are not going to build a House for Me.
He took it in stride and went to sit before the LORD.
And he began to talk to the LORD.
He said to Him what my daughters and I have said often.

16 Then David went in, sat before Adonai and said, “Who am I, Adonai, God, and what is my family, that has caused you to bring me this far?   source

And as I kept reading:

19 Adonai, it is for your servant’s sake and in accordance with your own heart that you have done all this greatness and revealed all these great things.   source

Have you ever read anything so beautiful?

IN ACCORDANCE WITH HIS VERY OWN HEART — and for the sake of His servant, HE has done these things.

Is GOD good to you?
Now you know why — simply because He is GOD and He wants to and because He is GOD, He can NEVER want to do less than GOOD for you.

As I close, please be sure to read verses 16-27.
You don’t want to miss the beauty, the wonder, and the awe.

In particular — let us shout this not only with our voices but our deeds:

20 Adonai, there is no one like you, and there is no God besides you — everything we have heard confirms that.  source

You Are The Man

Good Friday Morning.

2 Samuel 12

As I am in the process, I think I will not be long here.

Nathan and David.

ADONAI sent Nathan to David.
I am rejoicing over this and requesting.
Perhaps we all have people in our circle that say they love JESUS but the way they live denies Him. There’s hardly anything in this world more grievous than that.  I can imagine that Nathan was not gleeful when he got the commission to go and speak to David.  Perhaps you will read 2 Samuel 12 today.

Nathan told David a story, perhaps a parable would be a more appropriate word.  David listened. And David handed down a judgment.  And then Nathan said.

Natan said to David, “You are the man.   source

I hope you will read what happened next.

I don’t think we are wrong to ask The Father to raise up and send “Nathans” to floundering, off the Righteous Path people in our lives — or even ourselves when we need help repenting.  And pray when they hear the words: “You are the man (or woman)” they will say what David said.

13 David said to Natan, “I have sinned against Adonai.”  source

You know when those words are spoken with a true and contrite heart, they are rejoicing words!  The angels of Heaven rejoice and the  (witnessing) Saints of earth do as well!

Pray for your families. Pray for your friends. Pray for ourselves. It’s Biblical.

Love, Kathie

Off the Cuff

2 Samuel 7
Two observations, I think.

Sometimes, even Prophets give counsel off the cuff and GOD corrects.

Want to see why I say that?

Verse Natan said to the king, “Go, do everything that is in your heart, for Adonai is with you.”   source

Now, look what happened.

But that same night the word of Adonai came to Natan: source

See that? But that same night.  Quick action.
I love that Father keeps close tabs on His own.
Do you?

Here’s just one verse of what HE said.
Perhaps you will read more.

“Go and tell my servant David that this is what Adonai says: ‘You are going to build me a house to live in?   source

One more observation from these verses.
GOD listens!

These two brothers (in Faith) were talking to each other! Father GOD was listening.
Do you like that HE listens to our conversations with one another?
I do. I really do. Each and every one of them.
And I LOVE that HE listens AND corrects His own.
Do you?

The Scratch

At this juncture in my 67-year-old life, rights are important. One I highly treasure is LIFE. Beyond that, many of the rights I see extolled today may be best defined as social demands.

I watched a video today of homeless college students in California, actually living in their vehicles. I admire them so much! I saw them as intelligent, capable, determined, well-groomed, articulate, courteous, etc. Amazing young souls who in days or perhaps years to come will wow their worlds with their contributions!

A commentator asked if college housing should be made a right. What a tragedy that would be! Albeit, this is a phenomenal ministry opportunity for God’s people to come alongside with appropriate helps and comforts. I am convinced making it a right implemented and administered by our political system would hinder the building of grit, confidence, ingenuity, accomplishment, and more for many. Am I romanticizing what these particular young people are doing? Perhaps a tad, but would not it be grand if all our lives were lived as an earthly romance with a heavenly quest?

Can you imagine these young people when they finish this college adventure with little to no debt because of their own choices and sacrifices, how confident and strong they will be? A Psychologist told me he and his colleagues had discovered we only value those things into which we have invested ourselves (including our money) – what costs us little or nothing we deem of little or no value.

2 Samuel 24:24 New Living Translation (NLT)
24 But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it, for I will not present burnt offerings to the LORD my God that have cost me nothing.” So David paid him fifty pieces of silver for the threshing floor and the oxen.

Each of us has the God-given right to life. Beyond that we are owed what we earn.

Romans 13:8 New Living Translation (NLT)
8 Owe nothing to anyone—except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbor, you will fulfill the requirements of God’s law.

2 Thessalonians 3:10 New Living Translation (NLT)
10 Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.”

Genesis 3:17-19 New Living Translation (NLT)
17 And to the man he said,
“Since you listened to your wife and ate from the tree
whose fruit I commanded you not to eat,
the ground is cursed because of you.
All your life you will struggle to scratch a living from it.
18 It will grow thorns and thistles for you,
though you will eat of its grains.
19 By the sweat of your brow
will you have food to eat
until you return to the ground
from which you were made.
For you were made from dust,
and to dust you will return.”

It’s not love that motivates us (or Systems) to negate The Scratch!

Wait! A thousand times NO! This is NOT a license to neglect, abandon, abuse or in any wise cause harm to one another. GOD also tells us in

1 Timothy 5:8 King James Version (KJV)
8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

It is not Political Systems that should feed, clothe, shelter, provide medical coverage, or educate any of us.
Political Systems enslave the ones they ‘help’.
BUT GOD! Well, The Scratch is a holy gift to each of us – young and old.
What shall we do with it?!
