Milk and Honey

Deuteronomy 6 is one of my favorite passages of Scripture.

Put your soul around it as you read these three verses.

Deuteronomy 6 AMP) “Now this is the command; the statutes and the judgments (precepts) which the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you, so that you might do (follow, obey) them in the land which you are crossing over [the Jordan] to possess,

so that you and your son and your grandson may fear and worship the Lord your God [with awe-filled reverence and profound respect], to keep [and actively do] all His statutes and His commandments which I am commanding you, all the days of your life, so that your days may be prolonged.

Therefore listen, O Israel, and be careful to do them, that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly [in numbers], as the Lord, the God of your fathers, has promised you, in a land flowing with milk and honey.  source

What do you feel as you read?

Yes. We can feel the Bible.
We can experience the Author as we read.
The Bible is like no other book in the Universe.
The Bible is filled with promises that we can own, if we choose.

Read the verses again.

How many promises do you see in just these three verses?

Milk and Honey . . . only the beginning.

And what about milk and honey? What must there be for a land to flow with milk and honey? First, the flow means there is LOTS of it! Lots of milk. Lots of honey. For there to be lots of milk you have to have lots of livestock: cattle, sheep, and goats.  And to have lots of cattle, sheep, and goats you have to LOTS and LOTS of grass; lots of green pastures.  And to have lots of honey, what do you have to have? Yep. LOTS of flowers and veggies.  Get the picture? We are talking fertile, abundantly producing. Green. Lush. Bee tee full!  :)

See what I mean? Dig in! Dig into the Scriptures and let the Milk and Honey flow!

I probably should save this post for tomorrow. But I’m not. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writing it. Happy Thursday!

I Do

This verse was penned to the Nation of Israel before they entered the Land He promised them.

Deuteronomy 4:For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the Lord our God [is to us] whenever we call on Him?   source

Yet today as the Church of the Living Christ can we not appropriate it? Will you call on Him today with me for this Nation that we may again take Him as our GOD?

Up and Coming

I’ve done some deep ponderings this morning spanning years reaching back to the late 1800s when my great grandparents, Sallie and James, breathed younger air. I hope that is right, all I remember hearing people call him was Pappy. Sallie, I am sure of but Mammy was her handle. I don’t remember the year of the birth of my grandmother Callie. It could have been 1899 or so but maybe not as her firstborns were born in 1924;  my Momma and her twin.

Generations of the Living. How we do that living is more important than we often ponder. I’m now 67, in less than half a year that number will be 68. In these 67 years I have seen seven, yes seven (7), generations of my people walking this Earth’s crust – well, James not so much walking yet. 🥰 And I pondered these generations of my people and our kin – gosh! there’s a lot of us! I have not even a good estimate as to who were church-goers and who was not. Reaching back that far I don’t even know the names of all my kin, let alone if they loved JESUS. But of this conclusion I am certain, watching the years that I have – if you go to church and don’t take church home with you to do as Deuteronomy 6 commands, you open the floodgates of hell to deluge your children and your children’s children and your children’s children’s children to the 4th and 5th, maybe even 7th generation and beyond. We all are built upon what was built and JESUS CHRIST is the only safe, solid, strong and steady foundation that will give our Babies a fighting chance. If we violate Deuteronomy 6:4-9, the hedge is down.

But the good news is we can start Today to put that Hedge in place for those up and coming and we can pray for miracles for us old folks. 🥰

Today

One of the best words I can give you today comes from Deuteronomy 20.  I’ll give you a link. Deuteronomy 20:3, 4.

. . . Do not be afraid, or panic, or tremble [in terror] . . .

for the LORD your God is He who goes with you . .  .

Goes with you to class, to work, to confront, to comfort, to the memorial service, to the store for groceries, or clothes, or shoes. He goes with you. Today!
