Humor Me with a Honey Cake

Perhaps you will humor me today; or perhaps by post’s end you will have adopted an appreciation for an uncommon to us Observance.

Yom Kippur, also referred to as The Day of Atonement, begins at 6:00 pm tonight.  I can think of nothing we need more than to be reminded of our need for Atonement.  As I said, humor me.

[source] (I encourage you to read the article in its entirety from which I took this paragraph.):

Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) is one of two Jewish High Holy Days. The first High Holy Day is Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year). Yom Kippur falls ten days after Rosh Hashanah on the 10th of Tishrei, which is a Hebrew month that correlates with September-October on the secular calendar. The purpose of Yom Kippur is to bring about reconciliation between people and between individuals and God.

Reconciliation between people to people and individuals to GOD. Can you think of anything needed more? Neither can I!

And if you want a more ‘religious’ view of Yom Kipper, I invite you to the Bible Gateway Blog. There you will read in part:

While most Christians today don’t observe the Day of Atonement, it remains significant because, like many events and ordinances in the Old Testament, it foreshadows the redeeming work of Jesus Christ.

The Day of Atonement was an annual reminder of God’s grace and of man’s need for forgiveness. Reading it in the light of the New Testament, seeing it also as a signpost pointing ahead to Christ, lends it even more significance. With the sacrifice of Easter well behind us and the promise of Christmas still months away, Yom Kippur is a good opportunity for Christians to reflect on the atonement God offers to us through Jesus Christ.

Am I advocating a 25 hour fast beginning this early evening? Not necessarily. But I am advocating that we who are Christians would be blessed to commemorate Yom Kippur with reverence, with something out of the ordinary to call attention to JESUS our Savior, our ATONEMENT; to carefully, lovingly and with cheerfulness bring JESUS to the minds of our family and friends; to pray aloud together as a family; to read the Scripture together detailing this most Holy Observance. Something to honor JESUS and represent to our families that HE is our Atonement and we are indeed grateful!!

Another tradition I just learned about today that I wish I had known earlier – I would so like to do a modified rendition of this Observance. I’d have to get it prepared and delivered before 6:00 pm tonight. It is the baking of Lekach (Honey Cake) and giving it to your family as a symbol and a reminder of God’s SWEET provisions for His people in the coming year.  Read more HERE.

I even have some links for recipes. I hope you will read and enjoy. Perhaps even bake a honey cake for your family today.

11 And not only that, but we shall also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. [source]

ABBA, thank You. Thank You LORD YESHUA for becoming our Atonement. Thank You HOLY SPIRIT for quickening this Revelation of Salvation to us and thank You for allowing me to hear and learn of this rich and blessed and wonderful Observance and not just this one but all of them. Thank You for blessed and holy traditions. And help me as a Christian, non-Jewish by birth, but at my re-birth coming into the family of Abraham to give You and Your Feasts reverence and honor.  I suspect I am not saying that just right but You know what I mean; I have said it so many times, I mean to me being a Messiah Jew would be the best of both. So thank You for allowing me to learn and thank You for increasing my AWE of You; for You are indeed AWESOME; smarter, wiser, more wonderful and glorious than I have yet to see and experience. But I am learning and I am so grateful. Thank You LORD.

Anybody?

1 John 1:21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

via 1 John 1:8-10 KJ21;CJB – If we say that we have no sin, we – Bible Gateway.

Anybody just want to say thank You for this truth?!

and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness?

Anybody getting this with me? Repentance and confession = CLEAN!

And those mercies for cleansing are new this morning (Lamentations 3:21-23) and late at night too! :)

Be Hidden in CHRIST,

ABBA, thank You for Your mercy that cleanses us from ALL unrighteousness. Thank You that Your Blood, LORD JESUS, is enough to cleanse the chief of sinners. Thank You that You answer our prayers; and thank You that sometimes Your answer is No.
Thank You that Jamie is home eating and enjoying her family. Still we ask that You heal her; that chemo be successful with minimal side effects. And I ask this for Terri too. Lift up the families of these I pray. Thank You that Dylan is doing so much better. I pray for continued healing and a full recovery soon. Heal Leon too I pray. And I am continuing to ask for miracles of needed kinds for Others and Kerri. Dori. Lance, Adalynn, Alyssa. Anna. And for Debbie – textbook perfect surgery on Wednesday and a full recovery I pray. And just general stuff for families – life seems really hard, ABBA, help us to be not despondent and discouraged but rather believe You for victory for our children and grandchildren. And, ABBA, I pray for kindness in the CHURCH and help for grieving parents – The Warrens particularly come to mind. And, ABBA, Another comes to mind and I ask You to comfort her. Many troubles, all around; we just ask for help to live victoriously – cleansed of all our unrighteousness for JESUS sake. And I would not forget Israel: peace, protection and the subduing of her enemies I pray. And for America, my first request is that You pour out HOLY SPIRIT conviction and that a wave of repentance would sweep this land from shore to shore.

Permission To Speak

Permission to Speak Freely. I understand it is a military term spoken to a Superior Officer for leave to be candid with said Officer.  (Please correct me if I am wrong.)

I believe there is a Sect of People with such an attitude (a belief system) toward Christians, and I might add, only Christians. To all others such demand is not applied.

I have some good news! We have Permission to Speak Freely from the HIGHEST AUTHORITY in the Universe. Actually more than Permission; rather a privilege and a command.

8 Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples.
9 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; speak of all His wonders.
10 Glory in His holy name; let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad.

via I chron 16 NASB – A Tent for the Ark – And they brought – Bible Gateway.

4 And in that day you will say, “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name. Make known His deeds among the peoples; Make them remember that His name is exalted.”
5 Praise the Lord in song, for He has done excellent things; Let this be known throughout the earth.

1 Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; Make known His deeds among the peoples.
2 Sing to Him, sing praises to Him; Speak of all His wonders.
3 Glory in His holy name; Let the heart of those who seek the Lord be glad.

via Ps 105 NASB – The LORD’S Wonderful Works in Behalf – Bible Gateway.

Allow me to call your attention to

MAKE KNOWN HIS DEED AMONG THE PEOPLES.
SPEAK OF ALL HIS WONDERS

Make known His deeds among the peoples;
Make them remember that His name is exalted.”

Let this be known throughout the earth.

We have permission to speak without apology and without PERMISSION from ‘Man’.  Our Father has NOT called us to arrogance. He has NOT called us to obnoxious-ness. He has NOT called us to offensiveness. Albeit to the unrepentant and unbelieving our message and our commission may be offensive; even as was our Savior, JESUS THE CHRIST, perceived offensive by the ‘religious’. That has not changed. Even so we have Permission to Speak Freely.  Moreover we have the privilege and command to do so.   Now is the time.  Would you agree?

One more caution.
One more admonishment to myself and to you.
WAIT before and upon THE LORD for HIM to empower you so you can speak this message with and IN HIS LOVE, knowing you may be perceived as offensive, until the soul who hears chooses to repent and then it shall be the BEST NEWS  s/he has or ever shall hear!

18 When I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn him or speak out to warn the wicked from his wicked way that he may live, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand.
19 Yet if you have warned the wicked and he does not turn from his wickedness or from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered yourself.

via Ez 3 NASB – Ezekiel’s Commission – Then He said – Bible Gateway.

ABBA, seal this in my heart least I forget and at the appointment time come to You with blood on my hands. Let that not be, ABBA. Let it not be. In JESUS name let that not be.

We are accountable,

Right?

I was just discussing a matter with ABBA that I have brought to Him many times and I said, “Why do I keep doing this to myself? I know better. ” His reply was immediate.

James 4:17 New King James Version (NKJV)

17 Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.

via James 4:17 NKJV – Therefore, to him who knows to do good – Bible Gateway.

So what was the subject for discussion? Does it matter? And if I don’t say you can plug-in your own. Right?

Thank You, ABBA. I am without excuse but not without Your love, mercy, grace, forgiveness and strength. Neither are they. Thank You, ABBA, in JESUS name.

Blessings to you Dear Friends    +++

Remember YOU have the God-given RIGHT to do right in this wrong world!
