First

The first day of December in the year of our LORD 2020.

2020
Does it seem as unreal to you as it does to me? I remember the approach of 2000. We thought the world was coming to an end as we knew it. It didn’t. I am grateful.

2020 has been more challenging than the clock ticking from 1999 to 2000. It is not an understatement to say 2020 gave us a worldwide event.
Perhaps arguably the first time in history the whole world was affected simultaneously by the same event.
I say arguably because I can think of one other event, I was not there at the time, but I’ve read about it, the Fall of man in the Garden of Eden. That one event made ALL mankind hell-deserving sinners.
And I dare say if not for that Fall, all the evil of 2020 would not be.
But back to First.

As I set to prepare this post for the first day of December, I found a Scripture verse for us to contemplate.

John 20:19  (AMP) 1So when it was evening on that same day, the first day of the week, though the disciples were [meeting] behind barred doors for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them, and said, “Peace to you.” source

As we set upon this FIRST day of December, the last month of 2020, would we not hear these words of our Savior?

“Peace to you”

HE spoke these words to His disciples hiding out behind barred doors because they were afraid for their lives.
YESHUA came to them.
Barred doors did not impede HIM.
Is there anything that can impede HIM from speaking PEACE to you?

Day 23

Day 23 of The Giving of Thanks.

Hearing.
Actually, all our five senses. Seeing. Smelling. Tasting. Touching. Hearing.
The ability to hear.
What a gift!
Whether it be the slightest of sounds like a larger than usual earring smoothly gliding over your neck, the chime of the Grandfather clock standing stately against the wall, the squeal of a two-year old that you love more than your next breath, the yelp of your Lab as you step out the door, the chirping of your phone, that special one or two sounds because it’s your Girls calling, or even a YouTube streaming a favored song.
Let me not be remiss here – I must mention spiritual hearing – hearing the Voice of GOD – sweetly, correctively, encouragingly, or declaring to our cold, afraid soul, His warmth and security.

John 10:27  (NKJV) 27 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. source

Ecclesiastes 12:13  (AMP) 13 When all has been heard, the end of the matter is: fear God [worship Him with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is almighty God] and keep His commandments, for this applies to every person. source

Now for a favored hearing from YouTube.
It’s special.

On her 12th Christmas, Baby Girl gifted me with the playing of Fur Elise on our old upright piano. This Momma cried happy tears that Christmas morning.
This is not Baby Girl’s playing but it’s still a pleasure.
Enjoy. :)

Day 21

Day 21 of The Giving of Thanks

Fresh Berry Cobbler.
And I say that even before I taste it. I am trusting it will be tasty. Other cobblers have been all these years. That simple little few ingredient recipe. The same one that Little Girl would stand in the kitchen and wait for it to cool just enough to eat it, many years ago. I think she still would – it’s vegan. :)

Happy Saturday, my Friends.

Genesis 1:11 (NLT) 11 Then God said, “Let the land sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.” And that is what happened. source

John 15:5  (NKJV) “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. source

Galatians 5:22-26 (NKJV) 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. source

Revelation 22:2 (TLV) down the middle of the city’s street. On either side of the river was a tree of life, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. source

Day 15

Day 15 of The Giving of Thanks.

Little Things.
Little things that remind me of big things, important things, like the love of Little Girl. Little Girl moved hundreds of miles from me 5 years ago. Before the selling of the house, these little ‘ears’ that she couldn’t kill, came home with me. They are still mighty little but each time I walk by I am reminded of her BIG love.

There is one who loves us bigger than Little Girl loves me; bigger than your bestest love loves you.

John 3:16  (NKJV) 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. source

Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV) 17 The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” source

I can’t say that this next verse is a feel-good verse but I can’t get away from it.

Zechariah 8:17 (NKJV) 17 Let none of you think evil in your heart against your neighbor; And do not love a false oath. For all these are things that I hate,’ Says the Lord.” source

And one more word of thanks. Brothers and birthdays. William. Today, some years ago, this world was graced with his presence. I love his smile and I love that he loves me.
