Day 10 – The Kitchen

Day 10

Luke 10  BSB

Luke 10 opens with YESHUA appointing and sending out 72 others to proclaim the Kingdom and to heal the sick.
He told them He was sending them out as lambs among wolves. And they went!

Verse 16.
Don’t miss it.
And while you are not missing verse 16, don’t miss verse 20.
In Verse 21 JESUS just breaks out in praise!  I hope you are reading the Text. Please don’t miss it.

Moving on in the text YESHUA is confronted by a Law Expert.
Be careful when you meet such folk.
Do what JESUS did.
Listen carefully and respond with questions.

Notice please, that particular Law Expert answered correctly with his mouth but his heart was far from GOD.

Martha and Mary.
What do we learn from them?
What do we learn of JESUS in this encounter?
One thing (among others) we get the Truth from JESUS.
His love for us does not cause Him to mince words. We can trust Him for the truth.

41“Martha, Martha,” the Lord replied, “you are worried and upset about many things. 42 But only one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, and it will not be taken away from her.”

I cannot vouch for the picture’s validity, but it’s plausible, don’t you think?39dbfbb6a25243e2978987b4dde11ed6
Let me paraphrase verses 41 and 42 in a gentle, most loving tone, Martha, Martha, I am not going to tell Mary to join you in the kitchen right now but my dear Martha, you, may join her and ME here. Come, sit with us.

I think just one more verse before I leave this post.  Martha. Did you notice what she said in verse 40?
40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations to be made. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!”

One. She must have assumed if JESUS told Mary to get up and head to the kitchen that she would; she must have seen some obedience in Mary. I like that.
Two. I see Martha doing what I have done too many times — trying to “twist JESUS’ arm to do what we want Him to do”.  It doesn’t work!

“Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Tell her to help me!”

It’s an old tactic. It started in the Garden. Check it out in Genesis 3 BSB.

Day 9 — But What About You?

Day 9

Luke 9 BSB

This is what the Disciples did: verse 6 So they set out and went from village to village, preaching the gospel and healing people everywhere.

What more could I add?

Luke 9 contains the account of the feeding of the 5000.  Verse 17 reads this way: They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over.
The 5000-plus people who ate were fed with 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish — ONLY GOD! o0640036014719578080-3171206390

Peter. I love Peter.  Verse 20 “But what about you?” Jesus asked. “Who do you say I am?”    Peter answered, “The Christ of God.”

What more could any of us add?

Verses 28 – 36 cover the Transfiguration. Let me give you one takeaway from this passage — there are many but here’s one: The Father didn’t choose Moses or Elijah or any other man in all of history to be The Savior of the world. HE chose JESUS and HE means for us to . . .   Listen to Him!” (verse 35).

Verse 43 reads in part: And they were all astonished at the greatness of GOD.   . . .

Let us pray to be astonished at the greatness of GOD!

There’s more, much more. Luke 9

Day 8 Women

Day 8

Luke 8 BSB

As we arrive at Chapter 8, JESUS is traveling from one town and village to another; He is preaching and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of GOD.
And The Twelve are with Him and many others, including women but not just any women. There is Mary called Magdalene — seven demons were cast out of her. No wonder she followed Him! And there were others, women of means as the Scripture says. They traveled too and used their money to support the mission; like Joanna the wife of Herod’s household manager.  I wonder how that went over in Herod’s house? b83b4998194a1c28bd002536ef85d8d2-2085152830

In chapter 8, the Parable of the Sower and the Lesson of the Lamp are told. We learn that as Followers of JESUS, we are His family. We also see The GODMAN asleep.  (This makes me so glad our GOD is Three in One.) Then there is the man in the tombs, driven there by demons BUT JESUS! The Scripture says of him — sitting at JESUS’ feet, clothed and in his right mind.  There could be nothing finer for any of us — sitting, listening, hearing JESUS speak to us, clothed in His righteousness  — that indeed will give us RIGHT MINDS!

And there is more.
I hope you will use the LINK and read or pick up your well-worn Bible and learn from JESUS.
