Wall Calendars

December 31, 2022

Last day.
Are you Ready?

What shall we do?
Shall we invite, rather plead with The Father to give us the wonderful, holy gift of conviction of sin?
On this special day shall we confess our sins, receive His forgiveness and be willing to embrace a new level of obedience?

I wonder how many Folks still have wall calendars?
That’s what we used to call them.
Wall calendars. SouthernLady2023WallCalendar
I guess I still do.

We have one in the kitchen, one in the library, and one inside the door of the dressing room towel closet.
That’s where we record our daily weight.
Well, where I record it if it’s acceptable to me. 😉
J is much more faithful than I am.

What else shall we do today?

Set some goals, maybe?
Let’s see, shall we make a  list of some Books to read?
Or perhaps name the People we want to see — to fellowship with?

Attics to clean? Nah — I don’t even want to think about that today.

I have a pile of sheets to wash.
Not kidding. I want to laundry all of them and freshly stack them in the deacon’s bench at the end of the bed so they are ready all month in January.
You know when things get tucked away for a while they tend to get stale. :)
There’s a message in that if you want to explore it.

Happy New Year’s Eve.watchnight_nw_yrs_eve.364110008_std

Whatever you decide, whatever you do make it something that you can do in JESUS’ name.

Used to be Sins

Since I could not, not write it, I might as well publish it.

Jesus didn’t come because we are just messed up.

He didn’t come because we make mistakes.

He did not have to be born into the limitations of time and the human body because we make mistakes – uh oh I bought a red sweater when the memo said to get a blue one. That’s a mistake!

He came because we are sinners, not just messed up people who make mistakes. And when we do turn from our sins TO HIM we are then transformed from sinner to Saint and we spend the rest of our time on this earth learning to live Saintly.

No more excuses oh I’m just a sinner, GOD understands I can’t help it.

That’s a lie from hell!

If we are born again, Holy Spirit lives within us.

HE RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD!

Are we going to say He in us can’t stop this continual practice of the same old sin over and over and over again?

Are we going to say He can’t deliver us from this perpetual state described as messed up?

Because if we are we better check and see if we actually KNOW The GOD of The BIBLE.

We better make sure we are not preaching on behalf of and serving the god of this world.

It is no honor to GOD when we continue to confess year after year that we are messed up. No!

Preach that without repentance and conversion people are hell-deserving sinners and everyone that dies without turning from sin to GOD will burn in hell. No exceptions.

BUT UPON CONVERSION, when we are indwelt by Holy Spirit we learn to practice less and less sin.

We become victorious over sin day after day.

Anything less fails to give GOD the glory He deserves.

Here’s the truth, some sins I don’t struggle with – they are not even on my radar anymore. Holy Spirit has delivered me from them. I don’t practice them. Am I saying I am victorious over every sin?

No!!!

But I am making progress in my walk with HIM.

I won’t fully make it here (sinless) but that is no excuse to just give up and give in to temptations.

No. No. No.

Pray.

If you cannot say you are making progress and there are ‘used to be sins’ that you just don’t practice anymore, then I am begging you to check to see if you really have a Damascus Road experience with JESUS. Find out if you are truly indwelt by Holy Spirit. See Acts 9. Isaiah 30:15

Ask GOD to let you know if you really have turned from your sins to HIM and read your Bible and continue to pray until He answers you from the pages of your Bible.

Love and good night, Kathie

Not Kidding

Looking at some posts from years ago, I think I should tell you some things change; GOD is not one of them (Hebrews 13:8) — HE does not change but He does change me.

I hope you can say the same.  (Romans 12:2)

So, from time to time some posts may go missing.  Others may remain with a modification or two — as I find them that is.  Twelve years of writing is a lot to cover.  Not kidding.

Love, Kathie

Ooops. Recount. That’s 15 years here at WordPress. 2007 – 2022 (so far). 🥰

Queen of the Night

Something personal.

We have a plant.  Actually two.

Queen of the Night Cactus. Here’s a LINK to read about this special plant — amazing!

One of the two plants bloomed this year!

What is so special about that?
Well, the Queen of the Night Cactus, only blooms at night, and only ONCE does each bloom open; it also closes by morning – not to open again.
Once a bloom develops on the cactus and that bloom begins to turn upward, you must keep watch.
Every night you must check to see if the bloom has opened.

Perhaps this reminds you of a passage of Scripture.
It does me.
The Parable of the Ten Virgins.  Matthew 25:1-13.
I hope you will read it.

5 Now while the groom was delaying, they all became drowsy and began to sleep. 6 But at midnight there finally was a shout: ‘Behold, the groom! Come out to meet him.’

11 Yet later, the other virgins also came, saying, ‘Lord, lord, open up for us.’ 12 But he answered, ‘Truly I say to you, I do not know you.’ 13 Be on the alert then, because you do not know the day nor the hour.

More of our story and perhaps you will see the parallel of the parable.

No upturn yet.
Still, we watched.  A few days passed and then the upturn began – sorry I don’t have a picture of ours but the link above will show you how it looks when it begins to upturn.

Our daily night watch began.  With a flashlight in hand, we stepped onto the back porch and peered into the darkness with the flashlight directed toward the Queen.
Nope. No opening.

On one particular night we looked early, 8:00 ish I think it was.
No opening.
We chose to retire early that night, read Scripture, talked a bit, and we were just about to turn out the light. It was 10:00 ish.
Promptings.
You may think what you like but I am convinced Holy Spirit nudged me to go look.  Again.  And again He nudged.
We have to go I said.
We did.

Look what we would have missed had we ignored the promptings.
We would have missed the most beautiful, glorious flower I have ever seen — in our own backyard even!

And you know what I believe?  Our Father GOD didn’t want us to miss it. He didn’t want us to miss that glorious beauty He prepared for us.
He doesn’t want us to miss the beauty of His Heaven either.  None of us. Not one of us does He not want to come, repent, receive and believe.
All it took was obedience to the call, the promptings of GOD.
That’s all it takes to see the glory of GOD.

What have you missed because you have ignored the promptings of GOD?

The blooms were closed by morning and they opened not again.

Love, KathieÂ
