Facebook Tells!

From the Quietness of the War Room.

Luke 6:45 (NASB) 45 The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.  source

Heart
The chambered muscular organ in vertebrates that pumps blood received from the veins into the arteries, thereby maintaining the flow of blood through the entire circulatory system. source

So obviously the TEXT is speaking of something different.

And from the same source above this:
The vital center and source of one’s being, emotions, and sensibilities. The repository of one’s deepest and sincerest feelings and beliefs. The seat of the intellect or imagination.

For purposes here let’s go with The repository of one’s deepest and sincerest feelings and beliefs.

Mouth:
(Anatomy) the opening through which many animals take in food and issue vocal sounds.  source

Our mouths take in nutrients and let out sounds; in most humans those sounds are called words. Today and for a while now we have had multiple venues to display or express our words. We let them out into the room we are occupying, we speak into a phone and we pick up a pen, pencil, iPad, laptop, desktop, tablet and our phones and we upload our words (to clarify: our words include images, pictures, videos, graphics of all kinds – our own and in context even those of others we choose to share) to all manner of Social Media. I’m doing so right now! Even though you are not hearing my words,  I am surely speaking. Wouldn’t you agree?  :)

And if you have heard me long, you have a more than fairly accurate understanding of what I say because I pretty much put myself out here. Sometimes I think long and hard before I say it; other times it comes quick and the upload is done before I know it. And once it is uploaded and once you have read it, I can’t take it back. Sure I can delete the post but for those who read it before the delete – it’s there; no retrieving it. It’s said!

Words matter, don’t they?

Have you ever heard a word come from your mouth and immediately you wished you could snatch it back? Me too.  And yet my verse today tells me if it had not already been in my heart I would not have said it. (I know, I know there are some exceptions, but by and large, it’s true – hissy fits are not an exception!) Oh what we would learn about ourselves if we would listen to our words, especially our Social Media words.

How’s this for a KT Paraphrase of the ending portion of today’s verse
. . . for our mouths (Facebook pages, Twitter, etc.) speak from that which fills our hearts.

Here’s my suggestion (and perhaps not just mine) let us take a decisive look at our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snap-chat, etc.  words and learn our own hearts. Our legacy, our testimony for JESUS hangs on our words.

Proverbs 18:21 (TLV) 21 Death and life are in the control of the tongue. Those who indulge in it will eat its fruit. source

Defining the Word

Well y’all In A Word didn’t even get to its scheduled posting time before some defining came.

Authentic

I watched a movie last night: Nikki and the Perfect Stranger.

I am no stranger :) to this line of movies. This is the third one by this group that I have eaten up deliciously!

To be authentic this year it cannot be about me; if I FOCUS on me, authentic or not,  I will miss the point.

The minister was asked how do you do this Christian Life thing? Nikki eluded that it had become burdensome – like a check list to her. (And I have had more than my share of checklists.)

He answered: “I don’t allow myself to stop seeing how amazing HE is.”

15 While he was still speaking, behold, a shining cloud [composed of light] overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, This is My Son, My Beloved, with Whom I am [and have always been] delighted. Listen to Him!When the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were seized with alarm and struck with fear. But Jesus came and touched them and said, Get up, and do not be afraid. And when they raised their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. source  Matthew 17

Here’s my sign: Listen to and see Only JESUS!

Matthew 16:24-26 (TLV)

24 Then Yeshua said to His disciples, “If anyone wants to follow after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. 25 For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? source

Shall I paraphrase for this posting?

Whoever concentrates on herself; goes on and on with a what about me lifestyle; or she who indulges in childishly wailing: I am so stupid;  or is repeatedly lamenting: I mess up all the time; (give me a bucket!) and then there’s the I got to do this, I got to do that dirge — I get the idea! As long as I do this life this way, the Life He has for me I will lose! I will not be the authentic me He has envisioned me to be.

In summary, for me to be authentic, I must practice what I write!

Tickled Pink

Psalm 16

It’s been coming to mind since this morning.

If you would like to read it, click HERE.

Adonai, my assigned portion, my cup: you safeguard my share.

This one wraps me in security and comfort even though I search for words to properly and adequately describe it. My assigned portion, my cup; all that falls to me, the stuff of life, family, relationships, all of it He safeguards this for me. I don’t have to defend my stuff. I don’t even have to defend me!

Pleasant places were measured out for me;
I am content with my heritage.

I am content with my heritage. Amazing! The penman of this passage was content with his heritage. Me too! Pleasant places were measured out for me. Does this mean I have no skeletons in my closet? Are you kidding?! The bones are rattling! But all that was before made the path for where I am. And I am more than content about that! I am tickled pink those skeletons and the pleasant places and the unpleasant places ALL pointed, directed and got me to JESUS! And HE has become my heritage! And my future!

Oh yeah I am lovin’ Psalm 16 and my ABBA Who had it penned for me!

For you too if you like. :)
