Should I?

Curiosity or inquisitive; whichever it is I am here – wondering.

I heard tonight from people who should know what they speak and by all means, they should be telling the truth.
They tell me some young people of today are actually interested in THE BIBLE.

Young People and the Bible.
Millennials  and Generation Z (ers)

Are these humans actually interested in the Bible? More than just interested in reading it but actually studying it and obeying it? I mean allowing Holy Spirit to take Scripture and transform them?
To change the way they think, talk, their world-view, what they eat, drink, how they dress, their entertainment, who they live with, who they won’t live with? To be People of THE BOOK?

Have you met such as these?  Are you one of them?

Is it too much to hope that there are males and females between the ages of 40 and 12 that actually want to KNOW GOD and live holy, godly lives; not materialistic, not caught up in cultural movements? Do these special, unique, wonderful humans actually live in America?

O! I want to believe this? Should I?

Some Paraphrasing Today

I have just a few verses for you to read this morning or evening as the case may be where you are.

If you prefer another translation than this one, clicking the word source below will open for you a couple of other translations.

When He arrived at Bethany to see Mary and Martha, the mourning was still in progress. Lazarus had been dead four days and was in the grave. We could say Lazarus was graveyard dead. No chance it was a swoon.

Let’s listen in on JESUS and Martha’s conversation.
First off, she addresses Him as Lord. That’s very good. Because LORD He is. But she says more.
She says to Him if YOU had been HERE he would not have died.
Oh! did she say a mouthful! If You had been here instead of off saving the world, You could have been here with ME doing what I need You to do.
Do we ever talk to JESUS that way?
Are we so familiar with Him that we have no hesitation to say just what we are thinking?
I love that we can be that familiar with Him BUT should not we be so familiar with Him that we would automatically TRUST HIM — PERIOD?
THAT is where I want to be with Him, my Friends. I am not there yet.
Some days I’m like Martha. Some days I’m like Mary. Others days  :)

Okay. What’s next?
FAITH.
She said to Him even though my brother is dead I know You can bring him back to me.
But there is more.
She knows that all that has to happen for it to be so is for JESUS to ask the Father and it will be done.

Do we have such faith as this?

JESUS speaks.
He says your brother will rise again.

And she says. I know that. But that is then. This is now.
Okay. so that is not her actual words but to me, that is what she is saying.
Are we not like her?
She wanted her brother alive and well NOW, not having to wait until the Resurrection to see him again.

Are we any different?

But what does JESUS say to her?
“I AM the Resurrection and the Life! Whoever puts his trust in me will live, even if he dies;
26 and everyone living and trusting in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Do we believe this?

17 and he was given the scroll of the prophet Yesha‘yahu. Unrolling the scroll, he found the place where it was written   source  Luke 4

He found the place where it was written.

And how did He find the place?
No doubt for me, He was well familiar with the scroll of Isaiah.
He knew just where the passage was situated.

How was it He was so familiar do you think, other than He authored it? :)

Just Thinking — out loud

I saw a Facebook post, now I am thinking.
It is true negative comments from others or our own negative thoughts stick with us and it takes a whole lot of positive affirmations to erase even one engrained negative BUT
it does not have to be this way.
Victory is possible!

No brag here. Just fact.
I don’t worry about if I am a good mom.
For one thing, I am a mom, a grandmother, and a great-grandmother.
I should have learned some stuff by now!

And by the Grace of GOD, I have!

No, I am not perfect at any of those roles but because of JESUS, I am good at it.

How does any human come to a place of confidence about anything?

The accolades of others are not a sufficient, lasting way. Why?
When we are insecure there cannot come enough human affirmation to take us the long haul.

There’s a reason humans are insecure.
We innately know we are not enough.

But we don’t have to remain in that not enough mind or being!
WE CAN BELIEVE GOD!

We can acknowledge to Him and to ourselves that we are hell-deserving, depraved sinners in need of a Savior.
We can yield to THIS SAVIOR and we can receive THE MIND of CHRIST.   1 Corinthians 2:16

The CHRIST who is accepted.
The CHRIST who is secure.
The CHRIST who is able.
The CHRIST who is all knowledge, intelligence, goodness, kindness, righteousness — HOLY PERFECTION personified.
AND WE CAN LEARN FROM HIM.
And He will impart grace and strength to us to learn.

And as we learn we come to know in Him we are a good mom.
A good whoever He has brought us along to be.

But let us not kid ourselves – living consistently in the flesh will NEVER grow us into a God-pleasing mom (parent), child, sibling, spouse, writer, builder, artist, teacher, preacher, etc., etc.

I could save this for tomorrow but I’m not.
And I may take tomorrow off —
I’ll be 70 then —- LORD willing!
