Common Types

Day 31 of 35 – Soul Detox

1 John 3:1-24

Devotional

There are three common types of toxic relationships: negative, controlling, and the tempters. Chances are you have experienced all three of these toxic relationships in your life. Chances are that you have been toxic to someone else in one of these three ways. Do as God’s Word says and don’t let yourself be deceived and led astray by toxic relationships. More importantly, don’t be toxic to others because you will lead them astray.
What types of toxic relationships do you currently have more of in your life?

The truth hurts!

For sure on the negative here; confessing there are some negative toxic relationships in my world; have to give the controlling and the tempters some thought. And oh my goodness! I don’t want to be ANY of these to any one else! I am grateful for this Soul Detox session!

And now to the TEXT.

I have asked myself and now I have to ask you. Seriously! What will you do with these verses?

3 And everyone who has this hope in him continues purifying himself, since God is pure.
4 Everyone who keeps sinning is violating Torah — indeed, sin is violation of Torah.
5 You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and that there is no sin in him.
6 So no one who remains united with him continues sinning; everyone who does continue sinning has neither seen him nor known him.

via 1 John 3:1-24 CJB;NIV – See what love the Father has lavished – Bible Gateway.

And this one. How do we reconcile what we see in people and what we read here? And the  politically correct phrase thrown around: ‘don’t judge me’ – how can we not see what is clearly before us? And how is that we are accused of judging when ABBA has clearly given the judgment right here in these passages?

10 Here is how one can distinguish clearly between God’s children and those of the Adversary: everyone who does not continue doing what is right is not from God. Likewise, anyone who fails to keep loving his brother is not from God.

via 1 John 3:1-24 CJB;NIV – See what love the Father has lavished – Bible Gateway.

This is strong and sobering! If it does not make a difference in us, we have surely disbelieved it.

Enjoy! and let us learn!

Day 18 – Soul Detox

Psalms 91:1-16

Devotional

What you fear reveals what you value the most. What you fear reveals where you trust God the least.

What things are you not trusting God with that you need to?

via Soul Detox | YouVersion.com.

What you fear reveals what you value the most.
That tells me something about me.

What you fear reveals where you trust GOD the least.
That tells me more about me.

What things are you not trusting GOD with that you need to?
I see that.

1. You who live in the shelter of ‘Elyon,

who spend your nights in the shadow of Shaddai,

2 who say to Adonai, “My refuge! My fortress!

My God, in whom I trust!” —

3 he will rescue you from the trap of the hunter

and from the plague of calamities;

4 he will cover you with his pinions,

and under his wings you will find refuge;

his truth is a shield and protection.

via Psalms 91:1-16 CJB;NASB – You who live in the shelter of – Bible Gateway.

Using His Creation ABBA explains in terms we can see and understand that HE is our refuge. HE is our protector. HE is worthy of our trust. His truth is a shield and protection for us. Because He IS Truth, all we have to do is believe Him and we will KNOW He is our shield and protector. Enjoy the short video below. Our GOD is for sure NOT a chicken but since He has built into the nature of a chicken such a protective instinct as to go up against something so much bigger than herself, would not her Creator, our ABBA, not shield and protect us?

I found this video at Rural Ramblings. Enjoy! and let us learn!

Word Types

Day 9 – Soul Detox

Proverbs 15:1-33

Devotional

Our words are powerful. They have the power to kill and the power to give life. Throughout the book of Proverbs, Solomon often writes about the dangers and the life-giving abilities of our words. He was very aware of the power of words. As a result, Solomon encourages us all to be aware of the types of words we speak to others and the positive and negative affects they can have.

What types of words do you tend to speak most – toxic or life-giving? Explain.

This strikes me as something important:

2 The tongue of the wise presents knowledge well, but the mouth of a fool spews out folly.

via Proverbs 15:1-33 CJB – A gentle response deflects fury, but a – Bible Gateway.

Presents knowledge well.  A wise soul presents knowledge well. Doesn’t say we have ALL knowledge just that what we have we present well. I like that. That would require good and right thinking, wouldn’t it? I want to meditate on this until it makes a difference in me.

22 Without deliberation, plans go wrong; . . .

via Proverbs 15:1-33 CJB – A gentle response deflects fury, but a – Bible Gateway.

Does this say to you as it says to me that if I am not deliberate about casting down my toxic thinking, my ‘plan’ to think well, will be a failed plan?

And so it is true. Look at this.

28 The mind of the righteous thinks before speaking, but the mouth of the wicked spews out evil stuff.

via Proverbs 15:1-33 CJB – A gentle response deflects fury, but a – Bible Gateway.

This reminds me of something I have been thinking and praying about for a while now. We, people I mean, have forgotten how wicked without CHRIST we really are. We have forgotten that to ABBA sin is WICKED and EVIL. It’s not just a ‘mistake’ to Him. It is wicked and evil.

And this one I am comforted to think on . . .

29 Adonai is far from the wicked, but he listens to the prayer of the righteous.

via Proverbs 15:1-33 CJB – A gentle response deflects fury, but a – Bible Gateway.

He listens to my prayers. Not because I am righteous; far be it — but because JESUS is righteous and HIS righteousness has been imputed to me.  Same for each of you who have said yes to JESUS in salvation. HE hears our prayers!

And there is much praying to do: family, friends, our Nation, the Church, the poor, the hungry, the lost having no Shepherd.
