Boiled Down & Recoiled

Day 17 – Soul Detox

Exodus 4:1-17

Devotional

Fear is having faith, but it’s placing your faith in the wrong things. Fear is placing your faith in the “what ifs”. So much of our fears are focused on things that may or may not happen. There is no reason to fear things that might not even happen. Even people in the Bible struggled in fearing their own “what ifs”. You will read today about Moses’ “what if” fear and how God gave him strength to overcome his fear.

What are some of the “what ifs” that fuel your fears?

Isn’t that startling? Fear is faith – misplaced faith. (perhaps a question to ponder is in whom is our faith placed when we fear?) When we fear a thing we are believing it will happen, even though it has not. Christian Faith is believing GOD. Believing HE will do what HE says HE will do.  Hmmm.

“What ifs”

What are my what ifs?

What if it doesn’t work?
What if he/she will not listen?
What if he/she is hurt?

There are other variations but when boiled down they are all akin? What if this does not end up the way I want it?

And the answer? FAITH – TRUST. Trust the GOD who loves me and loves them even more than I do.

Faith overcomes Fear.  Take a look at Moses (Moshe). He RECOILED at the snake but yet he obeyed and picked it up by the tail even as he was told. Faith gave COURAGE to overcome the fear.  And from personal experience, the fear did not go away BEFORE the action.  There’s a lesson here. Many lessons here.

2 Adonai answered him, “What is that in your hand?” and he said, “A staff.”
3 He said, “Throw it on the ground!” and he threw it on the ground. It turned into a snake, and Moshe recoiled from it.
4 Then Adonai said to Moshe, “Put your hand out and take it by the tail.” He reached out with his hand and took hold of it, and it became a staff in his hand.

You Special

5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. 6 And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’  . . .

via Ex 19 NKJV – Israel at Mount Sinai – In the third – Bible Gateway.

A special treasure to Me above all people.

Yes, Yahweh was talking to Israel when these words were penned by Moses in the Book of Exodus.

But who else was/is The GREAT I AM talking to here?

Galatians 3:29 New King James Version (NKJV)

29 And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.

via Galatians 3:29 NKJV – And if you are Christ’s, then you are – Bible Gateway.

Does that help explain?

Who do you see in verse 29 of Galatians 3? Who is Abraham’s seed? Who are the heirs?

So tell me, is one of those ‘yous’ among that ‘Special Treasure’ YOU? Why? Or why not?

So what does that mean to you? Do you anticipate some soon coming changes as you embrace this truth?

Just thinking . . . hope you are too now.

Blessings to you Dear Friends for a prodigious weekend :)  +++

Remember YOU have the God-given RIGHT to do right in this wrong world!

How About Some Interaction?

Would you oblige me on this one?  I am preparing for Sunday School – Bible Study class in the morning and I’d like to carry your thoughts with me to class – anonymous,  if you prefer.  Here goes.

Israelite judges functioned to resolve civil disputes and presided over criminal hearings but they also served as moral leaders of the nation and military leaders in times of war. An Israelite Judge had broad authority but he or she was not a king.  Deborah was the only female Judge in the Old Testament. Chapters 4 and 5 of Judges speak of her.

What do you make of this?  Does this encourage you? Offend you? What does it do for you to know GOD set a female judge in place in Israel and she fulfilled this position fully, including military battle?

From experience, some of you prefer to respond via email rather than the comment section contained here in the post which is okay with me.  Click HERE for an email window.

Thanks for your help and happy weekend to you!!
