Count On IT!

These words are hanging with me this morning:

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.

This comes from I Peter chapter 1 and they were first written to Believers dispersed from their homeland to far away places and this Word of encouragement reached them:

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.

What was life like for them far from home? Can you imagine?

What is your life like? Perhaps you are not far from home, but home is far from you? 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. Hold firmly today to the WORDs the LORD has already spoken to you.

What has He spoken to you? Has He said You are His and He is Yours? Has He said He will never leave You nor forsake You? Has He said He has plans for good for You?

Another verse came to mind so I looked for it. The one that says His Arm is not shortened that He cannot save.  It is found in Isaiah 59, verse 1. And verse 1 we so love!

Behold, the Lord‘s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

And it is true and we are grateful that it is true. But what about verse 2 and following? We don’t want to read those.

But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

My point? I have good news and bad news!

25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.

What matters is which side of that WORD are we on?

Have our sins separated us or are we confident He will never leave us or forsake us?

His WORD is true and endures forever. His Word NEVER, NEVER, NEVER fails!

Count on it!

ABBA, I am grateful Your Word never fails, I am grateful Your Arm is not shortened and You are able to save; I am grateful that You saved the likes of me; I am grateful that You never leave me nor forsake me; I am grateful that my sins have been taken away by You LORD YESHUA and I am no longer separated from You; I am grateful that I have trusted You; thank You for giving me the gift of faith; I pray that anyone coming here who has not received Your gift of faith to them will receive that gift and use that gift to believe and receive Your gift of Salvation and Eternal Life found ONLY in Your One and Only Son JESUS the Christ, the Messiah and Savior of people. Thank You that Your Word endures forever; You are forever faithful to Your Word in grace and justice. Thank You. And, ABBA, I come this morning with others: Jamie, Pam, Carolyn, Terri, Kerri, and Others and I pray for strength for them; for healing and pain relief; for a blessed birthday celebration; for successful textbook, perfect surgery and recovery; for restoration and reconciliation; for repentance and forgiveness; for wisdom and direction; for open doors and closed doors; for safety and protection; for deliverance from bondage of many kinds; for profitable work; for grace and mercy; for the will to do right; for daily bread and household expenses; all of us fit in here somewhere, ABBA, and I trust You to help us all because You have given us Yourself, You will surely give us all things that pertain to living here and now. Thank You, ABBA. Thank You.

It’s a Pretty World Today

image

ABBA, for sure You made a pretty world; a world for us to inhabit, a world to demonstrate who You are; help us open our eyes and see. Help us open our ears and hear; to be taught as You speak not only from Your Word and with the LIGHT of the world, JESUS the CHRIST, but all that You created. From this window I see You and You are awesome! Your knowledge and wisdom are beyond my comprehension but I praise You and rejoice in who You are. Your design, intricate workings of all things, one aiding the other, colors, air, sun, gravity, on and on. You are indeed GOD, Awesome GOD. Thank You for loving us.

Psalm 19 (0) For the leader. A psalm of David:
(1) The heavens declare the glory of God,
the dome of the sky speaks the work of his hands.
(2) Every day it utters speech,
every night it reveals knowledge. [source]

Psalm 97

The mountains melt like wax at the presence of Adonai,
at the presence of the Lord of all the earth.
The heavens declare his righteousness,
and all the peoples see his glory. [source]

Take a Walk

Mulling over some thoughts this morning related to desiring to please; desiring to be consistently obedient, desiring to just do a better job of living out this Christian Life, I picked up my Bible and began to read aloud as I walked from room to room. It is my custom to continually keep a radio playing Christian music, at various volumes depending on the time of day or night, to bless the house. No I am not kidding; it works for me. So, I said to myself, if Christian music will bless a house, what would the reading of Scripture do?!! So I set out to find out – perhaps it will take more than one day to ascertain the full benefits; although I did enjoy myself I will say.

This is one of the Psalms I read.

146 Halleluyah!

Praise Adonai, my soul!
I will praise Adonai as long as I live.
I will sing praise to my God all my life.

Don’t put your trust in princes
or in mortals, who cannot help.
When they breathe their last, they return to dust;
on that very day all their plans are gone.

Happy is he whose help is Ya‘akov’s God,
whose hope is in Adonai his God.
He made heaven and earth,
the sea and everything in them;
he keeps faith forever.

He secures justice for the oppressed,
he gives food to the hungry.
Adonai sets prisoners free,
Adonai opens the eyes of the blind,
Adonai lifts up those who are bent over.
Adonai loves the righteous.
Adonai watches over strangers,
he sustains the fatherless and widows;
but the way of the wicked he twists.

10 Adonai will reign forever,
your God, Tziyon, through all generations.

Halleluyah!

I am an analyzer. It’s what I do. It’s a gift and curse – just ask my daughters. It is possible I have spoiled a movie or two with my analyzing. Enough said about that … 🙂 Moving on to Church.

I think something is missing in Corporate Worship in all the churches I am familiar.  Can you guess what I think in particular it is?  The Reading Aloud of The Word; not as part of the sermon, but just for the sheer joy of hearing it read. But not by just any Reader but one who treasures the Word, one who is passionate about Scripture, one who flat-out enjoys saying the Words.  I really think it would bring people to a place of worship.

And if it is good for the Church House; it’s good for my house and your house. Try it. Pick up your favorite translation and take a walk down the hall, through the den and into the kitchen reading ABBA’s love letter to you.  I think you will like it.

If you have a few more minutes, visit Beth’s Blog and check out this Responsive Reading click HERE. I can tell you from experience, there’s nothing like it when you have 15,000 women together hearing from the Father.

Thank You, ABBA, for again allowing us to gather here. And I pray that someone will be encouraged and that a seed of intense love for Your Word will take root in many hearts. I pray the sheer joy of hearing Your Word read aloud will take hold and that we the people will hear Your Word being read all around. You have promised that Your Word will not return void but will accomplish Your Purpose when You send it forth so we rely upon Your promise and ask to be co-laborers with You speaking Your Word around this world.  And because of this world in which we live there is no doubt some Readers have come here with burdens; for themselves or for others and so I pray Your Attention and Intervention over them for peace of mind and calmness of soul and for healing of bodies and minds and families. And we are mindful of the unrest here in America and around the world. We say to You that we are weary of all things political  and we pray for Your Will to come. And in it all we proclaim You are good and we trust You to bring truth and justice to completion in JESUS name.

Perfect vs Persistent (again)

IDOK DEVOTION FOR MONDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2009

Perfect vs Persistent

We are not fully back to normal around here, whatever normal is. We have had days filled with love, laughter and lots of food and this morning it’s quiet, for a little while  anyway, unless you count the sound of the washing machine and distance traffic.   I like it! My beloved is safely to work and I am slowly getting started – no surprise to you since you don’t have an IDOK yet.

Let me share with you again today from my gift book: Jesus Lives by Sarah Young (published by Thomas Nelson ISBN-13:978-1-4041-8695-8), pages 214 and 215.

Assurance

BRING YOUR ATTENTION GENTLY BACK TO ME WHENEVER IT STARTS TO WANDER. Find relief in the truth that I look for persistence-rather than perfection-in your walk with Me.

Are you amazed at how quickly and how far your mind can wander from Me? When you recognized this has happened, don’t be shattered by disappointment or distracted by discouragement.  Instead, simply return your attention to Me and to the truth that I accept you in all your imperfection.

Not only do I accept you as you are, I love you as you are.  I died a criminal’s death so I could adorn you with My own perfection.  That’s why bringing your thoughts to Me is so important: It is My perfect righteousness that saves you, and it will never be taken away from you!

You can easily fall prey to self-rejection if you have unrealistic expectations for yourself.  When you fail, I want you to bring your focus back to Me gently, without judging yourself.  Instead of doing further harm by putting yourself down, persist in setting your sights on Me.  I always welcome you back with unfailing Love.

Hebrews 10:12-14  12 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God, 13 from that time waiting till His enemies are made His footstool. 14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

Luke 10:41-42  41 And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. 42 But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (source)

Psalm 36:7  7 How precious is Your lovingkindness, O God!
Therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings. (source)

And we thought picking on ourselves was a good thing, didn’t we?  No, not really – it’s just the easier thing to do.  This is an encouragement to me; I hope you don’t need it but just in case you ever do – remember DADDY GOD is not looking for us to be PERFECT yet just PERSISTENT in the right direction.

Thank You, ABBA, for these days we have enjoyed; thank You for the love and laughter we are now treasuring.  And thank You for the food we relished and thank You now for courage to ‘pay’ rather than ‘play’ in our consumptions.  Just a few more days and we will mark a new year and we are already thinking about promises we may make to ourselves; don’t let us do that again. Don’t let us make promises we cannot reasonably keep; don’t let us set ourselves up for that guilt; You’ve told us already that is not what You want for us.  Get us passed that mental trap of waiting until January 2 to begin or next week or tomorrow; help us begin today, doing just one thing we know would bless You, others and ourselves. Again, we pray for protection from all harm for our IDOK Troops, we pray for heart and mind peace for each of them in hostile places; we pray for Peace for Israel and to see them occupy the LAND You have given them; we pray for America, for space and grace to repent; we pray for each name written here with every need of spirit, soul and body and we ask You to grant relief from pain and healings and rescues as You will for Jesus Name Sake.  Amen and amen.
