Compost Pineapples

Well, it’s been Monday all day long! That’s catch up day from the weekend. And just so you will know — I’m not caught up.

I visited my compost bin today, most often for a long while now my beloved has been the one to take our contributions, but today I made the trek out back and you know what I found?

Life.

Life in a bin of decaying food scraps. Actually Jerry previously told me they were out there and today I went to see for myself. Not that I did not believe him, just wanted to see for myself, you know. And in truth there are four of them out there growing with no effort from us other than dumping into the bin the tops we whacked off four pineapples (at various times, not all at once) we brought home from our local food establishment.

Life in a dump. Who’d thought it? Goes to show if there’s a spark of life even in stinky surroundings something new can grow. That’ll preach don’t you think?

Isaiah 43:19 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
19 “Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.

Here are some pics. Three pictures are worth three thousand words. :)

So tell me, God doing something new in your life even amid some stinky stuff? Keep looking for those pineapples. You know the HOLY SPIRIT is all about producing fruit. :)

Time Passing

Sunday evening is winding down and I’m here for a quick hello I think. Another full weekend at the Thompson house – so blessed and grateful.

Can you believe it? September 26, 2011. More and more I am thinking about the passing of time and how precious and purposeful ABBA intends for our lives to be. What is that line? We’ve only one life, it soon will be past, only what’s done for Christ will last. Either I did not know or I’d forgotten whichever the case, this poem is new to me tonight. Please use this link – click HERE and take in C.T. Studd’s poem: Only What’s Done for Christ will last.

I think one of my favorite stanzas of the poem is this one:

Oh let my love with fervor burn, And from the world now let me turn;
Living for Thee, and Thee alone, Bringing Thee pleasure on Thy throne;
Only one life, “twill soon be past, Only what’s done for Christ will last.

See that line bringing Thee pleasure on Thy Throne? I like imagining myself doing that. Do you?

A verse to ponder today:

Micah 6:8 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
8 He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God?

People need us to be praying. Click HERE and see who. I am adding a name – Penni.

Wise Woman of Abel

Perhaps you will find the Wise Woman of Abel to be of interest. She is my Gal of Scripture for tonight (Thursday).

Read her story:

2 Samuel 20:14-22 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
14 Now he went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel, even Beth-maacah, and all the Berites; and they were gathered together and also went after him.
15 They came and besieged him in Abel Beth-maacah, and they cast up a siege ramp against the city, and it stood by the rampart; and all the people who were with Joab were wreaking destruction in order to topple the wall.
16 Then a wise woman called from the city, “Hear, hear! Please tell Joab, ‘Come here that I may speak with you.’”
17 So he approached her, and the woman said, “Are you Joab?” And he answered, “I am.” Then she said to him, “Listen to the words of your maidservant.” And he answered, “I am listening.”
18 Then she spoke, saying, “Formerly they used to say, ‘They will surely ask advice at Abel,’ and thus they ended the dispute.
19 I am of those who are peaceable and faithful in Israel. You are seeking to destroy a city, even a mother in Israel. Why would you swallow up the inheritance of the LORD?”

20 Joab replied, “Far be it, far be it from me that I should swallow up or destroy!
21 Such is not the case. But a man from the hill country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, has lifted up his hand against King David. Only hand him over, and I will depart from the city.” And the woman said to Joab, “Behold, his head will be thrown to you over the wall.”
22 Then the woman wisely came to all the people. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri and threw it to Joab. So he blew the trumpet, and they were dispersed from the city, each to his tent. Joab also returned to the king at Jerusalem.

So what’s the first thing you notice about the woman?  No name?  Yeah, me too. So this is what I think she has no name because you can be her. Any woman in Christ Jesus can be a woman of valor, a woman of courage, a woman of wisdom, a woman who does a whole lot of good for her community, for her world. But I said most all that on September 20, 2011 post didn’t I? Check me out HERE.

Much later.

And I am back from my class.  The HOLY SPIRIT so loves us women! He gave us such a good time. I am certain you guys have experienced the same in Bible Study as He loves you all too. :)

We decided in class tonight, with or without a name, we want to look up this Women of Abel when we get to Heaven and spend some time getting to know her better. We determined that she is a women of courage as well as wisdom.

And we decided in these New Testament times any walls upon which we will stand and roll heads will surely be spiritual in nature rather than physical as our Gal of Study’s situation tonight.

Ephesians 6:12 New King James Version (NKJV)
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
via Ephesians 6:12 NKJV – For we do not wrestle against flesh and – Bible Gateway.

So tell me Wise Woman of _______________, got something rebellious hiding out in your ‘city’ that needs its head to roll?  Yes? Then set your heart to know The Holy Scriptures, sharpen your Sword, climb up on that wall and start wielding It. (You too, Guys.)

Pray for Dear Ones depending on you.
