Ignorance is not Bliss

I think I shall be quick today.

Good Wednesday morning to you.

1 Corinthians 12 begins with the Apostle Paul penning for The LORD that He (and Paul) does not want the people of Corinth (or you and me) to go on being ignorant.

How would we today like a sermon to start off that way?
Some of us would be okay with that as we do not want to be ignorant of The LORD’s Ways.

Verse 2.
You know that when you were pagans, no matter how you felt you were being led, you were being led astray to idols, which can’t speak at all.  source

When we and they were pagans, before we received The LORD’s Salvation, no matter how we felt about it, we were being led away, astray from GOD to idols

If we are not being led by GOD, we are being led AWAY from Him.
It’s as simple as that  — and we don’t need to go on being ignorant of that.

The Chair

Have you ever read Hebrews 11 substituting the word Faith for Trust?
I encourage you to do that today.

Hebrews 11.
Here are a few verses to get you started.
The Complete Jewish Bible does it for you.
Look and see.

1 Trusting is being confident of what we hope for, convinced about things we do not see.
It was for this that Scripture attested the merit of the people of old.
By trusting, we understand that the universe was created through a spoken word of God, so that what is seen did not come into being out of existing phenomena.  source

By trusting, Hanokh [Enoch] was taken away from this life without seeing death — “He was not to be found, because God took him away” — for he has been attested as having been, prior to being taken away, well pleasing to God.
And without trusting, it is impossible to be well pleasing to God, because whoever approaches him must trust that he does exist and that he becomes a Rewarder to those who seek him out. source

Is it just me or does the word Trust seem to more adequately describe what it takes for us to be well-pleasing to GOD?

I can have faith that a chair will hold up under my weight but until I actually SIT in the chair I have not demonstrated my faith – I have not TRUSTED the chair.

Many people believe (have faith) that there is GOD but is that enough to get them to heaven?
No.
Faith must mature into Trust.
We must TRUST that JESUS life, death, and resurrection are sufficient – that HE is well-pleasing to the Father and so are we when we TRUST His Sacrifice for us.

When we TRUST we take our SEAT; we sit in the chair of faith that JESUS is enough to save ME.

Warm, Happy Difference

For me it is more than cool, it’s cold this morning.
Cold enough that I’d just as soon stay in my flannel pj’s, curl up in the library, and cozy the day away… Or just a few minutes. ☺️

There’s so much wrong in this world it’s easy to lose grasp of what is Holy.
Just in my circle of people, the colossal trauma is biting, wounding, and mind aching.
Fatal disease, death, flesh screaming relationships wounding and lacerating souls, young and not so young, mixed and stirred together with the agendas of the Elite wicked ones.

Blessed indeed are the Saints of GOD who have finished their mission and have been awarded Home. Psalm 116:15
And yet we left behind so humanly grieve.

And then I look up and out – a Cardinal is feeding with tiny and delicate friends.
Streaks of light rays fall here and there on grass still green.
Baby Girl’s gifted spinner is gently reminding me I am loved. The Word of GOD, both printed and displayed is ours to lavish.
And The Great Commission stands.

Let us rejoice. Psalm 118:24

Ahhh — just a little ceramic heater makes such a warm, happy difference.

Shall We?

Luke 24.
Perhaps you will read it today.

Particularly verses 44 through 49.

44 Yeshua said to them, “This is what I meant when I was still with you and told you that everything written about me in the Torah of Moshe, the Prophets and the Psalms had to be fulfilled.”
45 Then he opened their minds, so that they could understand the Tanakh,
46 telling them, “Here is what it says: the Messiah is to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day;
47 and in his name repentance leading to forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed to people from all nations, starting with Yerushalayim.
48 You are witnesses of these things.
49 Now I am sending forth upon you what my Father promised, so stay here in the city until you have been equipped with power from above.”  source

Then He opened their minds, so that they could understand the Tanakh.
Some Texts read so that they could understand the Scriptures.

The Tanakh is Scripture.

Of all the things to which we need our minds opened is Scripture, so we can understand.
Yeshua did this for His Disciples and The Comforter, The Teacher He sent – Holy Spirit – still does this today for us, who are His Disciples.
Aren’t you glad?

One more thing. Don’t miss this: repentance leading to forgiveness of sins is to be proclaimed to people from all nations.

People NEED repentance leading to forgiveness of sins – but how will they hear, if we do not tell them?
Shall we?
