Isaiah 50

This chapter is too full for me to fully know today but may I share with you what I see thus far?

This passage so brings JESUS to mind.
It reads like Him.
It describes Him.
It describes perhaps 730 years before He came to earth what He would endure on our behalf.

Look at verse 4 with me, please.

Adonai Elohim has given me the ability to speak as a man well taught, so that I, with my words, know how to sustain the weary.
Each morning he awakens my ear to hear like those who are taught. source

And what did JESUS say in  Matthew 11:28?
Who else but He could say this:
28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.  source

Do you remember what the counsel said about Peter and John?

Hebrews 4: 15 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.
source – New American Standard Bible 1995

Verse 6 tells of one who offered his back; who was insulted and spit upon.
Again. JESUS.

Matthew 26:67 and John 19:1 –  Read HERE.

Verse 7 tells us He said no insult would wound him.
Now we know that must be JESUS.
Read with me my confirming New Testament verse.

Luke 9:51 And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,  (KJV)

We need the Old Testament and the New Testament if we want a full picture of JESUS.
And fortunately, we have access to both.
We have paper and ink copies; we have internet access to multiple translations; we even have access to Scripture on our phones.
We have access. We have no excuse.

Table Round

Friday.
I was about to type good morning but it’s beyond morning now!
Good afternoon this fine day of Friday from LA.

Friends. Sisters (or Brothers) by JESUS.
If you have friends who are family by JESUS who you can talk with for hours and pray with for hours too, you are blessed and highly favored.

As the days grow darker give attention to your family and your friends. Make time for them.

Let me sketch for you an experience that I covet for the Body of CHRIST.
A group (3, 4, 6 or so) seated at a table round or tucked feet in comfy chairs or temples scattered near on a pillowed floor — sharing, talking, laughing, crying as the need may be.
Then with opened Bibles in every pair of hands, READING.
One reading aloud, the others watching each word, and as Holy Spirit prompts insights, questions, answers are spoken all around.
Each expressing, learning, teaching, and basking in GOD our Savior.

It’s the sweetest family communion on earth.
I want this for the CHURCH.
It’s the sure way to maturing in Trust and learning JESUS and His ways.

Again, I urge you to read the Scripture – at least a chapter a day. And if you can find a sister (or brothers, find a brother) to read with you, do it.
Read and share with each other what Holy Spirit reveals to you as you read GOD’s WORD.
It works via phone, email, text, and face-to-face at that table round.

You need this my Friends. You need it more than you know you need it.
I’m not kidding.

11 And the people of Berea were more open-minded than those in Thessalonica, and they listened eagerly to Paul’s message. They searched the Scriptures day after day to see if Paul and Silas were teaching the truth.
12 As a result, many Jews believed, as did many of the prominent Greek women and men.  source Acts 17

Not Just a Writing Prompt

Windows and sunshine.

I’m not kidding.
This very sight is one of the things for which I give thanks – often.
Not just today as a writing prompt. Even though it is.

How lavishly fortunate we are to have a place, a roof over our heads with walls and windows in all our rooms to let in that glorious light from the sun that warms and comforts us, that helps grow our foods, that gives us much needed Vitamin D to ward off diseases.

Today, we live in a place of extravagance, and yet with all our extravagance without sun, moon, air, and water – we soon would not be at all.

Could we today give thanks for the common things; things that we have closed our eyes to; things that we only miss when they are gone?

So. For what are YOU giving thanks today?

Just in case you are interested 48 times in the KJV we find give thanks referenced.
Here are a few and a link for the rest.
