Everything!

I’ve been reading some encouraging words on this cold Lower Alabama morning. May I share?

From JESUS CALLING by Sarah Young:

“Remember that I can fit everything into a pattern for good, including the things you wish were different.”

Everything? Even that mess that’s been hanging around for — well, years?

Yes. Everything.

Renewed hope. Renewed strength. And sweet peace. Thank You!

Thank You, ABBA, for encouraging words. Thank You for the strength and power and courage along with those words to make them alive in us. Thank You.

12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

via Hebrews 4:11-13 KJV;CJB – Let us labour therefore to enter into – Bible Gateway.

4 For whatsoever things were written in times past, were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

via Romans 15:3-5 KJ21;CJB – For even Christ pleased not Himself, – Bible Gateway.

Our 41st day of 2014, what shall we do with it?

Open Mouth

Thinking about words lately.

29 Let no harmful language come from your mouth, only good words that are helpful in meeting the need, words that will benefit those who hear them.

via Ephesians 4:28-30 KJV;CJB – Let him that stole steal no more: but – Bible Gateway.

10 Out of the same mouth come blessing and cursing! Brothers, it isn’t right for things to be this way. 11 A spring doesn’t send both fresh and bitter water from the same opening, does it?

via James 3 KJV;CJB – My brethren, be not many masters, – Bible Gateway.

3 Set a guard, Adonai, over my mouth; keep watch at the door of my lips.

via Ps 141 KJV;CJB – Lord, I cry unto thee: make haste unto – Bible Gateway.

10 I am the Lord your God, Who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.

via Psalm 81:9-11 AMP;CJB – There shall no strange god be among – Bible Gateway.

8 Let my mouth be filled with thy praise and with thy honour all the day.

via Psalm 71:7-9 KJV;CJB – I am as a wonder unto many; but thou – Bible Gateway.

Enough said. :)

Thank You, ABBA, for these instructions. Thank You for Your patience and Your unfailing guidance to teach us Your way. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable to You today.

13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, and my redeemer.

via Psalm 19 KJV;CJB – The heavens declare the glory of God; – Bible Gateway.

May our words be kind and true this 38th day of 2014,

Kathie

Sheep and Wolves

Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

via Matthew 10:15-17 KJV;CJB – Verily I say unto you, It shall be more – Bible Gateway.

Let us diligently pray and seek to be as this verse commands. Let us weigh our words carefully. Let us frame our responses to encourage, yet without feigned flattery; let us answer valid questions with Scripture, either by actual quote or demonstrated life. After all, what does it matter what we think about any given social controversy? What matters is what has GOD said!

Yesterday Joni Eareckson Tada gave a statement regarding the rescinding of an Oscar Nomination for the song, Alone Yet Not Alone, written by music writer Bruce Broughton and lyricist Dennis Spiegel.  Joni was wise and harmless. Here is her statement:

joniJoni at the microphone“While I can only imagine the disappointment of music writer Bruce Broughton and lyricist Dennis Spiegel in the rescinding of their Oscar nomination, it in no way detracts from either the song’s beauty or its message. I was humbled and honored to have been asked to sing it for the film, and was as surprised as anyone when I learned of the song’s nomination. I was grateful for the attention the nomination brought to this worthy song and the inspirational film behind it, as well as to the ongoing work of Joni and Friends to people affected by disabilities. The decision by the Academy to rescind the nomination may well bring even further attention, and I only hope it helps to further extend the message and impact of the song. Regarding the reasons for the nomination being rescinded, it is not my place to speculate as I have no insights into the workings of the entertainment industry. I was honored to be invited to sing the song and it will always be a treasured experience.”

Now for the song.

Let us be wise and harmless on this 31st day of 2014,

Kathie

ABBA, we ask for teachable spirits; teachable that we may learn to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves; teachable that we may go forth in this world and do some good for JESUS name sake.

Home-bound

It looks like snow but it’s not. It’s accumulated sleet. But we have enjoyed the results of it. Home-bound! It’s been fun.

front yard sleetHowever, in our fun, we have remembered it has not been fun for those who could not get home. But as is often the case when trouble comes, people come to help. Like Chick-fil-a in Birmingham, Alabama. Click HERE and read.

But I began this post to talk about snow. And then I remembered snow – Scripture.

Isaiah 1:18 “Come now,” says Adonai, “let’s talk this over together. Even if your sins are like scarlet, they will be white as snow; even if they are red as crimson, they will be like wool.
via Isaiah 1:17-19 KJV;CJB – Learn to do well; seek judgment, – Bible Gateway.

What an invitation! Come now, not tomorrow, but now, today, don’t wait, come says ABBA, and let’s talk this over together. Whatever it is; however, it may look; however, ‘frozen’ it is, come and talk it over with Me, says ABBA.

The sleet that has covered our ground is deceptive to the eye – it looks like snow. It looks like something to scoop up, roll into a ball and have some fun. Things are not always as they seem to us; but ABBA knows and He is willing to listen, willing to make things right with us and for us. As I said, it is quite an invitation! So take Him up on it – whatever it is talk it over with Him on this 30th day of 2014.

Kathie

ABBA, thank You. Thank You that You have taken our sins away and made us white as snow. Thank You for calling to us and giving us such a grand and beyond description invitation to talk all things over with You. I pray that each of us will take You up on this glorious offer; let us not even think about turning You down – how foolish and hurtful to us that would be. Thank You for the good works that have been done during this ice storm; thank You for the safety even in hardship that You have given. Comfort and strengthen Your People and help us comfort and strengthen others with the comfort and strength You have given us in Your Son, our Savior Yeshua.

I’d be honored to pray personally with you; just sent me an email or leave a comment. Remember though, comments are public, don’t reveal private matters in the comment section.
