I am grateful for space heaters that give you just enough heat on a crisp morning when it’s too early in the year to turn on the heat pump.  There is a rule written about that somewhere for lower Alabama, right? :)

And speaking of seasons.

In this ‘season’ of this 21st Century in which we live it is time for us to ‘turn up the heat’. To be space heaters in our own little corner of the world. to give people the warmth of JESUS’ love and yes the knowledge that there is a ‘great heat’ coming for all who refuse to live holy.

I might as well be up front with you.

I don’t like Halloween.
Actually I hate Halloween as it is traditionally celebrated with tricks and witches and the like. In the circles I travel we try to put another spin on it and hopefully give an alternative that is fun and perhaps even redemptive.  LORD willing that is what I will be doing tonight.

So my Journey devotional this morning was fitting and I’d like to share a thought from it with you. Let me just quote a bit of it.

“Satan fights mightily to weaken marriages, discourage believers, distract ministers, tear apart churches and destroy testimonies.”

Any of that cover any of us?
Any of us married?
Any of us a believer in JESUS CHRIST?
Any of us have a pastor?
Any of us a member of a local church?
Any of us have a personal testimony that we walk with God?

Yes, on any point?

Then Journey‘s question this morning is for you (and me).

“Are you aware of the spiritual battles going on in your home, in your church? Prayer and truth are our primary weapons in spiritual warfare. Are you using them?”

And actually I am late this morning in my ‘war efforts’ so I’m gonna move from here to there. Please you all be praying too. Click HERE for names.

A E I O U and sometimes Y — is that right?

I was reminded this morning as my hubby was reading one of his morning devotionals to me that where we position a vowel in a word changes more than just the word.

Got.

I got to go to work.
I got to iron clothes.
I got to mop the floor.

Change that o to an e and see what happens.

I GET to go to work today. That comes from the mouth of one whose heart is grateful to have a means of gainful employment to provide for her/his family.

I GET to iron clothes. Can only be spoken by one who appreciates such things as this:  I have an iron. I have a roof over my head wherein that iron is housed. Moreover I have clothes to wear – clean clothes even, or they would not need pressing.

I GET to mop the floor. Again. I have a floor. I have eyes that can see the need to clean. I have arms and legs that can actually perform the task.

See what I mean?
You try it.
What do you GOT to do that you really are blessed to GET to do?
