Occupied

I have been rather lax this week with writing – why?
Occupied I suppose — I am anticipating more occupation mid-week next week too.
But that does not mean you all are not on my mind — I have a blanket request for you all in my daily prayer journal.

I read 2 Thessalonians 2 today and made many notes in my notebook. I also had questions. Imagine that, huh?

I am not prepared to share it all, but I am inclined to share a comforting thought.

The people of Thessalonica were alarmed; some folks had told them YESHUA had already returned.
We’d be alarmed too, would we not at such a message?
So Paul set about to set their minds at ease.

I don’t have all the answers and I have more questions.
There are matters of eschatology that are beyond my learning at this time and that had been concerning me.
But today, coupled with a prayer a dear sister prayed with me this week, I have this direction:

Don’t be afraid. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, don’t be afraid to think outside of that traditional box; don’t be afraid to explore for the TRUTH.
And as you do: Trust Father to protect.
Trust Holy Spirit to teach.
Trust JESUS to return.

And in the meantime occupy!
Let us occupy ourselves with listening, obeying, loving, and going about our lives doing good.

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.

Amen and amen – make it so of us too, Father.

No Fooling!

Good Morning or evening as the case may be; I have a portion of Scripture for you to read.
It’s instructive.
It’s penned by Paul to the people of Philippi, yet not just any people of Philippi but brothers and sisters he so dearly loved.
Brothers and sisters that he confidently saw the LORD working in them and he encouraged them to continue so and to be assured that The LORD would continue to work in them until the Day of the LORD’s return for them. (verse 6 of Philippians 1)

I hope you will read all of it but if you are rushing to get on with tasks clamoring for your attention — give yourself to these few.

27 Above all, you must live as citizens of heaven, conducting yourselves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Then, whether I come and see you again or only hear about you, I will know that you are standing together with one spirit and one purpose, fighting together for the faith, which is the Good News.
28 Don’t be intimidated in any way by your enemies. This will be a sign to them that they are going to be destroyed, but that you are going to be saved, even by God himself.
29 For you have been given not only the privilege of trusting in Christ but also the privilege of suffering for him.
30 We are in this struggle together. You have seen my struggle in the past, and you know that I am still in the midst of it.

Straight

Hosea 14: (9) Let the wise understand these things, and let the discerning know them.
For the ways of Adonai are straight, And the righteous walk in them, but in them sinners stumble.

For the ways of THE LORD are straight.

There is nothing crooked, deceptive, sneaky, evil, wrong – nothing unfaithful about THE LORD.
And it is these very STRAIGHT ways of GOD – why we walk in righteousness with Him.

But sinners?
Check the verse again and see what happens to them.

Please tell me this saddens your heart; that it pains you to see sinners stumble over the very ways of GOD that give us a firm, solid, sturdy, steady, protected, secure path to walk in, as they reject HIM now and without repentance, — forever.

I am urging us to faithfully walk with ADONAI.

Gutsy?

1 Kings 18

I love, love, love the boldness of Elijah in this chapter 18!

Let me share why with you.
Ahab is king and a bad king he is. In my humble opinion mean and scared as a snake.
But nonetheless king  – with all the powers of the office.
And he’s shall we say so upset with Elijah that he wants him dead — graveyard dead.

Elijah knows this.
Does that stop him from confronting Ahab?
Nope.

Read with me.

15 Elijah said, “As the Lord of hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely show myself to him today.”
16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him; and Ahab went to meet Elijah.
17 When Ahab saw Elijah, Ahab said to him, “Is this you, you troubler of Israel?”

18 He said, “I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father’s house have, because you have forsaken the commandments of the Lord and you have followed the Baals.
19 Now then send and gather to me all Israel at Mount Carmel, together with 450 prophets of Baal and 400 prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”

Pretty gutsy, don’t you think?
I’d like to be that gutsy!

But I am also mindful gutsy can fail.
Gutsy can get full of gutsy and crumble.
The Bible puts it take heed lest you fall — I think.
Let me look that up.
1 Corinthians 10:12

Perhaps you will use the link and read the verse in context.

GOD responded to Elijah.
Do you know the story?
Elijah vs the prophets of Baal.
I hope you will read the Chapter — GOD was faithful!

GOD also brings rain by the chapter’s end too.

If you read on into Chapter 19, Elijah keeps saying he’s the only prophet left.
His gutsy didn’t last.
And by the way, he was not the only Prophet left.
1 Kings 19:18 tells how many others had not bowed the knee to Baal.

Take heed lest we fall.
We are not alone.
GOD always has a People.
Let us pray for one another and seek each other out as the days grow darker — amen?
