Black and White

Love necessitated that I put myself in the truck early this morning; whenever I drive, Christian music sings. And this morning I found myself smiling. I heard “when the sun won’t shine and you don’t know why – speak life”

That is fine theology!

Ephesians 4:29 Let no harmful language come from your mouth, only good words that are helpful in meeting the need, words that will benefit those who hear them. via Ephesians 4:28-30 CJB – The thief must stop stealing; instead, – Bible Gateway.

Deuteronomy 30:19 . . . I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:  via Deuteronomy 30:18-20 KJV;CJB – I denounce unto you this day, that ye – Bible Gateway.

Here’s the song. Sing along and smile.

Made to Bear

What are my shoulders made to bear? What are your shoulders made to bear?

Bench pressing comes to mind. So some shoulders can bear more weight than others – the gym kind I mean.

But what of those burdens not seen with the eye? The kind that draw on our souls. How much poundage of that kind can we bear?

How much burden is my frame engineered to withstand? Am I shouldering burdens beyond the Designer’s blueprint? Are you? Do we often push our muscles beyond a healthy burn? Is there an instruction manual? And if so, what does it command?

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
via Matthew 11:28-30 KJV;CJB – Come unto me, all ye that labour and – Bible Gateway.

My shoulders. Your shoulders are designed for a yoke. A specific yoke. HIS yoke. And what does He say? My yoke is easy and my burden is light. But I’m worn out, I’m stressed to the max, I’m ready to scream, I can’t take any more!

When life is crushing the life out of me, it means one thing: I’ve slipped the yoke.

But there’s good news — we can return. We can return to the yoke and feel the relief.

Luke 12:27 Think about the wild irises, and how they grow. They neither work nor spin thread; yet, I tell you, not even Shlomo in all his glory was clothed as beautifully as one of these. 28 If this is how God clothes grass, which is alive in the field today and thrown in the oven tomorrow, how much more will he clothe you! What little trust you have!

Second Chance

I did wrong yesterday.

Ephesians 4

29 Let no harmful language come from your mouth, only good words that are helpful in meeting the need, words that will benefit those who hear them. 30 Don’t cause grief to God’s Ruach HaKodesh, for he has stamped you as his property until the day of final redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, violent assertiveness and slander, along with all spitefulness. 32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted; and forgive each other, just as in the Messiah God has also forgiven you.
via Ep 4 KJV;CJB – I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, – Bible Gateway.

Does the passage give you a hint? It is more than a hint to me.

Conversation.

I was not careful. I spoke what I did not KNOW. I even said I don’t know but it might be that they are doing ___ and planning _____. Even so it certainly did not fit the instructions above.

Today I am contrite about it. Today I am purposing to remember this passage. It is the passage the HOLY SPIRIT brought to mind as I thought about yesterday’s conversation – what is worst He checked me yesterday before the words came from my lips. Obviously, I did not obey that Still Small Voice.  I am now reminded of another phrase from His Word – ‘these things ought not to be so’ (James 3:10).

I can only say thank You, ABBA. Thank You for correcting me. Thank You for loving me. Thank You for forgiving me. And Thank You for still another second chance. I love you, ABBA, in YESHUA’s Mighty name.

The sun has climbed above the trees in our backyard and so this little girl is about to seek the comforts of air conditioning. :)

Signing off for now but not without some joyful gratitude.

Oh one more thing — Have a safe, happy, holy Independence Day celebration tomorrow. Give our Father thanks for this Nation. She is not what she used to be and perhaps she is not what she will yet be, especially if we can pray the Supreme Court to making more good rulings as they have done recently. PRAY! There is hope in JESUS name.
