Translates

It’s Monday and the first of the month.
August — already!

We have a brand new month —  what will we do with it?

2 Kings 5

Verse  11 But Na‘aman became angry and left, saying, “Here now! I thought for certain that he would come out personally, that he would stand, call on the name of Adonai his God and wave his hand over the diseased place and thus heal the person with tzara‘at.      source

I thought for certain

Translates:   he had made up his mind. He had it all worked out. He had played the scenario over and over in his mind about how this would go.

It didn’t.

Verse 12 Aren’t Amanah and Parpar, the rivers of Dammesek, better than all the water in Isra’el? Why can’t I bathe in them and be clean?” So he turned and went off in a rage.       source

Why can’t I bathe in them

Translates: Why, GOD? Why won’t You do it my way?  I had this all figured out. Why are You messing with my plan?

So he turned and went off in a rage.

Unclean and unhealed.  Rage gets us NOWHERE with GOD.

Verse 13 But his servants approached him and said, “My father! If the prophet had asked you to do something really difficult, wouldn’t you have done it? So, doesn’t it make even more sense to do what he says, when it’s only, ‘Bathe, and be clean’?”    source

But his servants approached him

Translates – and there we have it.
It takes a Servant to hear; not the soul in a rage, seeking their own way but a person with a Servant Heart willing to hear AND obey GOD.

So, want to get rid of your leprosy? Translated — the sin that so easily beset us?
Hear and Obey GOD — no matter how foolish-looking, humbling, and distasteful it is to our flesh.

Go dip in the Jordan 7 times.
Do you have a Jordan, GOD has asked you to dip in — 7 times.
I’m questioning that for myself too.

There’s a lot more in 2 Kings 5.
I hope you will read it.

Love, Kathie

Broken Record

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I am here.

Here again to encourage you, to ask you to please READ Scripture daily.
To read not just a verse or two out of context but instead to read at least a chapter a day. Please.
I mean pick a book of the Bible – a book of your choosing- perhaps not Revelation if you are not well acquainted with Scripture.
Any one of the Gospels perhaps and daily read a chapter. Daily ask Father GOD to reveal what He has said and what He is saying to you.

As the days we are living grow darker and sin increases and love grows colder (Matthew 24:12), Scripture is our lifeline.
Scripture will encourage us, enlighten, strengthen, embolden, and preserve us — pray to love the Word as your bread because if you are a child of GOD, it is your bread!
It is your food to nurture and sustain you.
Let us dare not ignore the Holy Scriptures that are able to deliver us!

Starving!

One statement, well there have been many statements in this book that have held my attention; but, this one today from the book Un-Saved Christian, The Cost of Disobedience by Rebecca Ruth, well, let me tell you:
“Without His Word, you will fall away.”.

I think she is right. I was going to say more than right but that’s a bit much, isn’t it?
How can one be more than right?

Without His Word, you will fall away.

Without DAILY intake of Scripture, we will fall away from following JESUS.
It will happen — so, let’s just don’t let it happen!

Perhaps on the first day, we miss reading, we will not notice a waning of fellowship but within a short time the world will wear on us and we will respond in kind.

So let us just head off the flesh, the world, and the devil, at the pass and read Scripture daily.

One of the many things for which I pray is that I may be enabled to connect more People with more Scripture.
Scripture is our food.
It’s our bread, milk, and meat; and without it, we will starve off the Vine.  John 15:1-8
