New Every Morning

It’s Sunday evening, the sun has set, and darkness has fallen all around.

Was it a good day for you?
Did you worship?
Did you pray? Did you sing?
Did you help someone move a little closer to loving JESUS?

Well, tomorrow is another day . . . and if we see the light of day, let us seek the LORD early, let us begin again, and walk a little closer in our following JESUS than we did today.

Lamentations 3: 22 Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail.

23 They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!

24 “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.”

25 The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.

26 It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD.   SOURCE

Churched People

1Well, y’all the last midnight of 2022 is 30 hours away (at this typing).

Thirty hours and a New Year begins.
We make a big deal of it — don’t we?

I actually like New Year’s.
Other than Thanksgiving, it’s my favorite holiday.
I like fresh starts.
I like new canvases.

There’s even something special to me about starting a new journal  – that very first page.
What shall I write?

What shall we write on the page (canvas) of our very first day of 2023?
We have some plans — do you?

How many of you remember back in the 1990s Churched People used to gather for fellowship on New Year’s Eve?
We would eat fun foods, play games, laugh, and talk until about 11:00 ish and then we’d head to the Auditorium or Sanctuary if you prefer; we’d kneel around the altar and we would pray in the New Year. prayer

Are any of y’all gathering together to do that this New Year’s Eve?
Let me hear from you.

I gotta get up from here — time to prepare supper.

Or perhaps Good morning, my Friends.

This is the day The LORD has made and we will be glad and rejoice in it. Psalm 118:24

Even though most of this Tuesday is far spent.

Was it a productive day?
Can we in good conscience say it was a day well-pleasing to The LORD; this is an important question, don’t you think?

Now for some good news.
To each of us who will/have awakened to a new Wednesday — there is a fresh supply of Father’s mercies.

Perhaps just that thought will make our sleep peaceful tonight.

The Last of 2021

Two Thousand Twenty-One.
How did it go so quickly I might ask. Another might say I thought it would never be over.

Yes, we are just hours away from the chiming in of 2022. Would you be offended if I wonder why we make such a big deal of it?
Today is December 31, 2021.
At midnight it will be January 1, 2022.
Is it really more than that?

I remember the turning from December 31, 1999, to January 1, 2000 — we wondered if our banking, utilities, etc. would cease to compute and we would be in mass chaos at the stroke of midnight for the foreseeable future.
But the dawn came, the sun soon beamed and the birds sang.
I expect it will be just so come the morning.

Is the turning of a year any more than that – just another day?
Is it really more than that?
If we make it so — it is.

If we embrace the New Day of the New Year as a New Beginning, renewal is more than possible, it’s likely.
I am reminded of Scripture. That
all things are possible with GOD; that His mercies are new every morning. That applies to in the morning for all who awaken to the morning’s light.
We get to choose GOD or not.

Let us choose wisely.
The unfolding of our year, our families and our emotional well-being in large portion depends on our choices.

I borrowed this picture from a Friend’s Facebook Page and offer it here with minor edits.
It’s not profound but I liked the play-on-of-words as we
take off into this new year. :)
