On Call

flowersFromMyGirlsI think I shall be quick this morning — I am subject to call to the den at any moment. :)

Luke 15

and the P’rushim and Torah-teachers kept grumbling.  source

And the Pharisees and the Scribes kept grumbling.

But the people kept gathering to YESHUA. Check out verse 1

But the Pharisees and Scribes –  Grumblers.
What a nasty habit!
Grumbling I mean.
It is no profit for anyone. It helps no situation other than helping others see the condition of our hearts.
You see habitual grumblers are not thankful people – not praisers of GOD.

BUT IF we KEEP GATHERING to JESUS we will be Praisers and not Grumblers.

And then there is verse 7.

I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who turns to God from his sins than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need to repent.  Source

The preaching of repentance (turn or burn) was/is the message of JESUS.

We need NOT forget it or refrain from speaking it — especially as the End is coming closer and closer.

But before I close this morning allow me to chat a little further with you concerning verse 7.
Why did JESUS say what He said there? We know from other passages of Scripture that there is not one of us righteous; that ALL of us must repent to see GOD.  (see Romans 3:10-11)
So, what did He mean?

Here’s what I think: The Pharisees and Scribes who heard His parable considered themselves to be righteous; they considered themselves in no need of repentance. How foolish they were!  No rejoicing in Heaven over them. So very sad!

It’s Thursday here!

Pick a Seat

How do you pick your seat at a general admission event?

Luke 14

I ask because YESHUA had something to say about it.
Do you want to know what He said?

When Yeshua noticed how the guests were choosing for themselves the best seats at the table, he told them this parable:
“When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, don’t sit down in the best seat; because if there is someone more important than you who has been invited,
the person who invited both of you might come and say to you, ‘Give this man your place.’ Then you will be humiliated as you go to take the least important place.
10 Instead, when you are invited, go and sit in the least important place; so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you, ‘Go on up to a better seat.’ Then you will be honored in front of everyone sitting with you.
11 Because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.”

How do you read that?
What do you think He was saying to them?
And is there any reason He would say differently to us?

Humility.7ba74bde296b5f843bf45817b62843a4--be-humble-peter-otoole

It’s an important matter.
And if we refuse to humble ourselves — He knows how to do it!

I looked for the specific verse of Scripture to state it just the way I thought it was written and I discovered it’s the Whole Counsel of GOD that would communicate that to us. One of those verses would be this one.e11e3ed73d495dcbd5ab3edbdbcc153d

Adonai sustains the humble
but brings the wicked down to the ground.  Source Psalm 147

Does that say what I think it says?

Wicked is the opposite of humble?

A World of People

This is what I see.

I see a world of people busy doing nothing that amounts to anything for the Kingdom of GOD or their own or their children’s eternal life benefit.

I see people racing around, snapping and yelling at each other; too busy for even a kind word.

I see people so wrapped around themselves that there is rarely a thought outside the parameters of ‘and how does this affect me?’

I see people lost as hell with no concern and no interest in getting off that broad road to destruction.

And then I see people with a form of godliness, a pretense that they know Him but there is no evidence in their day-to-day activity that indicates the Power of GOD to overcome even a bad attitude.

I see a world of people in darkness pretending to be celebrating all this month the birth of The LIGHT of The World, yet they have no concept of Him, no love for Him, and no obedience to Him.

This is the world we live in — utter darkness with very few lampstands trimmed and ready.
BUT PRAISE GOD for those that are!!

It’s hard seeing this day after day, BUT GOD still saves even one that will open their eyes and bow their will to THE GOD who is willing and able to forgive them and deliver them from this utter darkness.

Woodshed

I have a question for us.
Are we afraid because we think we don’t matter?
Questioning our value to GOD?

Why the question?

Luke 12

Specifically verses 4-7.

Here I’ll paste them to the page for you.

“My friends, I tell you: don’t fear those who kill the body but then have nothing more they can do. I will show you whom to fear: fear him who after killing you has authority to throw you into Gei-Hinnom! Yes, I tell you, this is the one to fear! Aren’t sparrows sold for next to nothing, five for two assarions? And not one of them has been forgotten by God. Why, every hair on your head has been counted! Don’t be afraid, you are worth more than many sparrows.  source

Do you see? Verse 7. Read it till you believe it.

And while we are on the subject, let’s look at who we should and should not be afraid.

I mean for real, who are we afraid of?
(Forgive me just had to leave that preposition at the end.)

I mean when we are threatened by someone, wouldn’t it be the BEST! to be so secure in JESUS that we with firm authority say,
“What’s the worse thing you can do to me?
Kill me?
Then I am with JESUS! Give it your best shot!”

What did JESUS say in this passage?
For Real Christians what is the worse thing another human person can do to us?
Be the vehicle of exit from this cruel, hostile world?

(Albeit, even I can admit that beatings, tortures, etc. are not what I want but I understand from the testimonies of  Saints that JESUS gives unspeakable help and comfort during such sufferings.)

So who do people need to be afraid of?
This is not spoken on the street or preached in the pulpit, but I am saying it.

Any person who has not repented, believed and received in exchange for their sins the RIGHTEOUSNESS of JESUS — oh they need to be afraid.
Very afraid of none other than GOD, HIMSELF.

We are taught in this culture that GOD is all love and there is no reason to be afraid of Him.

Rubbish from hell!

Read it again.

I will show you whom to fear: fear him who after killing you has authority to throw you into Gei-Hinnom! Yes, I tell you, this is the one to fear!

And please please do not miss that word AUTHORITY.  And please do not miss there is only ONE to fear.
HE has the authority, and the right, it is JUST for Him to cast every unbeliever into the hell they have chosen.

This is Who we should be afraid of!
And even as His children, bought and cleansed by The BLOOD of His Only Begotten Son, we better still be afraid of disobeying Him!
He chastens those He loves when they disobey — by the way, so does any godly daddy.

So, we really need to work at staying out of the woodshed.
Not just because it hurts but because HE IS WORTHY of our obedience and love.

He chastens those that are His. Hebrews 12:6-11

That’s it for now.pioneer-woodshed-sheri-mcleroy

We are glad you are here; stay a while, look around, and be encouraged. We estimate there to be over 3,000 posts here at The White Stone Blog. Please know my hope is ALWAYS to help and NEVER harm. I have voiced many opinions and thoughts here since 2007 and by now I MAY NOT EVEN AGREE with all of them and some of my grammar and punctuation likely needs editing. But this is changeless: JESUS is our ONLY Savior and Hope. Do you KNOW Him?
