What Do You Think?

Nehemiah 9
Those of Israelite descent separated themselves from all foreigners as they confessed their own sins and the sins of their ancestors. They remained standing in place for three hours while the Book of the Law of the Lord their God was read aloud to them. Then for three more hours they confessed their sins and worshiped the Lord their God.   source

What if in this coronavirus crisis we did this? We are social distancing already. What if we allowed ourselves to be drawn to GOD while we are separated from one another? What if we asked The Holy Spirit to show us our sins and when He does, confess them and turn away from them? What if we prayed for We the People to confess and repent?
Verse. 3. Look what else they did. They read The Bible! Well, actually they read The Sacred Scrolls. We have The Holy Bible.
And they worshipped!

What if we did this? What do you think would happen?
And one more question. Why would you not; why would you not invest this time this way?

One Week

My Facebook post of several days ago read: I can’t afford to live angry or afraid – it makes me ill.

I was serious.

I am serious.

And I am about to use a word that will shock some of you – don’t be, believe me, I’ve used more shocking words and probably more recent than you think. :) Certainly, you know words are vehicles of communication and you will surely understand what I am saying when I say:

If you could live just one week not pissed off, you’d never want to go back.

Just one week without the least little thing making the hair on the back of your neck bristle.
Just one week without letting out one of those sighs, you know the kind, when he/she left the door open again or their shoes under the table again, or their clothes on the floor again, or took out their stuff and just left it right there! Again! Just one week that they did not piss you off at the drop of a hat. Just one week.

Warning. This now gets really ugly. Just one week wherein you were self-aware but not self-centered. Just one week when all that stuff they do is not about you. I recently came face to face with ME. And it was UGLY! The ticked off we get at the inconsideration and selfishness and laziness and yang yang yang of them! Guess what? We just described ourselves. How dare them to leave that out for ME to pick up. See the emphasis? It’s ME not them. Now, should they abandon their stuff? Of course not! But are we offended because they are human or because they inconvenienced us?!  I know the answer. I have LIVED it! And I lived it long enough to make me sick!

This is what you want. Just one week when you see such things, you draw in a sweet breath of peace, smile and softly say gotcha! I’m not going there and you can’t make me. Another big smile. A deep breath of peace and the Sweet Smile of JESUS inside. There ain’t nothing like it! Like I said just a week of it and you will fight yourself to the ground to keep it! :)

We don’t have to live angry or afraid. I said LIVE because we all are going to experience anger and fear; this is an angry world, full of fear but we don’t have to LIVE that way even when it snatches us by the throat from time to time. We can breathe in the peace of GOD, smile and say nope, no going there. Not today.

Can we do this perfectly every day? Nope. But we can practice and get better and better at it until we see JESUS Face to face.

Assurances

I’d like to publicly pray with you. I have posted a few times on Facebook what was meant for evil GOD means for good. I am assured of that. I am assured that we are not alone in this Coronavirus or any other troubling, threatening situation. GOD has not forsaken us; He may not even be fed up with us yet. (insert smile) :)

I’ve watched a bit of News today, reports of people pulling together, helping one another are trickling into the media feed. Do you know how good that is?!

Let us not let this opportunity get away from us. Whether you are a family sequestered at home or even just one and her cat, seek GOD. Seize, grab hold with all you have this opportunity for serious praying, reading Scripture, listening to good music (gospel music even). Hone your skill of listening to the Father and your family. Text, phone,  facetime even with those you love but can’t hang out with right now. Believe that GOD has got you in this and that He is speaking; that you can come through this with a testimony that says it was worth it all!

Let’s pray.

Abba, I am so grateful and thankful for the assurance and the confidence You have given that we are not alone in this and that You are not mad at us, that You are taking what the evil one meant to kill us with to awaken us, help us, lift us up to higher planes of delight and assurance of Your love and grace and sufficiency. I pray our hearts and eyes will open wide willingly and with deep adoration see You at work and to join You in each place you lead. I pray Holy Spirit that You will inspire us and lead us to open the Bible and let You pour Your Word into us like never before. I pray this season of Coronavirus will turn for our good so well and so much that the Evil One will be sorry he ever messed with us. Papa, there are people, if not already, very soon will be hurting for money; for food, rent, car payments and so much more because businesses are closed and paychecks are halted. I ask You to open up provisions for each. And those who are already ill, I ask that You heal them. Please boost immune systems, please get the medicines needed to those who need it and to others, please just touch them and heal them I pray.  I pray we will not miss You in all this; not miss the good and holy things You want to do in our lives and not miss the good that we can do for one another. Mainly, I ask that we individually will accept Your invitation for deeper intimacy with You and Your Word and with those we are privileged to weather this storm with. All this I ask Papa GOD in YESHUA’s sweet, holy name.
