Roots in a glass.
Yep. That’s one of the things for which I am giving thanks today.
I harvested the last of my basil last week or possibly the week before, brought it into the kitchen, and deposited the few stems in a glass jar. Many years ago in a Friend’s kitchen, I admired her basil growing beautifully green and healthy in a glass.
Later I tried it too — but failed.
But this time I have ROOTS!
Roots in a glass. More than roots, I have leaves! Albeit, I do not have as many leaves, or are they as beautiful as Carolyn’s but perhaps with time, sunshine, and water more will grow.
For now, I have these and I am grateful.
3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank,
bearing fruit each season.
Their leaves never wither,
and they prosper in all they do. Psalm 1 (source)
I’ll take that!
Psalm 1 is speaking of something more than my roots in a glass so may I encourage you to read it in context.
