Let and Let Not

I picked up John 14 to read this morning, preliminary preparation for Sunday, and I am stopped at the first five words.

“Don’t let yourselves be disturbed.

via John 14 KJV;CJB – Let not your heart be troubled: ye – Bible Gateway.

As you may know this is Yeshua speaking to His Disciples and obviously He is speaking to me and I hope to you this morning. I suppose I could see this as a choice; I can choose to let not that or this disturb me and I am certain that is true. There must be a choice because I have done both – Let and Let Not. And having a choice theology feels good; we like that free will thing. Free to Choose.

But for the Disciples and for me this morning I am sensing more. I think I hear a Loving Command here. As in you are My Disciple so don’t let yourself be disturbed by this and that because I AM here with you.

I like choice. But I think I like this command more. It’s personal. It’s the Voice of the Savior speaking to one of His Own.

Perhaps you’d like to listen and see if you hear a loving command beyond a choice.

Just a Little Trivia That’s Not so Trivial

11 Upon entering the house, they saw the child with his mother Miryam; and they prostrated themselves and worshipped him. Then they opened their bags and presented him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

via Matthew 2 KJV;CJB – Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of – Bible Gateway.

This as you know is speaking of the Magi. They had traveled far and for many many months, perhaps nearly two years to reach the house described here. They first prostrated themselves and worshiped the GOD Toddler and then offered their gifts. Their gifts were costly and prophetic. Gold, frankincense and myrrh. I have said in 21st Century terms that the Father was paying His Child Support with these gifts and I actually believe that.  Gold to finance the trip to Egypt and back, I think, and perhaps longer until YESHUA was old enough to work in the carpenter shop. However, a little research has told me the frankincense and myrrh may have been even more valuable than the gold. Click HERE and read about these two medicinal, healing resins. And as you may know myrrh is a burial ‘spice’.

Here’s an excerpt: The Roman historian and botanist Pliny the Elder, who recommended frankincense as an antidote to hemlock poisoning, wrote in the first century A.D. that the pricey dried sap had made the southern Arabians the richest people on earth.

Poisoning.

For sure, for sure JESUS is the cure for what has poisoned us. He is surely the antidote for all that ails us.  He surely died to give us life and He is a treasure light years more precious than the purest gold.

As the title of today’s post says: a little trivia that is by no means trivial. I hope you have enjoyed the information and I hope we will all become more and more in AWE of our GOD as we learn more and more that HE is the Master of the Details.  I find much comfort and security in this fact.

ABBA, ADONAI, HOLY SPIRIT, You are Awesome. Thank You, thank You for being You and drawing us to Yourself in YESHUA’s Holy Name.

Anyhow

It was not a rest-filled night. And this morning my first Scripture thoughts were this: My Grace is sufficient for thee.

9 but he told me, “My grace is enough for you, for my power is brought to perfection in weakness.” Therefore, I am very happy to boast about my weaknesses, in order that the Messiah’s power will rest upon me.

via 2 Corinthians 12 KJV;CJB – It is not expedient for me doubtless to – Bible Gateway.

Do you know the context?
Paul had an infirmity. It troubled him. He was weary of it. He wanted it to be gone!
Perhaps akin to night sweats and hot flashes. Anybody relate?

I don’t know why Father physically heals some and not others. I don’t know why some suffer much and others do not. But I do know if we surrender as Paul did here we will find Father’s grace enough that we can glory anyhow.

I recall David Jeremiah said there are two things he remembers in dark seasons: God is good and God loves me.

I think that is key to successfully living with bitter conditions and hard stuff.

God is Good
and
God loves ME.

I shall think about that today.

Thank You, Father, thank You. I pray for us all to glory in Your Power shown perfect in our weaknesses.
You are good and You do love us. For sure. For sure. Thank You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
