Guidelines for the New Year

It has been a pleasant, soul-feeding day; not to mention the body feeding as well.  Oven fried pork chops, black-eyed peas, cabbage, turnip greens, cornbread and for some sweet tea; for yours truly unsweetened and I have actually grown to prefer it — most of the time.  And with a quick ‘have a little talk with JESUS’ prayer I resisted the urge for Dunkin Donuts this evening.

Speaking of ‘have a little talk with JESUS’ praying, I am determined to do more of that this year as evidenced by this evening – It works!

My Little Girl has a great guideline for the New Year. She posted it to Facebook; I’m borrowing it.

2014 is going to be a great year! Live a life of joy every day!! — feeling hopeful.

And she is smart enough to know that every day is not going to lend its self to happiness; but she is also wise enough to know we can CHOOSE to retain the JOY of the LORD.

John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

We have covenanted to remind one another.  :)

Some pots and pans are calling. Happy Day 2 of 2014!!

Happy Day!

Well, the years have clicked away and I have arrived at that milepost in time! I’m officially a senior citizen! But I don’t feel like one! I am reminded of Joshua. I like what he said and while I can’t truthfully say it, I’d like to keep working on it. :)

My hubby is giving me a GREAT gift for my birthday – his time! He is taking the day off to spend with me and I am thrilled to squealing out loud when he told me. I am blessed beyond! And grateful!

One thing I greatly miss though: my Momma and I used to race to see who could call the other one first. If I was first I would congratulate her for being my Momma and she would wish me a happy happy birthday. Someday we’ll have a heavenly party!

Friends, even if it is not your birthday, make this day count!

James 4:13-15 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

13 Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such-and-such a city, stay there a year trading and make a profit”! 14 You don’t even know if you will be alive tomorrow! For all you are is a mist that appears for a little while and then disappears. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If Adonai wants it to happen, we will live” to do this or that.

Right

Is there anything harder in this Christian Life than giving up your right to want to hurt someone who has hurt you especially when they did it knowing it was hurting you but did it anyway?

I am in the process and it is wildly hard.

The mind plays and plays the evil they did; moreover, you told them to stop, even explained the pain and they kept on and finally, you are stuck paying the consequences for their sins.

As I said is there anything harder?

And so you pray and you work remembering Scripture and you pray more and at some point, you surrender your right to want to hurt them because you know that is what is best for you and that is what JESUS desires for you.

Does it make what they did right? Does it cancel their sin? Absolutely not!

Does it make what they did any less malicious? Absolutely not!

Does it mean they will not reap what they have sown? Absolutely not!

Does it mean I will not rejoice when what goes around comes around? Actually yes it does! That is how I know forgiveness has come.

Does it mean when I think of what they have done to me, I will hurt less? Yeah, actually it does.  ONLY JESUS can work a miracle like this!  And I’m looking for a miracle. James 5:16 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

16 Therefore, openly acknowledge your sins to one another, and pray for each other, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Ephesians 4:32 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted; and forgive each other, just as in the Messiah God has also forgiven you.
