Safe Eyes

I’ve heard it said I wish you could see you with my eyes.

Would it be safe for me to see me with your eyes? If I see me with the eyes of one who approves me perhaps I will see me too favorably. If I see myself with the eyes of one who has aught against me for sure I will critique myself with a heavy dash of inferiority or worse.

Is it possible to see ourselves honestly?
Perhaps not perfectly honest this side of the grave, but close enough to make us safe, I think.

Life’s hard, folks. But I will not stop with only that truth.

Here’s the redeeming life truth: Even when life is hard and bitter and unfair; GOD is still good. And He is always good in all ways.

17 Adonai is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds. source Psalm 145.

This is my great eye (I) adjustment.  A life verse, if you will. And when I remember to critique happenings with it, it works really well. But there’s more to life than happenings, there are PEOPLE.  And I’m one of those people. So it’s pretty important how I see (critique) people.

This I know. If I see myself as a victim of the thoughts and deeds of others, I’m sunk!
I will critique myself in all manner of non-healthy ways and with that, I will respond to others accordingly.
This is unacceptable.
It’s also non-authentic I am learning.
Authentic is my word this year.

Where can I safely go to get a right appraisal of myself?

We are all infected and impure with sin.     When we display our righteous deeds,     they are nothing but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall,     and our sins sweep us away like the wind.  source  Isaiah 64

On the face of it, that does not look like good news; but I’m good with admitting it, and have been since one historic day. Filthy rag me died and a new me was born.  A reversal of Eden we could say. (See Genesis 2 and 3)

2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV) 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.   21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.  source

Made the righteousness of God in Him.  That’s as good as it gets, Folks! And if it’s good enough for God, and it is, it better be good enough for me! And it is. (Notwithstanding the needed practice.)

There are more confirming, encouraging, enlightening passages that confirm who we are in CHRIST JESUS.  You may read them HERE

Am I in CHRIST? That is the all-important question.

At the top of the page, we said: I’ve heard it said I wish you could see you with my eyes.

I don’t see ABBA wishing, but I see Him desiring me to see me as He sees me.  That would solve a lot of problems, wouldn’t it?

A Key

I’m still praying, still thinking about this word authentic; what it means to be and live authentically this year.  Perhaps there is more than one key to authentic living but here’s one. Just a thought I had today.

If I believe GOD loves me based only on what I see Him do or allow to be done, there will be times I will doubt He loves me. But if I believe He loves me based on who HE IS, I will always KNOW He loves me.

I John 4:16 TLV So we have come to know and trust in the love that God has for us. God is love.   . .  .      source

Yes He has love for us but much more importantly HE IS LOVE always and forever. Not something a finite brain can get itself wrapped around but we will . . . someday.  And until then we will learn day by day to trust what we have heard.

Romans 10:17  (AMPC)  17 So faith comes by hearing [what is told], and what is heard comes by the preaching [of the message that came from the lips] of Christ (the Messiah Himself).    source

It’s a Bonus Day

Someone I loved. Someone I miss would often said: It’s a bonus day.

A bonus post today.

As you may have read You Version is a Godsend for me. Rarely does a day go by that I do not open my phone app to read a devotion or two and some TEXT.

I read this today and it speaks so well to me that I really want to share it and here seems like the likely place. :)

It’s from Destined to Win. authenticityJust a five-day commitment of reading for a lifetime of better living.

Unleashing Heaven When you have Jesus living in you, you have everything you need to rise above the trials of life and become the person you were created to be in God. Refuse to be reduced by your fears, restricted by your past, or derailed by your critics or your worst day. Instead, live as a believer who rises to the high call of God in Christ Jesus and thus becomes fully actualized in your personhood. Champions are forged in the crucible of life and are molded by the Potter’s hands, which often look familiar, human, and anything but divine. There are times when the hands of the Potter seem to be forcefully working the clay of your life, painfully shaping you into a different vessel for greater glory. Yet at the end of the day, when the wheel has ceased and the noise has stopped, you find peace in the depths of your soul, knowing you yielded your heart to the Master. Jesus’ twelve disciples weren’t exactly Fortune 500 CEOs, but something powerful happened to them as they hung out with Jesus. They spent three-and-a-half years on the Potter’s wheel and were molded into champions. Even the guy who denied Jesus three times was a force to be reckoned with who became a famous world-changer, the head of the first-century church. Many people make excuses as to why they can’t be champions, winners, or world-changers. They think they’re not smart enough, spiritual enough, strong enough, or liked enough to be great. But nothing could be further from the truth. God loves to form winners out of chumps, wimps, and weaklings. Paul said it best: “God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong” (1 Corinthians 1:27). Never underestimate God’s ability to take the broken pieces of your life and remold you into something beautiful. Remember that no matter where you are in life, or how you might be feeling right now, Jesus believes in you. He is bigger than your worst mistake, better than your worst day, and more powerful than your worst circumstances. Put your trust in Him; you will never regret it. After all, you are destined to win!

The first sentence! Bam! Truth alive!  A key to authenticity!

When you have Jesus living in you, you have everything you need to rise above the trials of life and become the person you were created to be in God.

And this:

but something powerful happened to them as they hung out with Jesus

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 The Message (MSG) 26-31 . . . Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from God by way of Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.” source
