Second

Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3 source

Wednesday night’s message at FBCS was good – John 3:1-21

I have a note in the margin of John 3: we must have a second birth to avoid the second death. You will find the second death mentioned only a few times in the KJV of the Bible but those few are enough to send the warning that we all want to miss it! See HERE.

Obviously, we all have had the first birth and perhaps the second — if you visit here often! :)

The first birth brings us into this natural world.  The second into the REAL world – the Kingdom of GOD.

Nicodemus had questions. Nicodemus was a learned man who did not understand spiritual matters. Nicodemus is not alone.  So were/are we until we are ready to be shown by the HOLY SPIRIT.  John 3 with the guidance of the HOLY SPIRIT explains it perfectly to every willing soul. Read it for yourself. HERE

The second death is reserved for those who choose not the second birth.

It’s simple really.
Born once, die twice.
Born twice, die once.

Got it?

End All Of

Number 3 is Thefts.

13 Things

Immediately, I am thinking thefts could be endless. O! the things we can steal! And I am thinking of the initial, main thief; the one who steals from us and encourages us to steal from one another.

John 10:10  (AMP)10 The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]. source

Like what? What thefts?
Well, our courts are brimming with cases of stolen goods and services. Thefts are perpetrated by blue-collar, white-collar, and no-collar.

Is this what JESUS is talking about in Mark 7 Thefts of property? Thefts of material goods and services? I think so, but that’s not all, is it?

What is the end of all thefts to you? The most heinous that comes to mind? There are many, aren’t there?

Consider this one with me.
Opportunity!
The theft of opportunity.
We could make endless lists, couldn’t we of opportunities we have stolen from ourselves and those others have ripped from us?
And we could be angry and bitter — and that would rob us even more — of more opportunities!

And then there is the opportunity to introduce another to JESUS.
No other missed opportunity bears eternal consequences; only this one.

It’s something to think about, isn’t it?

IF

A portion of Wednesday morning’s reading.

John 15:I have loved you just as the Father has loved Me; remain in My love [and do not doubt My love for you]. 10 If you keep My commandments and obey My teaching, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. 11 I have told you these things so that My joy and delight may be in you, and that your joy may be made full and complete and overflowing. source

Remain in My love.
And I asked how is it that I keep jumping out? It didn’t take long to get an answer. Do you see that first word in verse 10? IF. We must pay attention to Ifs. Ifs are conditional. Ifs mean if. If I do this or that; then that and this will happen; and if I don’t, it won’t.

So what is the IF I must do to remain IN The LORD’s love?  Wait! NOTHING I do or do not do will cause Him to love me (or you) less or more. BUT if we fail to do the IF we will surely love Him less.  So what is that IF?

Let’s go back to the Text.  IF I (you) keep His commandments, IF I (you) obey His teachings we Will love Him more and more and more.

So, when I find my love for Him is waning, cooling off, not as intense, not as sweet, not as comforting — from this verse I can know I have slacked off on the IF. I’ve ignored, refused, and/or just flat-out failed to do what He taught me to do.

BUT THE GOOD NEWS is with repentance my love will grow again!

Reading Truth!

The reading of Luke 1.

May I share a few words? Words I underlined as I read. It’s longer than other chapters — but, you just might find it worth the read.

Why was this Gospel of Luke penned?
Verse 4. So we may know for sure the truth.  So as we read the whole of the Gospel of Luke, let us know we are reading truth. Let truth reign in us.

Verse 37.  We can land on this one. Remember we are reading truth!37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.”  Nothing we bring to Him in prayer, petition, and request is impossible.  Nothing is too big or too small. He cares! Not only does He care. He is able!

45. Blessed is she who trusted . . . there is more to the verse but I am convinced I can safely believe this for me. I am blessed when I trust Him!

In verses 74 and 75 I see we are rescued from the fiercest of enemies to serve The HOLY ONE. To serve Him in holiness and righteousness all our days! This is our calling! This is our duty. This is our greatest privilege and pleasure. Do we believe this truth?

Verse 77. The knowledge of salvation comes through the removal of our sins. It says removal! At salvation! Our sins are removed! We no longer bear them because JESUS did!

Verses 78 and 79. Through our GOD’s heart of mercy . . . we have the guide for our feet. We get to walk in peace on the sod of this hostile world because He was made flesh and dwelt among us! John 1:14 And He is coming again! Revelation 22:20.
