Take a Walk

Mulling over some thoughts this morning related to desiring to please; desiring to be consistently obedient, desiring to just do a better job of living out this Christian Life, I picked up my Bible and began to read aloud as I walked from room to room. It is my custom to continually keep a radio playing Christian music, at various volumes depending on the time of day or night, to bless the house. No I am not kidding; it works for me. So, I said to myself, if Christian music will bless a house, what would the reading of Scripture do?!! So I set out to find out – perhaps it will take more than one day to ascertain the full benefits; although I did enjoy myself I will say.

This is one of the Psalms I read.

146 Halleluyah!

Praise Adonai, my soul!
I will praise Adonai as long as I live.
I will sing praise to my God all my life.

Don’t put your trust in princes
or in mortals, who cannot help.
When they breathe their last, they return to dust;
on that very day all their plans are gone.

Happy is he whose help is Ya‘akov’s God,
whose hope is in Adonai his God.
He made heaven and earth,
the sea and everything in them;
he keeps faith forever.

He secures justice for the oppressed,
he gives food to the hungry.
Adonai sets prisoners free,
Adonai opens the eyes of the blind,
Adonai lifts up those who are bent over.
Adonai loves the righteous.
Adonai watches over strangers,
he sustains the fatherless and widows;
but the way of the wicked he twists.

10 Adonai will reign forever,
your God, Tziyon, through all generations.

Halleluyah!

I am an analyzer. It’s what I do. It’s a gift and curse – just ask my daughters. It is possible I have spoiled a movie or two with my analyzing. Enough said about that … :) Moving on to Church.

I think something is missing in Corporate Worship in all the churches I am familiar.  Can you guess what I think in particular it is?  The Reading Aloud of The Word; not as part of the sermon, but just for the sheer joy of hearing it read. But not by just any Reader but one who treasures the Word, one who is passionate about Scripture, one who flat-out enjoys saying the Words.  I really think it would bring people to a place of worship.

And if it is good for the Church House; it’s good for my house and your house. Try it. Pick up your favorite translation and take a walk down the hall, through the den and into the kitchen reading ABBA’s love letter to you.  I think you will like it.

If you have a few more minutes, visit Beth’s Blog and check out this Responsive Reading click HERE. I can tell you from experience, there’s nothing like it when you have 15,000 women together hearing from the Father.

Thank You, ABBA, for again allowing us to gather here. And I pray that someone will be encouraged and that a seed of intense love for Your Word will take root in many hearts. I pray the sheer joy of hearing Your Word read aloud will take hold and that we the people will hear Your Word being read all around. You have promised that Your Word will not return void but will accomplish Your Purpose when You send it forth so we rely upon Your promise and ask to be co-laborers with You speaking Your Word around this world.  And because of this world in which we live there is no doubt some Readers have come here with burdens; for themselves or for others and so I pray Your Attention and Intervention over them for peace of mind and calmness of soul and for healing of bodies and minds and families. And we are mindful of the unrest here in America and around the world. We say to You that we are weary of all things political  and we pray for Your Will to come. And in it all we proclaim You are good and we trust You to bring truth and justice to completion in JESUS name.

James Montgomery

Because You Might Find It Interesting. This comes from my You Version Reading Plan this morning.

ANGELS FROM THE REALMS OF GLORY

Next to Isaac Watts and Charles Wesley, James Montgomery is the most influential hymn writer in the English language. He wrote over 400 hymns, among which is Angels from the Realms of Glory. Montgomery was not a clergyman or musician; rather, he was a newspaper editor! Born in 1771 to Moravian missionaries, Montgomery attended seminary in England. While there, he was notified that his parents had died suddenly on the mission field in the West Indies. Despondent, Montgomery dropped out of school, never returning to seminary. Eventually, he went into the newspaper business–becoming editor of a weekly London paper where he remained for 31 years.

Because Montgomery strongly promoted the abolition of slavery and the rights of the poor, he was considered quite controversial. Twice, he was imprisoned for publishing his views! While in prison, he wrote a number of poems. In 1797, after his release, he published the poems in a book called “Prison Amusements.” His carol, Angels from the Realms of Glory, was first published as an editorial in his newspaper on Christmas Eve, 1816. The tune for this carol was composed by Henry Smart, one of the greatest church organists and composers of his generation. The melody for Angels from the Realms of Glory was composed for a new hymnal being published by Regent Square Presbyterian Church in London. The last two verses of this beautiful song describe the work of the Messiah when He comes to His temple. This vivid word picture comes from two Old Testament prophets–Haggai and Malachi.

Montgomery left the paper in 1825 and devoted the rest of his life promoting missions and other worthwhile causes. From 1833 until his death in 1854, the British government gave him a pension of $1,000 a year because of all his contributions to English society. Henry was blind for many years but continued to turn out many wonderful songs.

If you are of a mind, a prayer would not be wasted on me. A summer cold came on yesterday and is kicking me around fairly well – the first one in a very long time. Thank you Dear Friends.

2013 National Day of Prayer

National Day of Prayer!

I cannot think of anything that America needs more than prayer – the prayer of repentance.

14 if My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

I have many concerns for America. She has many sins. These are grievous and dark days. BUT JESUS is STILL the LIGHT of the WORLD.

5 And this is the message which we have heard from him and proclaim to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him — none!
6 If we claim to have fellowship with him while we are walking in the darkness, we are lying and not living out the truth.
7 But if we are walking in the light, as he is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of his Son Yeshua purifies us from all sin.
8 If we claim not to have sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we acknowledge our sins, then, since he is trustworthy and just, he will forgive them and purify us from all wrongdoing.
10 If we claim we have not been sinning, we are making him out to be a liar, and his Word is not in us.

19 We know that we are from God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the Evil One.
20 And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us discernment, so that we may know who is genuine; moreover, we are united with the One who is genuine, united with his Son Yeshua the Messiah. He is the genuine God and eternal life.

Be Hidden in CHRIST,

ABBA, forgive America for She does not know; her eyes have been blinded; the scales upon her eyes are thick and heavy;  I pray, HOLY SPIRIT, that You will help all of us to be willing to take off the blinders and see the TRUTH.  I pray for mercy. I pray for grace and space to repent. I know it is not Your will that any person die lost. Thank You that You are willing to save. Forgive us, ABBA, and please save America. HOLY SPIRIT, please convince we the people of sin, righteousness and judgment to come in the Mighty name of JESUS. I know You are have enough mercy to go around; I know You have enough love and forgiveness for even those we deem the worst of us; I pray You will send revival to the CHURCH and repentance to the Nation. Amen and amen.

A walk in the yard

I am late for a Monday morning hello. Perhaps I can make amends with pictures from the back yard. That’s where I was after seeing my beloved off from the drive this morning. We worked in the yard on Saturday. I have the pink shoulders to prove it. No picture of that. :)

We do not have a show place of a yard – far from it. But we have some beauty there. As is said: ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder.’

Take these blooms for instance. To some they are ‘weeds’ good only to be mowed down. To me they are patches of beauty that bring a smile to my face every time I see them. So I transplanted some of these ‘weeds’ from the boundary line between our neighbors and us to a bed beneath the window. When I step out back, they greet me. I am hoping they spread and fill the bed. image

Perhaps you will have to look close to see but these are strawberries. Last year’s plants that made it through the winter in a makeshift greenhouse positioned over them. Since adding the cow manure and cedar shavings they are growing great. We are hoping!!image

Calla lilies. Purchased them a couple of weekends ago. One of my favorites.  Just about any lily has my attention and appreciation. image2  I am but a rose from the Sharon, just a lily in the valleys.

via Song of Solomon 2:1 KJV;CJB – I am the rose of Sharon, and the lily – Bible Gateway. Song of Solomon 2:1 Complete Jewish Bible (CJB)

This one is special too. As Daisies run a close second in the race for me as to beauty in the garden. These are also last year’s planting. Oh to be as hardy as these Daisies. You see they came through the winter to bloom again without the protection of a makeshift greenhouse. The cold rendered them dark and curled but Spring came and they revived! Revival is a beautiful gift – oh! that the Christian Church would receive such a gift from our CREATOR.

See the splotches of white in this next picture? Those are orchids. Wild, in a sense. And they grow only in the shade. When we brought them to Sioux Street from a treasured friend in Fairhope, along the fence in the shade seemed to be the only place we had to put them. To my delight they have multiplied! But they are so far from the house. So on Saturday we decided to move a couple to a now shady spot closer in view.  image

And this morning I got a glorious surprise while walking in the yard. Oh I hope in a few years they have multiplied as the ones along the fence.

Sorta reminds you of Solomon doesn’t it?

29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Be Hidden in CHRIST,

Thank You, ABBA, for this beauty right in our own backyard. Help us all to see the beauty in our own backyards – the natural and the supernatural. Help us learn who You are from what You have made and what You have said. Create in us a longing to KNOW You. Really know You and appreciate You. Abba, I am in this moment reminded of an article I read earlier today. It was not pretty. It was as ugly as man gets. It praised itself for hating You. And demanded others to hate You too all in the name of tolerance and patriotism. ABBA, forgive them for they know not what they do – that is what You said, YESHUA. Please help me from my heart to say the same. And, HOLY SPIRIT, protect the minds of young ones who are brow beaten with this hellishness; protect them and provide others with Your Truth to come along side and under gird them. And I dare not pray just for mine but for every Reader with a military loved one I pray for strength to stand and believe the TRUTH. It seems we have a greater enemy within the ranks than across the way. Even so LORD JESUS we trust You and we choose to rejoice because You are alive forever. Thank You for allowing us to live in this time and place. Thank You for attending JamieTerri, Lance. We are grateful for every good and strong day they have and even for other days that You still use for their good. Thank You, LORD. Carol comes to mind too. Not sure how to pray or what to ask but Your Will to be made plain. Continued strength and courage for Dori, Kerri and Pam. And thank You, thank You for Josh’s no cancer report! Thank you, ABBA. The morning is nearly spent here, I pray the investment brings a harvest for Your glory and our good. Amen and amen.
