Ricochets and Boomerangs

The month of May; the month I think about baggage. It’s the time a certain beloved man said,”I don’t need any baggage.” and I said, “Well, I got some.”

Baggage. We don’t have to live long on the planet before it begins to collect. Some have no memory of a time without baggage. But that’s another story.

Baggage. It clutters our relationships, often to suffocation and divorce.

Why?

Because there is One Baggage Handler and we often refuse to check our baggage with HIM. We just keep carrying it on-board every relationship, every marriage.

Baggage. It makes us thin-skinned and eventually mean spirited. I see it everywhere. At times in the mirror.
Thin-skinned and mean spirited. That’s when our baggage becomes OUR SIN. Baggage most often begins as someone else’s sin perpetrated upon us. And we pick it up and trudge on.

Why?

Baggage makes us projectors. Into each relationship we project what was – expecting . . .  and we are disappointed. Why? Because he/she/we cannot measure up to those projections. None of us!
And we all do it! ALL!

Why?

That’s a good question.

Here’s another one. Why do we refuse to check our baggage with THE BAGGAGE HANDLER?  (pic borrowed)

I know the answer to that one!
It has to do with how our mirror is facing. In or out. Oh. And our Bibles. Are they facing us or facing out?

Got it? Yep! Square in my face!

Matthew 11: (AMP) 28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavily burdened [by religious rituals that provide no peace], and I will give you rest [refreshing your souls with salvation] .source

Fig Leaves

How are you? We answer it with varied responses.
I’m good. I’m tired. I’m busy. I’m _____________ fill in the blank.

Do you know the first question GOD asked mankind?
Do you know HE asked other questions? Have you answered them?  Do you know what they are? Would you like to know?

Genesis 3: Then Adonai Elohim called to the man and He said to him, “Where are you?” source

Where are you? A most important question. Do you know where you are? Do I know where I am?
Well, Adam and Eve where in the Garden when THE LORD GOD asked. He knew. But did they? Where is more than a geographical location. How many of you know you can be here, present, but far, far away?

So where are you? Where are you with GOD? Where you are with Him determines where you are with me and all others in your world.

So where are you? Adam and Eve were naked – so GOD clothed them.  And they RECEIVED the coverings He offered. He is still offering. Who is receiving?

Genesis 3: 21 Adonai Elohim made Adam and his wife tunics of skin and He clothed them. source

In order for Adam and Eve to receive GOD’s Covering for them they had to come out from hiding — this has not changed.  Many in our world are hiding from GOD under fig leaves of their own making – are you one of them?

Genesis 3 .  It’s all there. Click and read.

Oh, the other questions GOD has asked?

Arrogance and Self-righteousness

I think my favorite definition of Arrogance I found so far came to me at Studylight.org.

The sense of license

How descriptive is that?!
Have you seen it displayed? That countenance; that carriage that says clear the path, I’m coming through.  And I’ve seen it more subtly; hiding in irritation and aggravation when opposition arises.  No doubt we all have; however, I am herewith testifying the worse place to find it displayed is in the mirror – even subtly!

Self-righteousness.
I came at this in reverse. Looking first at righteousness. Again, Studylight.org helped. There I read that righteousness is observing divine law.
So, could we say self-righteousness is observing self-law; determining within ourselves what is right, what is wrong, what we will observe, what we will do based on ourselves and what we want, what we believe? Who besides me, knows that is deadly?  And now I dare say it is self-righteousness that gives birth to arrogance.  When we decide within ourselves what is right and wrong, we give ourselves a license to do as we, please. Like I said: Deadly!

We have one more installment in this series. Tomorrow. Foolishness.

Proverbs 22:15  (AMP)15 Foolishness is bound up in the heart of a child;
The rod of discipline [correction administered with godly wisdom and lovingkindness] will remove it far from him.  source

How this will play out tomorrow? I have no clue today.  :)

Slander and Profanity.
O! this is rampant!

Slander. Again, both a noun and a verb. Something we do and something done unto us.

The short version is this: A false tale or report maliciously uttered. For the full definition, you may click HERE I hope you will and then you can turn on just about any media source and you will receive live demonstrations in abundance.

Profanity. 1828 Webster. Well, Noah had no concept of what we hear spoken today. For the word Profanity he gave little definition; so, I checked the word profane. It was lengthy. This is number One:

Irreverent to any thing sacred; applied to persons. A man is profane when he takes the name of God in vain, or treats sacred things with abuse and irreverence.

For the remainder, please visit the site.

Profanity is more than just the words people say; it’s souls without a holy reverence for THE MESSIAH. The Passover Lamb. The Creator. The One and Only True GOD of the Universe.

A wise gentlemen told me long ago, “there are no dirty words but, there is filthy communication”. I think he’d need to find a stronger word than filthy to adequately describe the now we live in. Perhaps, he would say there are no dirty words, but there is profane communication.

We are nearing the end of this series and frankly I’m eager to be done with it. It has not been pleasant to write; likely, unpleasant to read; so lets not chance the outcome of living any of it!

Whatcha say? What are we communicating to one another with our words and our doings?
