Wear No More

The speaker talked about baggage; baggage is easy to collect in this hostile world, and when it’s packed and stuffed for years – it gets heavy. Really heavy.
I can attest to this truth. Perhaps you can too.

And the speaker shared Matthew 11:28

28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. source

The Speaker reminded me of the many pieces of baggage that we may be picking up each morning and carrying around until sleep comes in the night.
Words, actions, losses, griefs, etc., etc. that we have yet to properly process – emotions we stuffed, packed down, and now we carry each one daily on our shoulders, our necks, our backs – all the places that HURT.

And yes Matthew 11:28 is sweet, burden lifting relief  – when we believe and apply its message.
But I must tell you I don’t think the primary message of Matthew 11:28 is our emotional hurts and losses.

The largest, heaviest, most unbearable burden is the weight and penalty of SIN.

And JESUS offers us to COME, for us to come to HIM and bring that weight, burden, the baggage of sin that we can NEVER, NEVER, NEVER unload.
BUT we can humble ourselves and allow HIM to lift it from us.
And as HE does we can gratefully receive HIS Forgiveness and HIS Very Own Righteousness in exchange for our sin burden.

So this verse becomes all the more special. It speaks to us in Salvation, our Deliverance from the penalty of sin AND it continues to speak and comfort and encourage us all the way from our Damascus Road to Heaven.
It reassures us that we have a BURDEN BEARING SAVIOR who is ALWAYS with us to lift the paralyzing weight of any hurt, wound, or loss that we will bring to Him

The question now is — will we?
Will we bring all our baggage (sin, hurts, griefs, bring it all) to JESUS?
Will we let HIM wash it, dry it, fold it, and put it away, for us to wear no more?

Excellent Storm Prep

What do we do when a storm is headed our way?

Let’s see.  We tune in to those who have expertise in the science of weather.
We take in supplies.
We batten down the hatches so to speak – secure outside objects that could be tossed about and cause damage.
Some of us do up the laundry. We charge our phones. We locate our flashlights.
And if we have a generator, we check our supply of fuel.

We do all this because we believe a storm is headed our way.

In other words, we take the threat seriously.

A temporal storm that will cause temporal damage to temporal property.
However, in all this temporal there is the eternal to be considered.

While a rain, thunder, and wind storm is a temporal occurrence and it may affect, damage, even destroy temporal property; it can do more — it can permanently end this temporal journey on planet earth for you, me, and/or the people we love.
Then what?

When a temporal event brings eternity into view — what then?

How do we prepare for the everlasting storm?
It’s not one, One really wants to ride out, is it?

Hell, I mean. The everlasting storm.

Have you listened to The Expert about this eternal firestorm?
Have you as did the Five wise virgins purchased all the Oil you need to keep your lamp burning so the storm will pass you by? (I am referring to Matthew 25)

Storms.
It’s important that we prepare, don’t you think?

I suspect that many of you have exchanged your sins for the Righteousness of JESUS and I am rejoicing with you!

IF, however, you have not and IF you can still HEAR the Voice of HOLY SPIRIT convicting you of your sins and your need of The Savior — that’s excellent!
It’s not too late for you — you can today, repent, trust and receive forgiveness, assurance, and deliverance in JESUS’ NAME.

Allow me to give you an excellent link to an
excellent illustration that has been an excellent help to me. Click HERE.

Yes. There is a temporal storm headed our way tonight and I am working on the laundry and my phone is charging — Ipad too.

In Between

I am still thinking about an earlier post: A Weekend Suggestion.

And reading Matthew 27 again brings it all the more to mind.

In A Weekend Suggestion, I reminded us that JESUS is the LIGHT of the World.
Matthew 27 tells us on the day YESHUA died BEFORE He died, from noon to about 3:00 the sun did not shine — it was dark. There was darkness everywhere.
That means something to me.

Allow me to share some of my thinking with you about Christiandom. It seems to me for the last many centuries people have been distracted by the beatings, spitting, heinous actions of the people against Yeshua. Yes, distracted.
Distracted from what we desperately need to see.
We concentrate on the trial, the lies, the cat of nine tails, the crown of thorns — and we should be moved even more by it than we are but it is NOT the wrath of man against JESUS that saves us.
No.
It isn’t.
It is that
HE submitted Himself to the WRATH of THE FATHER poured out on HIM.

You read that right it is not the suffering He suffered at the hands of man BUT the WRATH OF GOD poured out on HIM by His Very Own FATHER GOD!

From Noon until about 3 o’clock we have no idea, no imagination, no comprehension, no means of knowing the HELL that was poured out on JESUS while He was alive on that cross.

Why?
Because it was the ONLY WAY TO SAVE YOU AND ME!

JESUS suffered heinous, horrible, unholy, cruel, demonic physical assaults to His perfect Human Flesh but that was NOT GOD’s WRATH.
That was man’s wrath against GOD.

What saved you and me was what happened to JESUS, the GODMAN on that cross in the DARK.
When the LIGHT of the WORLD became DARKNESS.
The darkness we are without Him.

When HE said It is finished. That’s what He meant it.
It was Finished; the WRATH had been poured out and HE took it  — every last drop of it.
Isaiah 53:6
Mark 14:32-42
Romans 5:12-19

And then to fully identify with us and to fulfill every jot and tittle of prophecy HE DIED.

And in three days — HE arose from being graveyard dead!

Got doubts?
Consider this.
During that darkness, JESUS cried out:

45 Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour.
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lema sabaktanei?” that is, My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”  source

And this:
