A Priority Concern

of mine this morning is Sheila.

Sheila is my Baby Girl’s Mother-in-law. We learned last week after a biopsy that Sheila has pancreatic cancerSince the biopsy she has been so very ill; we are presently into our second hospitalization since the biopsy. We so very much covet your prayers as we walk this season.

My Journey this morning is about the suffering we are allowed to bear, that it is intended for His Glory. We are believing that.

This comes to mind:

Psalm 23: 4Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
via Psalm 23 KJV – The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not – Bible Gateway.

I will fear no evil; for thou art with me

I am noting that it does not say that evil will not come; most assuredly it will; it has! But David chose to fear not because THE SHEPHERD was with him. HIS rod and staff would comfort David.

What is true for David is true for us, for you.

Thank You, ABBA. Thank You, HOLY SPIRIT, for Your ministry of bringing to our remembrance, You said You would and You have and You will. Thank You. This pancreatic cancer we equate with evil, meant to kill and destroy but we look for YOUR GLORY in it and, HOLY SPIRIT, we ask and thank You in advance for every strength and good comfort that will come as You prompt dear ones to pray for Sheila, for the family. It hits hard; particularly the tender, tender heart of our Baby Girl. Thank You for Your comfort and strength and in this moment I ask You unashamedly and with boldness that You will remove the cancer and let Sheila continue to live here with us. And I must not stop with Sheila, there are others in this circle of dear ones that have burdens just as bitter and hard and for them we pray for healing as well. And I am reminded too of another kind of hurt; that needs wisdom and counsel; you know all the ends and out of it and I ask You to bring alongside people to help and bring information and means to get the job done. Thank You, ABBA. And for every one who comes here to read and pray, I ask that the minds of our hearts be enlightened and our knowledge and love for You increase mightily.  Amen and . . .   .

Quiet

can be good.

At the reading of this I hope all of you have rested well; at the writing of this I am fading fast, looking forward to sleep. It has been a quiet Resurrection Sunday for us, albeit a long one. Sunrise service at 6:30; Sunday School, praise and message, lunch, a leisurely ride and a stop at the store for oranges before getting home a bit ago. And through it all has been the sense of His love and presence.  JESUS! Oh what a Savior!!

Psalm 68:
19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears our burden, The God who is our salvation. Selah.

35 O God, You are awesome from Your sanctuary. The God of Israel Himself gives strength and power to the people. Blessed be God!
via Psalm 68 NASB – The God of Sinai and of the Sanctuary. – Bible Gateway

Go forth into this new week trusting Him and receiving His strength through it all.

Thank You, ABBA. You are forever faithful to us. It has been a beautiful day; thank You. And now I pray for all who come here to read and pray that each will receive Your strength for every challenge. Amen and . . .   .

Passion Week

Yesterday  (Day 1) we remembered The LORD’s CHRIST, JESUS THE MESSIAH,  and His entry into Jerusalem. The people shouted Hosanna, Hosanna! What a scene!

See (read) the scene again at

Matthew 21

Beginning at verse 6 – JESUS is riding into Jerusalem.

In Luke 19:41-44 see HIM weep over the beloved City.

That was yesterday.

Today we are remembering other encounters.

See Him teach His Beloved Disciples with a Barren Fig Tree:

The Barren Fig Tree   Matthew 21

18 Now in the morning, when He was returning to the city, He became hungry.
19 Seeing a lone fig tree by the road, He came to it and found nothing on it except leaves only; and He *said to it, “No longer shall there ever be any fruit from you.” And at once the fig tree withered.
20 Seeing this, the disciples were amazed and asked, “How did the fig tree wither all at once?”
21 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ it will happen.
22 And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.”
via Matthew 21 NASB – The Triumphal Entry – When they had – Bible Gateway.

See Him cleanse the Temple.

Luke 19: 45 Jesus entered the temple and began to drive out those who were selling,
46 saying to them, “It is written, ‘AND MY HOUSE SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER,’ but you have made it a ROBBERS’ DEN.”
47 And He was teaching daily in the temple; but the chief priests and the scribes and the leading men among the people were trying to destroy Him, 48 and they could not find anything that they might do, for all the people were hanging on to every word He said.
via Luke 19 NASB – Zaccheus Converted – He entered Jericho – Bible Gateway.

And the last two verses of Matthew 21 oh how sad!!
The Chief Priests.
The Pharisees.
They saw, they heard, they KNEW the Words JESUS spoke revealed their hearts. But they refused to repent.

Matthew 21:
45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard His parables, they understood that He was speaking about them.
46 When they sought to seize Him, they feared the people, because they considered Him to be a prophet.
via Matthew 21 NASB – The Triumphal Entry – When they had – Bible Gateway.

ABBA, help us see much this week. Help us see ourselves this week as You see us. Help us repent, help us rejoice, help us praise, help us worship, help us adore You and bring to JESUS the glory He deserves. The glory You deserve, ABBA.  HOLY SPIRIT, we are depending on You to reveal ABBA’s heart and our own hearts as we remember Passion Week. We are depending on You to revive us, to enable us to repent, to quicken us alive – we know You are able, for You raised JESUS from the dead and so will You quicken our mortal bodies today and on that day. Amen and . . .  .

Opportunities to Succeed

Reviewing conversations and observations of the past 48 or so hours, push past it, came to mind.

It’s wise counsel.

In particular I was initially thinking of physical exertion and children. Have you notice how easily young ones give up when the physical exertion is not of their liking? Their poor little bodies tire out so easily and the concept of pushing past the ‘I’m done with this’ or ‘I want to be done with this’ or ‘this is boring’  or ‘I’m tired’ does not occur to them.

Little can be accomplished if we give up at the first twinge of

I don’t want to do this
I’m tired
This is too hard
This is boring
This is not my job
I didn’t make this mess
What’s the point
This hurts

And for sure the reasons to not push past it are as plenteous as the tasks. Let me rephrase that to ‘opportunities to succeed’. Opportunities to improve our physical endurance, to complete a put off chore,  to reach a new goal or perhaps a long-standing one. And lets broaden this to include relationships —  push past it and resolve old hurts, new hurts, unresolved issues, new issues — push past it.

Push past it.

Push past it for

new muscle tone in those arms
a stronger heart
better circulation in your extremities
a completed manuscript
a clean floor
another verse of Scripture memorized
a restored relationship

and the list goes on.

Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us.
via Romans 8:36-38 KJ21 – As it is written: “For Thy sake we – Bible Gateway.

Make it so, ABBA, that we will push past it and in You, LORD JESUS, we shall be more than conquerors. More than conquerors in all those things now resisting us from our flesh, the world and the enemy of our souls. Thank You, HOLY SPIRIT, for this word today and I pray for strength for each of us to apply it.  Remembering others too; Nick and Cindy for sure and troubled adults come to mind just now who are still children to Moms and Dads; ones so ill from disease and many other matters; things so beyond our understanding and beyond our ability to push past so we come for Your Strength and Your Wisdom and in JESUS we know we have all we need. Amen and
