Fresh Again

Surely I knew this. Surely I have seen it before. But today it is fresh again.

16 You did not choose me, I chose you; and I have commissioned you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will last; so that whatever you ask from the Father in my name he may give you.
17 This is what I command you: keep loving each other!

via John 15 KJV;CJB – I am the true vine, and my Father is – Bible Gateway.

It’s a popular doctrine in Christendom: when two of us agree and ask (pray)  in JESUS name then we get what we prayed for.  Right? I mean we like that doctrine and we readily accept it but are we right to believe it as I just stated?  Based on today’s fresh again, I think not necessarily. I think there is a condition to the ask what you will in HIS name and we will receive. And I think if we do not meet that condition we can agree all we want, but we do not have a guarantee that we will receive.

So what is the condition?
I’m glad you asked.
Read again the Text.
What has He commissioned us to do?
Bear Fruit. Fruit that last.
What kind of fruit last?
The kind that receives an eternal reward. (I Corinthians 3:14-16)

Am I bearing such fruit? Perhaps reading verse 17 will clarify.
What does it say?
Do I love people? (John 13:34-36).
If I am not loving people, especially my brothers and sisters with me in the Christian Faith, then I can be sure that I am not bearing fruit that last. I can be sure if I am not loving others I am not demonstrating Galatians 5:21-23.

Yikes! All this could be depressing; a real downer! Because I can tell you right now I DO NOT LOVE PEOPLE PERFECTLY ALL THE TIME! I do not always bear good fruit that will last! There are some days, I am a REAL STINKER by anyone’s standards, especially mine!

But today I have hope! Today I am encouraged! Why? Because He has again shown me this Scripture. He has again reminded me what He requires of me. Which means He is NOT done with me and today I have the opportunity to do well in His name!! That is good news! Today I am assured there is hope for me that I can bear good fruit that will last and I can be trained by the HOLY SPIRIT to love as He has commissioned and the day will come when I can be assured that when I ask in His name I will receive!

Please, please take this little nugget with you today: If the HOLY SPIRIT of GOD is still speaking to you, if a little light has come on in your heart today as you have read His Word, that is a SURE PROMISE that HE is NOT finished with you. Today you can lift your will to HIM and start again!!

Blessing Friends on this 6th day of 2014.

Forego the Distance

Matthew 24:12 and many people’s love will grow cold because of increased distance from Torah.

via Matthew 24:12 KJV;CJB – And because iniquity shall abound, the – Bible Gateway.

This verse is holding my attention today. For a deeper understanding we have to become acquainted with the broad meaning of Torah. Yes, it is the first five books of the Old Testament but Torah is more.

Look I am borrowing from Hebrew4Christians.com which tells us this:

The word Torah (תּוֹרָה) comes from the root word yarah meaning \”to shoot an arrow\” or \”to hit the mark.\” Properly used, the word means \”teaching\” or \”instruction.\” Teaching is associated with the Holy Spirit, just as God taught Moses what to do and say (Exod. 4:15). And it is clear that Yeshua our Messiah assumed the title of Rabbi and performed much of his ministry as a Teacher (John 1:38).  via The Written Torah – Torah Shebikhtav.

When you read the word Torah in the CBJ or Law in Gentile translations of Scripture think teaching or instruction; think the WHOLE COUNSEL of GOD – all that HE has said to us in the Scripture.

Now return to Matthew 24:12.

Love grows cold when we distance ourselves from the Teachings of GOD. When we distance ourselves from abiding in obedience to the WORD of GOD, all manner of unloving behavior begins to go on in our day-to-day walking about.  Not only do I see counsel here for me to heed. I see that the World at large and in particular America has distanced Herself from Torah – it shows in Her behavior.

I can’t change America but I can allow the Torah (the Whole Counsel of ABBA) to transform me. And so can you; and enough of us behaving in real, godly love will put America back on solid footing!

Now that’s something to ponder on Day 3 of 2014.

More

I think a very brief Word is all I have for us today.

Psalm 19:8  (7) The Torah of Adonai is perfect,
restoring the inner person. [source]

When we as Gentiles see the Word Torah we have been taught to think law. That is not wrong but a proper understanding of Torah is more than just Law.  Torah in our English language would be more closely related to our word Teaching. The Torah of the LORD is law, instructions, commands, and counsel, all as our schoolmaster to teach us we need a Savior and to teach us how to live while we are here on this planet.  The Torah, the Teaching, the Whole Counsel of GOD applied to our minds and hearts by the HOLY SPIRIT restores our souls.

So when our souls are parched; when we are ill-tempered and out of sorts; when our countenance is downcast and moody, we are in need of the Torah of the LORD. His Word WILL restore and make glad our souls. We just have to feed on His Torah and allow Him to strengthen and heal us.  It is my hope we will.

Thank You, Father. I pray, HOLY SPIRIT, You will apply Your Word to our souls and we will be healed in the Mighty Name of ADONAI.

I’ll Take It

I was distracted this morning on my way to the kitchen for a bottle of water; when I arrived back to the dressing room I remembered my water. And it was there that a victory was achieved. I’ll take it!

This time rather than berating myself for forgetting the bottle of water I prayed. I voiced, “Thank You, ABBA, that I now remember the water; thank You for health and strength to again walk to the kitchen; thank You for water; thank You for this victory.”

And thank You now, ABBA, for Friends to share this with. I pray it will encourage someone to pray instead when what we have done so often is tell ourselves how stupid we are. Thank You for loving us; thank You for working with us patiently. Thank You for who You are and who You are transforming us to be in JESUS name.

Enjoy the weekend!
