EarShot

daisies-background-3Luke 16

Now this one is a head-scratcher, even a head-in-my-hands one.

This much I think I got.
Worldly Wealth and The Law.

If we miss that He is addressing how we are to respond to worldly wealth and any dependence on the Law to make us right before GOD we will miss His message here in Chapter 16.

He was speaking to His disciples but verse 14 lets us know the Pharisees were listening.  Someone long ago told me this was ricochet ministry. Bouncing it off one to target another who is within earshot.

To me, it is clear in this passage that being poor, sick, or lame does not get you to Heaven; neither does being rich and privileged.

It is a matter of Servanthood.
Are we slaves to worldly wealth and the LAW or are we Servants of THE MOST HIGH GOD?

Our eternity depends on this.

I hope you will read Chapter 16.
I don’t have a lot of answers but if you are interested in further discussion, let me know.289421-Hello-Friday

On Call

flowersFromMyGirlsI think I shall be quick this morning — I am subject to call to the den at any moment. :)

Luke 15

and the P’rushim and Torah-teachers kept grumbling.  source

And the Pharisees and the Scribes kept grumbling.

But the people kept gathering to YESHUA. Check out verse 1

But the Pharisees and Scribes –  Grumblers.
What a nasty habit!
Grumbling I mean.
It is no profit for anyone. It helps no situation other than helping others see the condition of our hearts.
You see habitual grumblers are not thankful people – not praisers of GOD.

BUT IF we KEEP GATHERING to JESUS we will be Praisers and not Grumblers.

And then there is verse 7.

I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who turns to God from his sins than over ninety-nine righteous people who have no need to repent.  Source

The preaching of repentance (turn or burn) was/is the message of JESUS.

We need NOT forget it or refrain from speaking it — especially as the End is coming closer and closer.

But before I close this morning allow me to chat a little further with you concerning verse 7.
Why did JESUS say what He said there? We know from other passages of Scripture that there is not one of us righteous; that ALL of us must repent to see GOD.  (see Romans 3:10-11)
So, what did He mean?

Here’s what I think: The Pharisees and Scribes who heard His parable considered themselves to be righteous; they considered themselves in no need of repentance. How foolish they were!  No rejoicing in Heaven over them. So very sad!

It’s Thursday here!

Pick a Seat

How do you pick your seat at a general admission event?

Luke 14

I ask because YESHUA had something to say about it.
Do you want to know what He said?

When Yeshua noticed how the guests were choosing for themselves the best seats at the table, he told them this parable:
“When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, don’t sit down in the best seat; because if there is someone more important than you who has been invited,
the person who invited both of you might come and say to you, ‘Give this man your place.’ Then you will be humiliated as you go to take the least important place.
10 Instead, when you are invited, go and sit in the least important place; so that when the one who invited you comes, he will say to you, ‘Go on up to a better seat.’ Then you will be honored in front of everyone sitting with you.
11 Because everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but everyone who humbles himself will be exalted.”

How do you read that?
What do you think He was saying to them?
And is there any reason He would say differently to us?

Humility.7ba74bde296b5f843bf45817b62843a4--be-humble-peter-otoole

It’s an important matter.
And if we refuse to humble ourselves — He knows how to do it!

I looked for the specific verse of Scripture to state it just the way I thought it was written and I discovered it’s the Whole Counsel of GOD that would communicate that to us. One of those verses would be this one.e11e3ed73d495dcbd5ab3edbdbcc153d

Adonai sustains the humble
but brings the wicked down to the ground.  Source Psalm 147

Does that say what I think it says?

Wicked is the opposite of humble?
