The Real World

The whole world will be celebrating from now till December 25; perhaps even longer. Stores started displaying trees back in September.
Isn’t it strange The GOD the world rejected when He came as The GOD MAN Baby more than 2000 years ago is now purportedly the reason for all these festivities?

Sentimentality abounds this time of year. So do depression, anxiety, and the feeling of being alone in a crowded room, all the while we pretty well idolize snow and
hot chocolate
evergreen trees
ornaments
candy canes
holly wreaths
egg nog
mistletoe
feasting and drinking — lots of parties
Christmas Movies 24/7 for 2 plus months and
buying, buying, and more buying (for giving to people we love, of course) — oh and we dare not forget the red-suited fat man who has god-like powers.

What does any of this have to do with The GOD MAN who actually has The Power today to save a world of people from the eternal destruction they deserve because of their very own sins?

And Merry Christmas. What do we mean when we say it? Do we mean anything at all — is it just a tradition?
Well, we have been saying it for a while now. A certain URL address says we have been saying Merry Christmas since the 1500s. I wonder what was said before then? If you’d like to check out the page — click HERE.

What do we mean when we say and do any of the traditions we have come to accept as CHRISTMAS?

I know, the likelihood of changing any of these traditions observed by the world is — well, it’s not happening.
Changing it I mean.

So, why am I here writing about it?
Not because I expect to change the world.
No. I just want to give a few dear people something to ponder.
To ponder how involved shall we stay in matters of earth that do nothing to advance The Real World — The Kingdom of our Father.

Perhaps from now until the end of the year, we will meditate on what we celebrate, what we hold sentimentally dear, asking ourselves does this bring The LIGHT of the WORLD to the people of my corner of the world? .jpeg1
It’s a hard question.
It may not be pleasant to answer. I am speaking from my present experience.

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Just One Family . . .

I started this at Facebook but abandoned that, and came here.

I’ve heard there’s a new Disney movie – just in time for October 31. I’ve heard some christians can hardly wait to see it.
If I could influence just one family to listen to me, I’d be thrilled.
Just one family to repent of all entertainment crafted to introduce little ones to the works of darkness – the satanic underworld.
How sad it is to me that professing brothers and sisters in CHRIST pay little to no attention to Scripture when choosing movies, music, games, books, etc.
Do people not know, do they not care that we are commanded by the GOD we say we love to abstain from all appearance of evil? (see 1 Thessalonians 5:22)
And that satan appears as an angel of light to the undiscerning. Get it? The personification of Darkness pretends he is light. (see 2 Corinthians 11:14)
Who is the Light of the World? (see John 8:12)
So if we love the Light of the World why do we go to the theater or stream movies into our homes that glorify darkness?

I know. I know. Some say it’s just for fun.
I’m glad Moses didn’t think that way and I’m glad now for every brother and sister who doesn’t either. (see Hebrews 11:24-26)

Please hear me.
Now and in times to come is no time to be a pretender
And why would anyone want to be?

Why not sell out to JESUS? He gives Eternal Life!
No one else does.

Praying for Broken Legs

For more than 12 hours, with some sleep in between, I’ve been more than usually aware that all around me are messed up people (including myself).

People are wounded, injured, and broken.
Everyone I know is messed up in some manner – some with disease and sickness of the body; some emotionally; and everyone.
Yes, EVERY ONE is in need of spiritual transformation.
Some are further along in the process than others but NO ONE on earth is fully perfected. Not one of us FULLY REFLECTS JESUS.

And also disturbing to me are those who either do not know or do not care that their day-in and day-out walking around on this earth looks nothing like JESUS.

No. I’m not mad.
I’m sad.
I hurt for them.
I hurt to see so many unfixed people, living defeated lives. Lives filled with death-yielding sin.
Depression. Anger. Anxieties. Bitterness. Hatred. Corruption. Debaucheries. Fears. Animosity. Dissatisfaction. Coveting. Greed. Lusts of every sort. Sexual depravities. Confusion. Reprobate minds.
The list is endless.

AND worse, many of these are people who profess they are Christians!

So I pray.
I pray people will come to KNOW they are broken and living sin-filled lives. That they will discover there is ONE HEALER.

But you know what even GOD cannot heal a person who is not willing to be healed?
Now He can work with them to bring them to be willing.
I am praying for this too.

Have you seen that picture depicting JESUS with a lamb on His Shoulders?

Do you know why that lamb is there?
Well, the story goes that the lamb wandered off from the flock .jpeg1aand the Shepherd went looking for that lamb and when he found the lamb, he broke the lamb’s leg (and set it properly, of course) and then put the lamb on his shoulders, and he carried that lamb around until the lamb healed and learned to not wander away from Him.

(I’ve experienced this and I am eternally grateful – no, my broken leg was not my flesh and bone leg. It hurt much worse and much longer!!)

I am praying for some broken legs in the Body of Christ.

I am praying too for unbelievers that they will become noticeably aware that they are broken all over and be willing to allow JESUS to heal them.

How about you, are you praying for The Body of CHRIST?

Jesus Carrying Lost Sheep Home Painting by Melani Pyke

If not, are you in need of a broken leg?

20 Now may the God of peace—
who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus,
the great Shepherd of the sheep,
and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood—
21 may he equip you with all you need
    for doing his will.
May he produce in you,
through the power of Jesus Christ,
every good thing that is pleasing to him.
All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.  source  Hebrews 13

Do, More Than We Don’t

As the hour is late to be here and still turn in early I think I shall be brief.

Philippians 4.

Allow me to share with you two or three observations from the first nine (9) verses.

Obviously, real Christians, Christians who have shared the Gospel, and whose names are written in the Book of Life can be at odds with one another.  A serious spat perhaps we would say.
1And as Paul closes this letter he addresses it.  He even enlisted a Brother’s help. He wanted those Girls to lay aside the squabble and seek unity.  Unity in the Body of Christ.
What a novel idea!

Moving on to verse 4, he continues to exhort.
He said we whose names are in the Book of Life are to be known for being REASONABLE and GENTLE.
Yes. Reasonable and Gentle.
I am praying about this; as I had to ask myself am I REASONABLE and GENTLE?

One more nugget and I will close — I think.

In conclusion, brothers, focus your thoughts on what is true, noble, righteous, pure, lovable or admirable, on some virtue or on something praiseworthy.

Do you see the word FOCUS?
We are commanded to focus because our minds (apart from focusing on the LORD) do NOT gravitate toward thinking about things that are
True
Noble
Righteous
Pure
Lovable
Admirable
Virtuous or
Praiseworthy.

We just don’t, BUT yielded to Holy Spirit we can practice, practice, practice until we do more often than we don’t.
