Lift a Finger Week (again)

IDOK Devotion for Tuesday, March 9, 2010
Lift A Finger Week.
Psalm 63:2 I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.  4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands.
And on the heels of reading that came this:  What does it profit us to lift our hands in the sanctuary on Sunday morning, and go home and fail to lift a finger to help anyone the rest of the week?
And Luke 5:  5Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
But because you say so – I love that!  I love that Peter even though he didn’t see the point in it and didn’t expect the results that Jesus knew would come from Peter’s obedience, he let down the nets. 6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.
What if after we leave the sanctuary, even if we don’t see the point, even if our expectations are way lower than what Jesus knows will be, what if we lifted a finger anyway?   Don’t know how to lift a finger?  Oh, I bet we do.  I bet there are some fingers that have been pointing at us for months now — to do this for someone — to do that for someone.  Well, now’s the time. This is Lift a Finger week for IDOKs.  This week is the week for us to go about doing good and here’s our example.
Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good . . . for God was with Him.
When I sat to write, ABBA, I did not expect this one, not at all; but I pray You will use it and that we will ‘lift a finger’ this week to help as many people as You give us.  Thank You for this ministry; thank You for allowing me to continue in it. And for each name spoken here we want them to experience peace and deliverance and healing.  We want their lives to be changed and made full of Your joy and peace.  We pray when portions of answers depend on them and their will that they will, will to do Your Will.  And when what they need is just You and Your timing, we trust You, LORD, to bring it to be.  All this we ask in the Matchless Name of Jesus. Amen and Amen.

Wandering (again)

IDOK Devotion for Tuesday, March 16, 2010
Wandering
If I have seen it before I have forgotten.  So it is new this morning.
Exodus 20:2-4 (NKJV)
2 “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.
In verse 2 I see the word ‘bondage’. Verse 3 commands us to have no other gods before Him?  I am learning more what that means. For me, one thing it means is when I deny the Truth within me to please someone else, I have bowed in worship to a false god and it is as surely bondage to me as was building bricks in Egypt to Israel. ABBA, came down and delivered Israel from Egypt.  But obviously they were still in bondage, they still had other gods before them – hence 40 years of wandering!
I’m tired of wandering! I want all my idols gone and all my chains of bondage broken.  And I know Who can do it.  I know Who is doing it – link by link.  All praise and glory to JESUS – the Greatest of ALL Liberators!
          Philippians 3:13-15 (NKJV)
13 Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead,
14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you.
Amen and amen – LORD anything to the otherwise, moment by moment reveal it to us and by Your Grace we SHALL turn away from it!  And all IDOKs and Readers said AMEN? Amen.
Holy Spirit, I ask You to do Your Thing with this.  It’s a fast written one but I pray it will linger long and will be an instrument of transformation in each of us.   We entrust each name spoken here.  We expect great things in each life and each situation because You only do Great, LORD.  We entrust our IDOK Troops for peace and safe keeping today.  We entrust the Call to Prayer to continue and grow and build strength in Your People.  We entrust the government and the people of America to You.  We entrust the People of Israel to You.  We lay it all before You this morning and we believe You are able.  We not only believe You are able, we believe You are willing – LORD JESUS, You have shown this.  Thank You.  Amen and amen.

Not So

Without radio or TV playing, one in the kitchen can hear the voices of GRANDS in their respective bedrooms. And as Josh called out to Isabel to ‘come here’, a sweet thought came to me that perhaps will give you a moment of kind reflection or some encouragement.

When JESUS calls to us ‘come to Me’, it’s only a step for us because He has already come to where we are.

Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all of you who are struggling and burdened, and I will give you rest.

via Matthew 11:27-29 KJV;CJB – All things are delivered unto me of my – Bible Gateway.

Not always but sometimes we call out for someone to come to us because we are comfortable where we are and we don’t want to make the effort to go to them even though we have a message for them.

NOT SO with JESUS. He had/has a message for us but He does not call us to come a long distance to receive it – only a step – for He has already traveled the distance to meet us. HOW AWESOME is HE?! And how blessed a truth is this for us?

Blessings Dear Friends!

Be Hidden in CHRIST,

Thank You, ABBA, Thank You LORD YESHUA for coming the distance for us and thank You HOLY SPIRIT that You keep doing it for us. And I know You are doing so for GRACE in this moment. As I think about her agony as she grieves the death of her son, I know only You can get her though this season and so I pray; pray for her to just be in You and I pray for family and friends to come alongside and bless her with love and arms to lean on. And, ABBA, there may be others today with similar depths of grief, I pray for them too to take that step to Your comfort. For all the hurting who come to this page or for those who come bringing someone else in their heart, I pray for all of us to take that step and receive Your comfort. Thank You, LORD JESUS. amen and amen.

Its’ really quiet in the house . . . wonder if I should check on that? :)

Tongues

5 So too the tongue is a tiny part of the body, yet it boasts great things. . . . 9 With it we bless Adonai, the Father; and with it we curse people, who were made in the image of God. 10 Out of the same mouth come blessing and cursing! Brothers, it isn’t right for things to be this way.

via James 3 CJB;NASB – Not many of you should become teachers, – Bible Gateway.

Immediately upon reading and with it we curse people the probing, convicting question came: does that include me?
The flavor of the question was not do I curse people. Much to the contrary, the question was ‘Do I curse myself with my own words’?

I am well familiar with the answer. Are you?
And what shall we do about it?
And does it not seem rather humble to assess myself in the negative?
To be forthcoming with my perceived deficiencies? Nay, He says! Tiz putrid pride, my beloved, that you would condemn what He has purchased by His own Blood.

A centuries-old discipline was to wash the child’s mouth with soap when foul words were spoken.

I believe I experienced such discipline this morning.

I am a blessed and beloved child.  I have sisters and brothers, don’t I? :)

I could perhaps should, wait until Monday to post this as who knows I may have nothing to write for Monday; but, I’m not. :)

Happy Saturday, my Friends!

Be Hidden in CHRIST,
